The Makino Kurumazuka Kofun is a hidden treasure cave located in the northern Yawata Plains of the Izumi Settsu Region in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, just north of the Bamboo Cutters Watchtower. Accessing this treasure isn’t straightforward as the entrance is initially blocked. To gain entry, you’ll need to use explosives. If you’re playing with Naoe, you’ll need to progress further in the story until Yasuke joins your team. Yasuke has the strength needed to carry the explosive jars required for this task.

Start by refilling your arrows. Once stocked, pick up an explosive jar located nearby and carry it to the entrance of the cave. You have the option to either place or throw the jar at the blocked entrance. Create some distance, then aim carefully and shoot at the jar to detonate it. The explosion will clear the rubble, opening the way inside.
Inside the cave, the first room contains two blocked pathways. One path is obstructed by a shelf that can only be moved from the other side, leaving just one viable route. Move the heavy shelf along this path to open the way forward, which leads downward.
Follow the path down until you reach the next chamber. This room has another shelf blocking your way forward. You’ll also notice a staircase leading up to a collapsed passage, and a separate blocked doorway to the right. Begin by moving the obstructing shelf to access a new corridor. Traverse the corridor, which is partially submerged in water, to reach another room containing explosive barrels.
Grab one of these barrels and use it to blow open the nearby collapsed doorway. This will take you back to the room with the staircase. Next, take a second explosive barrel and use it to clear the rubble blocking the upstairs passage. Follow the newly revealed corridor until you reach a crossroads. You’ll find a small chest to your left, but the path to the main treasure lies to the right. From here, proceed until you arrive at a water pool. Swim across to continue exploring.
The following room has a passage blocked by wooden boxes on the right and another obstructed path straight ahead. Start by destroying the wooden boxes. Then, retrieve an explosive barrel and carry it to the blocked passage at the end of the corridor. If your throw with the barrel isn’t precise, you can always approach the passage and reposition the barrel to ensure it’s close enough for detonation. After clearing the obstruction, move through to the revealed area.
Once past the newly opened section, you’ll come across an opening on your left. To pass through, you’ll have to crouch. On the other side, follow the twisting corridor until it leads to a large room where you’ll see a stretched rope.
Unfortunately, the rope can’t bear Yasuke’s weight. To progress, look around for a movable shelf within another corridor. Shift the shelf to open access to a small chest. You can also use the shelf to reach a higher platform. Climb to the top of the staircase, where you’ll face another blocked passage. To proceed, you’ll need to interact with two more movable shelves located on the ground floor. Place these shelves in their respective slots, one near and one farther away, to create a path through the lower-level corridor.
Continue through this passage until you reach an upper-level room with a barrier. Here, move the shelves to clear a path. Once done, retrieve an explosive barrel and carry it downstairs. You’ll need to place this barrel on top of the lower-level shelves to reach the rubble blocking a higher-up passage on your right. Clear the obstruction, jump across the gap, and follow the corridor to the final treasure room.

After acquiring the treasure, exiting the cave is simple. Just retrace your steps and shift the shelves blocking the path to return to the entrance. This path will lead you back to the first room as described earlier.
