Legacy’s End is the final Crimson Fleet mission, and it starts the moment you deliver Kryx’s Legacy at the end of Eye of the Storm. Where you took the treasure decides which version you play: hand it to Commander Ikande and you assault the Key for UC SysDef, hand it to Delgado and you turn on the UC Vigilance instead. Either way the other faction is finished, so there is no switching sides afterwards. This guide covers the UC SysDef version step by step, from the Alpha, Beta and Gamma defensive batteries through the boarding, plus the two things most players get wrong: the persuasion check that decides whether Delgado lives, and the reason sparing him means Shinya Voss dies.

Legacy’s End Overview
Questline: Crimson Fleet, the final mission
Starts after: Eye of the Storm, as soon as you deliver Kryx’s Legacy
Which version you play: taking Kryx’s Legacy to Commander Ikande puts you on the UC SysDef path covered here, taking it to Delgado puts you on the Crimson Fleet path
Locations: the Key and the UC Vigilance
Needed before you go: a repaired ship, spare ship parts and plenty of ammo, this is the longest stretch of ship combat in the questline
Big decisions: persuade or kill Delgado, and whether Shinya Voss lives or dies
Point of no return: yes, the losing faction is destroyed and cannot be rejoined
How to Start Legacy’s End
Legacy’s End begins automatically at the end of Eye of the Storm, once you escape the Legacy with Kryx’s Legacy in your inventory. You are never asked to pick a side in a dialogue box. The destination you set is the choice.
Set a course for the UC Vigilance and you side with UC SysDef, and the mission becomes an assault on the Key. That is the version this guide follows.
Set a course for the Key and you side with the Crimson Fleet, and the mission becomes an attack on the UC Vigilance instead.
There is no way back once you jump. The faction you leave behind is wiped out, along with its vendors and services. If you are undecided, make a hard save before you grav jump.
Before You Start – Prep and Warnings
This mission is far more ship combat than ground combat, and that is where most players stall. A few things worth sorting first:
-> Repair your ship and buy spare ship parts. You fight through several waves without a chance to land.
-> Upgrade your ship if you are still flying something starter tier.
-> Stock ammo and healing items for the boarding section afterwards.
-> Make a manual save before you dock, so you have something to fall back on if the game hangs.
-> Make a second hard save before you talk to Delgado through the glass, because that conversation locks in whether he lives or dies.
1 – Disable the Defensive Battery Alpha, Beta and Gamma
Mission Text:
“Commander Ikande has informed me that the Vigilance is preparing to attack the Key with an all-out assault. In order to kee the flagship safe, I should jump ahead and disable the Key’s Defensive Batteries.”
Jump to Kryx and fight the Crimson Fleet to disable the batteries. As you arrive you will see a couple of blue mission markers on the structures themselves, and those are what you need to destroy.
There are three battery sites, Alpha, Beta and Gamma. Jump from Alpha to Beta to Gamma and clear each one the same way, destroying the marked structures along with the Fleet ships defending them.
2 – Join the Battle at the Key
Mission Text:
“All the Key’s Defensive Batteries have been disabled. I should now support the rest of the UC SysDef fleet at the Key until the Vigilance arrives for the final assault.”
Fly to the Key to help in the fight and destroy all enemies. This is the big engagement of the mission, so keep moving, use your ship parts when systems drop, and let the SysDef ships take some of the pressure off you.
3 – Board the Key
Mission Text:
“The Vigilance has arrived at the Key and all of the Crimson Fleet’s ships have been destroyed. I should now board the Key and attempt to take Delgado into custody, or kill him if he refuses to comply.”
Dock at the Key. Everyone inside is hostile now, so heal up and reload before you step through the airlock.
4 – Reach the Operations Center
Mission Text:
“I am now aboard the Key. I need to fight my way to the Operations Center to confront Delgado for his crimes.
Time to clean up the Key and fight your way to the Operations Center. You have been here many times, but the station is in lockdown, so the doors will not simply open as you go. Each area has a computer where you unlock the door to advance to the next room, so if you hit a sealed door, look for the terminal in that room before backtracking.
On the way you run into Shinya Voss, who stops you and reveals the bomb Delgado planted on him. You can agree to spare him, say nothing, or shoot him. Agreeing to spare him only sets up the option, it does not save him yet, and step 6 covers how the rescue actually works.
You have to talk to Delgado through the glass. Either persuade him or attack.
5 – Confront Delgado – Persuade or Kill
You talk to Delgado through the glass in the Operations Center. This is the decision the whole mission hangs on, so save first. You can either persuade him or attack.
Persuade him to stand down. This is a hard Persuasion check, so bring a decent Persuasion skill and a boost if you have one. Passing it makes Delgado surrender and cancels the reactor overload, and he ends up alive in the Brig aboard the UC Vigilance where you can go and visit him later.
