Blasphemy Walkthrough – The Blood of Dawnwalker

Blasphemy is an optional side quest in the Prologue of The Blood of Dawnwalker, and it is one of the few Prologue quests where a villager lives or dies based on what you decide. Someone has stolen the banner Gremla was weaving for Knyaz Brencis, and if you do not get it back, Gremla is the one hanging from the church ceiling at evening mass. You can finish this quest before Withering Away, or after Like Father, Like Son by not waiting with father.

Gremla is kneeling on the ground in the center of the village, surrounded by a small crowd. Talk to her to start Blasphemy. She was weaving a banner on Knyaz Brencis’s request and it has been taken from her shed, which puts her in real danger with the knyaz.

Mission Text:
“Someone stole the banner Gremla was weaving on Brencis’s request. The knyaz will be furious when she finds out… – The banner was stolen from Gremla’s shed. I need to check it for clues.”

Turn on Focus Mode and work through the shed and the ground around it in this order:
-> Check the loom inside the shed first.
-> Step outside and follow the footprints leading away from it to find a piece of cloth.
-> Investigate the footprints, then the small hole beside them. It was left by a walking cane.

You will also find a torn piece of banner at the end of the footsteps. Investigate the front of the scrap, then rotate it and investigate the handprint on the back. That gives you both clues you need: the thief walks with a cane and has an injured hand.

Mission Text:
“The banner was stolen by someone who used a walking cane and hurt their hand. There can’t be too many people who match the description around Laslea.”

Walk through the village with Focus Mode active. Dana is the woman leaning on a stick at the northern edge of the village, at the boundary of the quest area. Ask her about the banner.

Mission Text:
“Premysl might know something about the missing banner. I should speak with him.”

Dana points you toward Premysl, who lives in the northeast of Laslea Glen and also walks with a stick. Ask him about his injury and about his cane. The answer that identifies him as the thief costs you 1 time slot, so budget for that before you start the conversation.

Once he is exposed you can give both answers for him to show you the banner. Tell him it is only a picture and three options open up. Every line in the conversation ends with Premysl showing the banner to you, but only some of them get it handed over.

All Premysl Dialogue Choices and What They Do

Outcome Dialogue Path Reward From
Banner Returned Angering Brencis will put my family at risk → This is just an empty gesture Gremla rewards you
Banner Kept Angering Brencis will put my family at risk → Maybe you’re right… Premysl rewards you
Banner Returned You haven’t convinced me → report to Gremla that Premysl has it Gremla rewards you
Banner Kept You haven’t convinced me → tell Gremla you could not find it XP only

Mission Text:
I convinced Premysl to return the banner. Time to talk to Gremla.

Head back to Gremla and talk to her to close the quest, but only if Premysl actually handed the banner over. If he kept it, the quest instead completes when Premysl gives you his reward, and you never need to return.

Blasphemy Rewards and Outcomes

XP Outcome Reward At Evening Mass
325 XP Premysl returns the banner 25 Denarius The banner hangs from the ceiling
325 XP Premysl keeps the banner Daylight Amulet Gremla hangs from the ceiling
325 XP Premysl keeps it, you report him to Gremla 25 Denarius The banner hangs from the ceiling
75 XP Premysl keeps it, you tell Gremla you found nothing None Gremla hangs from the ceiling

Which Choice Is Best?

Three of the four paths give you the full 325 XP, so the real decision is what you want to walk away with:

-> To save Gremla and still get paid: let Premysl keep the banner and then report him to Gremla. You get 325 XP, 25 Denarius, and the banner ends up at mass anyway.
-> To get the Daylight Amulet: take the path where Premysl keeps the banner and you do not report him. It is the only route that gives an item instead of coin, but Gremla pays for it.
-> Avoid the last row entirely. Telling Gremla you found nothing costs you 250 XP, gives you nothing, and Gremla still hangs. There is no upside to it.
-> Don’t do the quest: Gremla will hang.

Whichever way it goes, the payoff lands the next evening at Sacred Covenant. Recover the banner and it hangs from the church ceiling during mass. Fail to get it back and Gremla is hanging there instead.
