One Giant Leap follows straight on from Revelation and ends the Constellation story. There is no combat and no puzzle here. All that is left is to build the Armillary on your ship, power up the Grav Drive, and decide whether you step into the Unity or walk back out. This guide covers every objective, the people worth talking to before you go, the turn back option that most players miss, and exactly what you keep and lose when the credits roll.
Spoiler warning: this page covers the end of the Starfield main story and what happens afterwards.

One Giant Leap Mission Overview
Mission type: Main story mission, the final mission in the Constellation questline
Prerequisite: Revelation
Starts: Automatically once all Artifacts are in your inventory
Completed at: The Unity
Rewards: A Starborn spacesuit, the Starborn Guardian ship, and the One Giant Leap achievement
Unlocks: New Game Plus, beginning with a new version of One Small Step
This is the shortest main mission in Starfield. There is no combat and no puzzle, but it is the one mission you cannot undo, so read the objectives below before you build the Armillary.
1 – Build the Armillary on Your Ship
Mission Text:
“I have all the Artifacts. I need to assemble them into the Armillary on board my ship.”
Before you assemble the Artifacts, you have the optional objective to talk to your friends before you leave. Once the Armillary is built and every Artifact is placed in it, your Grav Drive will only jump to the Unity. Remove the Armillary from your ship if you want to keep travelling normally. To trigger the jump, take off from any planet and assign at least one power bar to the Grav Drive.
Who to Talk To Before You Leave
The optional objective points you at the Lodge. You can speak to Sarah, Barrett, Andreja, Sam, Cora, Noel, Matteo, Walter, Vladimir and Vasco for unique dialogue you will not hear again. Matteo, Noel, Vladimir, Walter and Vasco stay behind, and Vladimir takes over as Chair of Constellation. The rest follow you through. This is also your last chance to finish companion quests, get married, and wrap up any faction storyline you care about.
Inside the Unity, walk towards the large sphere of light in the centre and talk with the other version of you standing there.
You Can Still Turn Back
Reaching the Unity is not the point of no return. If you change your mind after the conversation, walk away from the sphere towards the edge of the starfield until the stars fade out. You will wake up back on your ship with every Artifact returned to your inventory, and you can rebuild the Armillary and return whenever you are ready. Only stepping into the sphere itself is permanent.
The outcomes of your decisions appear around the sphere as the other you explains what your choices caused across the galaxy. Faction outcomes and the Hunter or Emissary decision from Revelation change what you see here, but they do not change the ending itself. Step into the sphere to be reborn, and the credits roll. One Small Step then starts in your new universe.
What Carries Over Into New Game Plus
You keep your level and XP, all skills and their challenge progress, all unlocked powers, your traits, your research progress, your name and appearance, and the Frontier. You lose your credits, every other ship you owned, all outposts, weapons, spacesuits and resources, and all planetary scan data, so anything you have scanned will need scanning again. In exchange you wake up above Vectera in a Starborn Guardian with a Starborn spacesuit, and both upgrade every time you pass through the Unity. Your powers also come back upgraded when you revisit the temples.
If you would rather keep this universe for a while, remove the Armillary from your ship and carry on. Nothing expires, and the Unity will still be there when you are done.
