South Of Midnight Chapter 7 Collectibles
South of Midnight Chapter 7 has 17 collectibles: 1 Pattern, 15 Readables, and 1 Storybook. The Pattern and Storybook are automatically collected as you progress through the story, but you’ll need to locate the 15 Readables yourself. Below is a walkthrough to help you find them.
1/15 – The Lost Boy

1. Reach Laurent’s Juke Joint
Catfish drops Hazel off on the shore, and she uses a grapple to get across the water. On the other side, she squeezes through a gap in the stone wall and finds a strange tangle. Activating it creates a path for a wall run on the opposite side. This is a double wall run: go Left-Right, then glide back to land.
Continue along the path until Hazel spots the Old Sawmill in the distance. After this, look for a path on the right that leads down to the water. There, you’ll find a metal sheet you can flip for Floof.
Return to the main path, and you will see a climbable wall on the opposite side. Climb up there to find a Floof at the other end. Then, return to the main path by using the nearby wall run.
1/15 – The Lost Boy – Readables Collectible in South of Midnight
After grabbing the Floof, climb the ledge to find the only way out. You’ll reach a wall run, and on top of a box there, you’ll find the first Readables collectible in Chapter 7.
Cross over the river by making a boat appear that you can use to cross. Then, use the wall run to cross the other part of the wild river. Make sure to pick up the Floof at the other side of the wall run!
Use the grapple to swing over the thorns after making a log appear on this side. This will lead you to the first fight with the Haint and the first Stigma, where you’ll encounter the Brute Haint. After the fight, you can interact with a point near the river to look up to the sawmill.
Health Filament in South of Midnight Chapter 7
The Health Filament is located in the cave in the first fighting zone. Break the growth blocking the entrance to access it.
2/15 – Lost Liquor – Readables Collectible
In front of the overgrowth is a wooden box with the first Readables collectible on it.
Keep following the path up the mountain, climbing a long wall to the right. After the climb, look for an overgrown passage with a Floof behind it.
Then, follow the main path until you reach the Magic Object. Don’t interact with it yet.
3/15 – Lieutenant Laurent – Readables Collectible
Before interacting with the Magic Object, look for bee hives to the right of the path, where you can find Readables number 3 of 10.
At the end of the bee hives path is a big crate. Pull it to reach the Floof high up on a ledge to the right.
After collecting the Floof and the Readables, return to the Magic Object to interact with it. Once the sequence is complete, cross the river by summoning a boat. Be cautious, as the river path is tricky—you’ll need to jump quickly between floating objects to make it across.
There is a flippable metal sheet right by the river when landing on the other side.
4/15 – The Babblin’ Boy – Readables Collectible in South of Midnight
After crossing the river, look for a cave covered by branches. Break the branches to enter. Inside, you’ll find a flippable metal sheet and Readables Collectible 4/15. There’s also a Floof overhead, but you can’t reach it from this spot.
To collect this overhead Floof, follow the story path through the hollow log. On the other side, head left and cross back into the cave to pick up the Floof.
Go back through the hollow log and follow the story path. Perform a double wall run to cross the broken wooden bridge, summoning pieces as needed. While crossing, look to your left toward the waterfall. You’ll spot a Floof inside a cave. Summon the float in the water to reach it and collect it.
5/15 – Baby Faced Laurent – Readables Collectible
Get to the other side and turn left at the crossroads. There is another metal sheet for Floof and Readables Collectible 5/15 lying on a big rock next to the wooden crates.
6/15 – Burrower’s – Lil Drunkards – Readables Collectible
Next, take the story path. At the crossroads, you’ll see a hollow tree. Inside, you’ll find Readables Collectible 6/10.
Turn right at the hollow tree and clear the overgrowth to find a Floof.
Return to the path and walk past the hollow tree, straight ahead. Squeeze through the gap at the other end of the path, where a Haint battle awaits. To clear the Stigma, look for an overgrown burrow. Clear the overgrowth and summon Crouton.
Enter the burrow as Crouton and clear the Stigma at the end of the tunnel. Just avoid the thorny bushes.
7/15 – End of Prohibition – Readables Collectible in South of Midnight
Exit the area with the train tracks using the only available passage. In this passage, check the right-hand side near a couple of rum bottles to find a note. This is Readables collectible 7/15.
In the next area are a couple of buildings. Walk around the wooden shed to the right to find a flippable metal sheet to get Floof.
