Jizo Statue
The Yamashiro region is home to 6 Jizo Statues. Pay homage to these sacred statues to gain spiritual rewards.
Genbu Highlands
In the northwest of Yamashiro, in the Genbu Highlands, is a Jizo Statue by the road.
Genbu Panorama
Northeast of the Genbu Panorama Fast Travel Point, there is a Jizo Statue by the road.
Katsura Fishing Village
The Jizo Statue near the Katsura Fishing Village is in the very west of Yamashiro, at the border to Tamba.
Pagoda of the Hills
West of the Pagoda of the Hills Fast Travel Point is a Jizo Statue by the road.
Shoryuji Castle
East of Shoryuji Castle is a Jizo Statue near the bridge.
Uji Tawara
Uji Tawara is a little tea village in the east of Yamashiro. East of the village center is a Jizo Statue.
Kata
In the samurai context, a kata is a predefined sequence of combat movements used to practice and perfect swordsmanship, strategy, and discipline. It serves as a training method to internalize techniques, ensuring fluid execution and proper response in real combat situations.
In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Yasuke learns a Kata through a minigame similar to the Kuji-kiri. Prompts will appear on the screen, and players must input them at the correct time. To succeed, you need to complete three sets of inputs accurately.
Chushojima Island
The Kata at Chushojima Island is east of Shoryuji – the island in the water.
Kuya Falls
The Kata at Kuya Falls is northwest of Yamashiro, northwest of the Arashiyama Cascades Fast Travel point.
Keys
Forsaken Pagoda
A set of keys are just below the Forsaken Pagoda, across the water.
Ginkakuji Temple
There are Keys to be found north of the Ginkakuji Temple.
Kuya Falls
East of Kuya Falls and north of the Arashiyama Cascades is a key.
Little Leaf Glade
There’s a key in the eastern parts of Yamashiro, near the border to IGA.
Ogura Peak
North of the Ogura Peak Fast Travel Point, across the river, is a key.
Tofukuji Temple
South of Tofukuji Temple is a boat dock by the river. Here you can find a key.
Yamasaki NE
A mysterious keys anomaly awaits players. It is situated northeast of Yamazaki Tenshu, at a shrine.
Kofun
Kofun tombs are ancient cave-like structures filled with treasures. To claim these treasures, solve puzzles and overcome challenges within the caves.
Ancient Tomb of Nanjo
The Ancient Tomb of Nanjo is in the center west of the Yamashiro region, east of the Forsaken Pagoda Fast Travel point. If you don’t know what to look for, this tomb can be quite confusing. But as soon as you realise that you have to follow the path of the two ceramic horses, it will become very easy…
Kuji-kiri
Kuji-kiri is a traditional Japanese esoteric practice involving nine symbolic hand gestures (mudras) used in ninjutsu and Shugendō. It is believed to channel spiritual energy, enhance focus, and provide protection.
Ginkakuji Temple
This Kuji-kiri is at the Ginkakuji Temple Garden.
Kuramadera Temple
Head to the Fast Travel Point Kuramadera Pagoda in the north of Yamashiro. At the very top of the tower you can cross over to the Kuji-kiri.
Shoryuji
This Kuji-kiri is west of Shoryuji Castle.
Legendary Chests
Discover Legendary Chests containing rare loot across various locations within Yamashiro.
Grave of Buried Hopes
The Grave of Buried Hopes is a location in the north of Yamashiro, in the eastern Genbu Highlands. The Legendary Chest is at the highest point of this location, underneath a small tree.
Little Leaf Glade
There is a Legendary chest at the eastern border to IGA, just north of the river.
Namikiri Fudoson Shrine
The Legendary Chest is right below the Genbu Panorama Fast Travel Point but above the tall statue of the Nimikiri Fudoson Shrine.
Hanazono Castle
Hanazono Castle is a destroyed castle in the north of Yamashiro. First, kill 2 Samurai Daisho on the castle grounds:
The Legendary chest is in the destroyed center building, where a Samurai Daisho patrols.
Nijo Palace
Nijo Palace is Kyoto’s Palace. First, kill 2 Samurai Daisho on the castle grounds:
The Legendary chest can then be looted. It’s in the attic of the tower in the southwest, where the Fast Travel Point is.
Ogura Pond
Just below the Ogura Pond Fast Travel Point is a Legendary Chest.
Sarumaru Shrine
Sarumaru Shrine is in the east of Yamashiro, near the border to IGA. The Legendary Chest is in the north of the shrine.
Shoryuji Castle
Shoryuji Castle is just south of Kyoto. First, kill 3 Samurai Daisho on the castle grounds:
The Legendary chest can then be looted. It’s one floor below the attic, right next to the Valuable Object.
Shoryuji Kuji-kiri
West of the Shoryuji Kuji-kiri is a Legendary chest at the bottom of a collapsed bridge.
Yamazaki Castle
Yamazaki Castle is in the south of the Yamashiro region, at the border to Izumi Settsu. First, kill 5 Samurai Daisho in the castle grounds:
The Legendary chest can then be looted. It’s one floor below the attic, right next to the Valuable Object.

Green Pheasant
I found the Green Pheasant in one of the chests at Yamazaki Castle.
Infant Macaque
In the north of Yamashiro is the location “Kurama Onsen”, where you can draw a Sumi-e of Bathing Macaques. This will grant you the Infant Macaque pet decoration.
White Akita
I found a friendly White Akita at Bydoin Temple, east of Shoryuji and north of Ogura Pond.
Shrines
There are 3 Shrines in Yamashiro, with 3 locations to pay respect to.
