South Of Midnight Chapter 9 Collectibles
South of Midnight Chapter 9 has 14 collectibles: 1 Pattern, 12 Readables, and 1 Storybook. The Storybook is automatically collected as you progress through the story, but you’ll need to locate the 12 Readables yourself. Below is a walkthrough to help you find them.

1. Find Clues to Reach Molly’s Lair
After exiting the cave in Chapter 8, Hazel is still on the mountain path to reach Molly’s Lair.
1/12 – Burrower’s – Feline Intuition – Readables Collectible
Climb up until you reach a well-lit area with an overgrown house in the background. Look for a hollow tree here—it contains the first Readables collectible of the chapter.
Head down the path to the wooden bridge. Before you cross, turn left to find a Floof inside a cave. It is also near an interactable viewpoint, where Hazel can take in the view.
Cross the bridge and squeeze through a gap to meet “Itchy”.
2. Clear 4 Stigma Around the Holler
After the cutscene, cross the bridge into the settlement. The first two Stigma are to the left and to the right of the first two houses.
2/12 – Cross My Heart – Readables Collectible
Before going to the Stigma to the left when coming from Itchy, check out the house with the open door nearby. Here you’ll find Readables Collectible 2/12 on the sofa.
3/12 – Dear Santa – Readables Collectible
On the kitchen table in the same house is Readables Collectible 3/12.
4/12 – Please Keep In Mind & 5/12 – You’ll be Sorry – Readables Collectible
Go into the house behind the healing point to find two Readables collectibles. One is on the furniture to the right, and the other is on the round table with the red tablecloth. In the house, you can also inspect the binoculars on the sofa and look at the painting on the wall.
Near the house and the heal point, you’ll see an open burrow for Crouton. Summon Crouton and enter the burrow, which is filled with thorny bushes. Navigate to the other side of the burrow to find the Floof pile in a nearby garden.
6/12 – Molly Gives A Fright – Readables Collectible
Above the house with the healing point and the swing, you’ll find another house with a picnic table. Readables Collectible 6/12 is located on the table.
On the other side is another house. In the backyard is a metal sheet you can flip for Floof.
Go to the river near the previous house to find a Floof. And just behind the Floof is a metal sheet.
Return to the main road, where you can find a Floof near an old billboard and a truck.
Go to the right-side Stigma (coming from Itchy) and take care of it. After the sequence, interact with the tree stump. You can also pick up the Floof in the backyard of the nearby house.
There is another Floof high up on a ledge. Take the path to the right, then use the stone pile on the overgrowth that blocks the ledge to the Floof. Then, climb with a double jump.
Now, let’s take a look at the Pure Pine factory building, which Hazel first saw as a picture in Bunny’s Cottage in Chapter 6: Hush, Hush, Sweet Cherie. At the back of it is a metal sheet that can be flipped for Floof.
There is also a power switch and a passage for Crouton. Destroy the panels blocking it, then enter with Crouton to turn on the generator.
Now you can open the gate to the Pure Pine factory, enter, and destroy the Stigma. In the office, you can find a Floof.
7/12 – Mandatory Overtime – Readables Collectible
Readable 7/12 is also on the office table.
There’s only one Stigma left in this section. Follow the painted arrows to the back of the settlement to find and handle it. After that, there will be a chase sequence where Hazel needs to escape to the bottle tree.
3. Reach Molly’s House
After the cutscene with Itchy, return to the church, where you can flip a metal sheet at the cemetery.
Enter the church to find a Floof.
It’s time to head to Molly’s house. The path is clear, so Hazel can cross the wooden footbridge and climb the wall to reach the mountain. At the top, follow the path, clearing overgrowth when it blocks the way. Hazel will need to destroy another Stigma here, which will unlock a shortcut back to the start of the chapter.
Climb up the nearby stone wall to get to the Tangle.
4. Clear the Tangle to Molly’s House
At the Tangle, head to the right side first to find a Floof.
Health Filament
Go to the left of the Tangle. From there, go down and climb to the left to reach the Health Filament.
Head back to the Tangle and unravel it to get the “Huggin’ Molly” Pattern collectible. This will unlock access to Molly’s house.
8/12 – She Did It – Readables Collectible
On the table in front of Molly’s house, you’ll find Readables collectible 8/12.
5. Investigate Molly’s House for Signs of Lacey
Enter Molly’s House
9/12 – Why Not Me? – Readables Collectible
Inside the house, on the coffee table in front of the fireplace, is a Readables collectible 9/12.
10/12 – Dear Miss Molly – Readables Collectible
On the kitchen table is Readables Collectible 10/12.
