The Schneider family calls in Forensics after a bullet comes through their kitchen window in the middle of the night. Before you can process the scene, you’ll need to complete Tutorial 4. This walkthrough covers labelling and photographing the bullet hole, placing the trajectory rod, setting up the tripod to capture the laser line, retrieving the projectile, and matching it against a reference round fired from the neighbour’s pistol in the lab.

Briefing
The Schneider family, residing at 13 Moselstraße, reports a projectile penetration through a kitchen window. A bullet hole was found in the kitchen wall. Forensics is called to the scene to retrieve the projectile and perform a trajectory analysis to confirm the direction of fire.
To solve this case, you first have to complete Tutorial 4.
Travel to the Crime Scene
The crime scene is a kitchen with double doors to the garden. The two tool kit cases are on the floor next to the kitchen counter. The bullet hole is in the wall between two closed doors.
Open both tool cases and label the bullet hole with the evidence marker. Then take a photograph.
You can now safely remove the projectile.
Evidence:
1 – Projectile Caliber 9mm, Lead
Take the Trajectory Rod from the case and place it in the hole.
Pick up the tripod and place it so the trajectory rod is visible and you can see the laser line. Hit exposure, run for the spray can and spray the laser line for the camera. Target is 100%. As you go to the garden, you will also see a bullet hole in the neighbor’s window.

Analyzing the Evidence
Back in the Lab, read the email. It will report that the trajectory analysis points to the neighboring family home of Tim Baumann. He voluntarily handed over his pistol for testing.
Evidence:
Firearm Pistol Valken Arms VA10
Go to the Reference Projectiles Workstation and insert this firearm. Shoot it and remove the bullet from the water tank.
Evidence:
Projectile Caliber 9mm, Lead
Compare the two projectiles in your evidence folder at the Projectile Comparison Workstation. They match at 119, 008.
Pick up the results and send the email to close the case.