Gion Shrine
The Gion Shrine is just east of Kyoto, across the river. Pay respect at 2 shrines at the Gion Shrine grounds.
My first location is the northernmost building on the Gion Shrine’s grounds.
For the second location, head to the southeast of Gion Shrine and look for the “pray” prompt.
Iwashimizu Hachiman Shrine
The Iwashimizu Hachiman Shrine is east of Shoryuji Castle and the Oyamazaki Kakurega, in the south of Yamashiro. Pay respect at 3 shrines.
The first location is just in front of the main building. Interact with the “pray” prompt and wait until Naoe is glowing blue.
For the second location, stay in the same courtyard and pay respect in front of smaller buildings.
Exit the temple courtyard and you will find another shrine right by the entrance/exit.
Kamigamo Shrine
The Kamigamo Shrine is north of Kyoto. Pay respect at 3 shrines.
The first location is at the building in the center of the shrine grounds.
For the second location head to the east of the shrine grounds.
The third shrine is just behind the previous one.
Sumi-e
Sumi-e is a traditional Japanese ink painting style that uses expressive brushstrokes, minimal detail, and negative space to capture the essence of nature and subjects with simplicity and elegance.
In Assassin’s Creed, a Sumi-e is a collectible, where the player has to paint a certain object by reaching a certain point. Crouch slowly to approach the target and Observe to paint it.
Dueling Shika Deer
Two Shika Deer are dueling just north of Kinkakuji Temple.
Graceful Grey Heron
The Graceful Grey Heron is standing by the river just south of the Toji Pagoda Fast Travel Point.
Onsen Bathing Macaques
In the north of Yamashiro is the location “Kurama Onsen”, where you can draw a Sumi-e of Bathing Macaques.
Wandering Koi Fish
The Wandering Koi Fish swims in the Kinkakuji Temple pond. Approach and draw it from the south side.
Temples
There are 11 Temples in the Yamashiro region of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Temples are the locations where Lost Pages have to be found.
Byodoin Temple
There are 2 Lost Pages at Byodoin Temple east of Shoryuji and north of Ogura Pond.
The first can be found in the little house with a river view just north of the main building.
The second Lost Page is on the roof of the main building – western side.
Ginkakuji Temple
There are 2 Lost Pages at Ginkakuji Temple northeast of Kyoto.
The first can be found on a branch of a tree. Climb up to the building next to the tree, where you can reach the Lost Page.
The second Lost Page is on the little island of the garden pond.
Honnoji Temple
There are 4 Lost Pages at Honnoji Temple in Kyoto. The temple grounds buildings are mostly destroyed, but there are a lot of chests to be found here as well.
The first can be found in the west at the former pond. In the screenshot below it is buried in snow.
The second Lost Page is on the roof of one of the buildings in the southeast.
The third can be found in the crawlspace below one of the houses in the east.
The last Lost Page is on the roof of the destroyed temple building in the north of the temple grounds.
Honnoji Temple
There are 4 Lost Pages at Honnoji Temple in Kyoto. The temple grounds buildings are mostly destroyed, but there are a lot of chests to be found here as well.
The first can be found in the west at the former pond. In the screenshot below it is buried in snow.
The second Lost Page is on the roof of one of the buildings in the southeast.
The third can be found in the crawlspace below one of the houses in the east.
The last Lost Page is on the roof of the destroyed temple building in the north of the temple grounds.
Kinkakuji Temple
There are 4 Lost Pages at Kinkakuji Temple northwest of Kyoto.
The first can be found hidden in a bush at the eastern temple complex.
The second Lost Page is on the roof of the building in the center of the temple grounds.
The third Lost Page is on the island of the pond.
The fourth Lost Page is hidden inside a building north of the temple grounds.
Kiyomizudera Temple
There are 3 Lost Pages at the Kiyomizudera Temple east of Kyoto.
The first can be found inside a tree in the center of the complex. Just climb the building next to it.
The second Lost Page in the center of the pond.
The third Lost Page is on the railing in the southeast of the area.
Kuramadera Temple
There are 2 Lost Pages at Kuramadera Temple in the very north of the Yamashiro region. The first can be found just below the Kuramadera Pagoda synchronization point.
The second Lost Page is on the ground floor. Look for a big tree and a toppled-over lantern.
Shokokuji Temple
There are 3 Lost Pages at Shokijuki Temple in northeastern Kyoto.
The first can be found at the top floor of the southern, destroyed building.
The second Lost Page is on the top floor of the eastern building.
The third and last page is on the top floor of the northern building, right below the Shokokuji Pagoda Fast Travel Point.
Tenryuji Temple
There are 3 Lost Pages at Tenryuji Temple west of Kyoto. Temple grounds are hostile, so you must carefully collect the pages.
The first can be found up on one of the bell towers. This one is in the northeast tower.
The second Lost Page is at the temple’s pond.
The third and last page is on the main building’s roof.
Tofukuji Temple
There are 3 Lost Pages at Tofukuji Temple south of Kyoto.
The first can be found at the pond with the bridge. Check out the pond lantern’s base.
The second Lost Page is in the building with the big bell.
The third and last page is at the easternmost building’s roof.
Toji Temple
There are 3 Lost Pages at Toji Temple in Kyoto.
The first can be found in a tree north of the temple grounds. Access the tree from the nearby building.
The second Lost Page is at the eastern pond.
The third and last page on the roof of the southeastern building.
Valuable Object
There is one Valuable Object to be found in the Yamashiro Region.
Yamazaki Castle
Yamazaki Castle is in the south of the Yamashiro region, at the border to Izumi Settsu.The Valuable Object – an Umbrella – is right next to the Legendary Chest, one floor below the attic.