11/12 – Decision of Transfer – Readables Collectible
Upstairs, near the sewing machine, is Readables Collectible 11/12.
6. Follow Huggin’ Molly into the Mountain
After reading the last collectible, the upstairs door will open, and Hazel can leave. Use the wind tunnel to get higher up the mountain. Right after landing, look to the right to find another Floof. Jump and glide across to get it.
Follow the tunnel with the red yarn until a cutscene starts.
7. Persue Huggin’ Molly
After the cutscene, slide deeper into the cave. Continue down the corridor until you reach a wall with a gap. Squeeze through the gap to enter a larger cave, where you’ll see a tall wooden building with Huggin’ Molly sitting on top.
Cross the first wooden bridge over the water and look for a barricaded tunnel to the right. Destroy the barricade and use the two grapples to reach the Floof.
Head towards the building until you spot another barricaded tunnel on the right. Break through it and proceed through the tunnel filled with thorny bushes. Use the grapple to reach a climbable wall, then climb to the top to find the Floof.
Follow the main path past the waterfall, but hold off on going to the house. Keep going, and you’ll find another barricaded tunnel up ahead. Break through it, then use a grapple on the other side to reach the Floof. There is another overhead grapple to exit the cave.
12/12 – Is It True? – Readables Collectible
Next, go to the house and squeeze inside. The last Readables collectible in Chapter 9 is on the bed. In the house is also a doll and a mural that you can look at.
Leave the house through the top and follow the path upward. Along the way, you can flip a metal sheet for Floof.
Climb higher and throw a stone at the hanging bag to reveal a grapple point. Use it to move forward, grappling twice to reach the other side. You’ll come across another barred tunnel—destroy it to find another Floof, guarded by spiky bushes.
As before, the path is blocked by a bag of stones. Locate the crate with stones and use one to break the hanging bag. This will reveal a new grapple point. Use it to cross, and be ready for a second grapple point midway.
Climb the wooden wall and break the bag at the top using a stone. Next, use the grapple to move forward. A single grapple will get you to a large wooden platform. There, you’ll find a metal sheet you can flip to get Floof.
Follow the path to the next area, Molly’s Lab. Walk along the water, and you’ll find a metal sheet at the end.
To reach a climbable wall in this area, destroy the yard barrier in front of the nearby cart, then pull it closer to reach the wall.
Climb the wall and stand on the large book. From there, you’ll be able to see and reach another Floof.
To advance, interact with the lever of the distillery, then pull the switch where the wooden platform is to create a wind tunnel. Cross it to the other side.
On the other side, you’ll need to repeat the same steps. Before that, look down, and you’ll spot a Floof. Jump down to collect it, but be careful to avoid the explosive mushrooms.
The gas switch for the next wind tunnel is located below. Climb the stack of books nearby and use the gas lever from there.
Go to the other side where the movable box is and push it to the climbable wall. Before that, make sure to destroy the red yard barrier.
Return to the fire switch and activate it to start the Wind Tunnel. Use the tunnel to reach a climbable wall. Climb to the left to find two creature exhibits you can interact with. Then, continue by throwing a stone at a highlighted wheel. This will destroy it to lower two platforms you can use to advance.
Cross the lowered platforms, which are actually birds, to reach the other side of Molly’s Lab. Continue along the wooden path and drop down to the ground floor. Hazel is looking for a way to open “that door.” Don’t forget to collect the Floof here.
You can also reach the Floof visible when you first enter Molly’s Lab from here. Simply walk past the cart and the explosive mushrooms to get to the water and the Floof.
Now, summon the cart and pull it toward the water side so you can climb a wall there. At the top, Hazel will spot a pulley high up. Now, there is a wind tunnel mechanism that Hazel can summon here. But before we go there, look for a yarn-blocked burrow. Unblock it and use Crouton to get inside to turn on the gas.
Turn on the gas, activate the mechanism, light the fire, and use the wind tunnel to reach the higher platform next to the pulley. Once there, interact with the pulley.
This will open the gate slightly, allowing Hazel to squeeze through. After the cutscene, the fight with Molly begins. She has three health bars. To defeat her, pick up the red flasks in the area and throw them at her. After three hits, she will fade, and Hazel can attack her wound. Repeat this process to deplete one of her health bars, after which Hazel will fall and be transported to a new area.
Climb back up and fight Molly for another health bar. Like before, Hazel will fall down when Molly’s health bar is depleted, and she has to climb her way back up. Fight her one last time
8. Follow Huggin’ Molly
Use the wind tunnels, grapples, and marked ledges to track Huggin’ Molly. When you catch up to her, you’ll see Bunny kill her and then push Hazel into the abyss.