Attack, or fail the check. Delgado triggers a reactor overload and the station starts a self destruct. You then have to reach the Reactor Override Controls on opposite sides of the reactor room and activate each one while robots and the last of the Fleet come at you. Hang back and thin out the robots before pushing forward. Once the overrides are done, Delgado comes out to fight you himself, and he has a lot of health.
What you get for killing him. Delgado’s body carries the unique rifle Tempest, an Advanced Pirate Corsair Spacesuit, a Pirate Raiding Balanced Pack, and his computer password. Tempest is the reason most players take this route, since Delgado is its only source.
What you give up by persuading him. Passing the check locks you out of killing him, so no Tempest, no spacesuit, and no password. That password is what saves Shinya Voss, which is covered next.
6 – Deactivate Shiya Voss’ Bomb
Mission Text:
“The lockdown on the Key has been lifted. I should now return to the Vigilance and speak with C
This is optional and easy to miss. Before going back to the Vigilance, interact with Delgado’s computer at his desk. There is a folder called Reckoner Bomb Control. Disarm the bomb and Shinya Voss lives.
The catch is that the computer needs Delgado’s password, and the password is only on his body. If you persuaded him to surrender in the previous step, you never get it, the computer stays locked, and Voss dies. There is no other way to save him.
So if saving Voss matters to you, kill Delgado. If you would rather see Delgado alive in the Brig, Voss is the price.
7 – Return to the Vigilance
Mission Text:
“The lockdown on the Key has been lifted. I should now return to the Vigilance and speak with Commander Ikande.”
Before you leave, sweep the Key. Once this mission wraps up you lose access to it, so loot anything you want while you still can.
When you are done, fly back to Commander Ikande to debrief. The Vigilance is just next to the Key.
Legacy’s End Rewards
Mission Text:
“The lockdown on the Key has been lifted. I should now return to the Vigilance and speak with Commander Ikande.”
Finishing on the UC SysDef side gets you:
-> A large credit payout from Commander Ikande
-> A UC SysDef uniform
-> Access to the Brig aboard the Vigilance, where the Crimson Fleet prisoners are held, including Delgado if you persuaded him
-> A UC SysDef mission board that generates repeatable paid work
-> Delgado’s gear if you killed him: Tempest, an Advanced Pirate Corsair Spacesuit and a Pirate Raiding Balanced Pack
The trade-off nobody mentions is what you lose. Siding with UC SysDef costs you the Key, which means the whole Depot goes with it: the vendors, the ship services and the traders who buy contraband without asking questions. If you smuggle regularly, that is an ongoing loss worth weighing before you commit.
The Crimson Fleet Ending
If you took Kryx’s Legacy to Delgado instead of Commander Ikande, Legacy’s End plays out with the targets reversed. You defend the Key against UC SysDef, help the Fleet bring down the Vigilance, and board the flagship rather than the station. The Key and its vendors stay open to you, and UC SysDef becomes the faction you lose.
Legacy’s End Troubleshooting
The mission is too hard.
Nearly every complaint about Legacy’s End is the ship combat rather than the boarding. Upgrade your engines and shields, carry a stack of ship parts, and target enemy engines so they cannot circle behind you.
Stuck after docking.
If the game hangs with your ship docked, reload the manual save you made beforehand and try again after a full restart. This is why the save in the prep section matters.
A battery objective will not clear.
Check that you destroyed the marked structures on the battery itself and not only the ships around it. Fly in close and scan for any remaining blue markers.
The route to Delgado is blocked.
That is the lockdown, not a bug. Look for the computer in the room you are in and unlock the door from there.
Delgado will not talk.
Approach the glass rather than trying to shoot through it.
The bomb computer will not open.
You do not have Delgado’s password. If you persuaded him rather than killing him, there is no way to get it on that save.
Legacy’s End FAQ
Should you kill or persuade Delgado?
Kill him if you want the loot or want to save Shinya Voss, since his body carries the unique Tempest rifle, the Advanced Pirate Corsair Spacesuit and the password for the bomb computer. Persuade him if you would rather have him alive in the Brig, and accept that Voss dies.
Can you save Shinya Voss?
Only by killing Delgado, taking the password from his body, and using the Reckoner Bomb Control folder on his computer before you leave the Operations Center.
Is Legacy’s End the last Crimson Fleet mission?
Yes, it ends the questline whichever side you pick.
Can you rejoin the other faction afterwards?
No. The losing side is destroyed and the choice is permanent on that save.
Do you keep access to the Key?
Not on the UC SysDef path. The station and everything on it is lost, so do your looting and selling before you finish the mission.
Where do you get the Tempest rifle?
Only from Delgado’s body during Legacy’s End on the UC SysDef path.