8/15 – Boy out of Time – Readables Collectible
Right next to the metal sheet is a staircase that goes up to the “Logging Camp Terminal” – the former entrance. Here is Readables Collectible 8/15.
At the back of the other building is another flippable metal sheet that gives you Floof.
Climb up this building and use the grapple at the water tower to reach the top of it, where you can see another Floof at the top of a roof.
Go down to the ground floor, where you can find an overgrown passage near the train tracks. At the other side, you can summon a tree and use the grapple to get to another Floof.

Nearby is the “Tools Repairs” Building. Inside is a metal sheet you can flip for Floof.
In this area, Hazel needs to pass through the large gate near the summonable Train Car. The power box isn’t working, so look for a breakable passage at the base of the main building, next to the stairs leading to the main door. Break the boards, summon Crouton, and go inside to turn on the generator.
Open the gate and push the Train Cart to the other side. Use it to reach the higher area.
Go down to the river and use the movable floats to cross it. Climb up to the Juke Joint. There is a Floof behind the building. Then, it’s time to go inside.
2. Reach Milltown
After the cutscene, return to the bar.
9/15 – Heart of Lace – Readables Collectible
Head up the stairs to the next floor. You’ll find Readables collectible 9/15 on top of some boxes surrounded by framed pictures.
Keep moving forward by leaving the bar behind. Use a wall run and two grapples to climb further up the mountain.
3 . Clear 4 Stigma Around Milltown
Milltown is a large area. Before tackling the 4 Stigmas, be sure to gather collectibles first.
To the left of the arrival/grapple point is a metal sheet for Floof on the floor behind one of the houses.
Inside the same house is also a Floof.
Further down from the previous house is another building with a Floof inside.
10/15 – Treatment – Readables Collectible in South of Midnight
In the same house, on the table, you’ll find Readables collectible 10/15.
11/15 – A Mother’s Last Words – Readables Collectible
In the same house, on the bedframe, you’ll find Readables collectible 11/15.
Exit through the door near the bedframe. On the other side of the road is another building with a Floof inside.
Find the old brick stone building that used to be a grocery store. At the back, you’ll see a crate you can summon. Pull the crate over to the house so you can climb onto the roof. Once you’re up there, you’ll find a metal sheet for Floof.
12/15 – Everything Helps – Readables Collectible
At the top of Milltown is the big, closed gate. If you go to the right, you will reach a destroyed workshop with this Readable Collectible on top of one of the boxes.
13/15 – A Father’s Job – Readables Collectible
Behind the previous workshop is a Stigma fighting zone. Clear the Stigma to get access to another building in this area with this Readables on the table.
Near the Stigma Zone with the crate, look for a blocked burrow for Crouton. Clear it and use Crouton to get inside. Follow the path to find the pile with Floof.
To clear this Stigma site, move the box to a stone ledge. Then, traverse the branches to reach the Stigma. This Stigma has no Haint to protect it.
The fourth Stigma is located farther down from Milltown. Use the nearby grapple to reach it, then squeeze through a gap to access the area. Clearing all four Stigmas here will trigger the chasing sequence.
4. Climb the Sawmill in South of Midnight
After the cutscene with Catfish, have a look around first before using the grapple to go up to the mill. You will find the other side of the big Milltown gate, where a Floof is hiding.
Climb up the sawmill, go left, and activate the waterwheel to get the saw running. Then, head inside and push the cart with the blade toward the roots to cut through them. In the next room is a Floof behind a barricade.
Climb further up at the other side of this room and exit the mill from there. There are two grapples to the left along the building that Hazel can use to proceed. Enter the building again from there
14/15 – A Penny Saved – Readables Collectible
Back inside the mill, head to the barricaded passage on the left. Follow it until you reach another barricade, which you can break to enter a room. On the table inside, you’ll find Readables collectible 14/15.
15/15 – Maintaining Productivity – Readables Collectible in South of Midnight
In the next room from there is a Floof and the last Readables collectible of Chapter 7: A Barman is Hard to Find.
Return to climb the Sawmill until finding the Tangle.
6. Confront Laurent in South of Midnight
Use a grapple from the Tangle location to reach the other side of the sawmill. Here you can pick up another Floof underneath the staircase.
Continue to climb up at the outside of the sawmill. Use a grapple at the very top and drop down into a small room with a red door. Interact with the red door to fight Laurent.
Laurent has three health bars. Each time you deplete one, there will be a stage where you can’t attack him. Simply watch for the yellow eyes and dodge his attacks until he’s defeated.
