Pool bar owner Dietmar Koch calls in Forensics after an armed robber storms in, fires a shot into the wall, and empties the till with waitress Elena Fischer looking on. This walkthrough covers collecting all sixteen fingerprints scattered across the bar, extracting the blood and bullet evidence, decrypting three broken smartphones, and matching the recovered firearm to the shot fired to close the case.

Briefing
Following the call of Dietmar Koch, the owner of a pool bar which was currently the victim of an armed robbery, officers were dispatched to secure the scene. Witness reports explain that a man drank at the bar and refused to pay, stormed out and returned later, furious, with a gun in hand. He fired his gun and took money from Dietmar Koch and waitress Elena Fischer. Both provided fingerprint and DNA samples for comparison.
Travel to the Crime Scene
The crime scene is a pool hall with a bar. There are six pool tables and a bar at the back.
Since it is quite an open area with a lot of evidence, let’s start with the fingerprints. There are 15 fingerprints in total. number them, take a photograph and extract them with the Fingerprint Kit.
The extraction can be a bit finicky. If you don’t seem to reach it, try to point the center pointer on your screen on the fingerprint symbol, not the fingerprint itself. If the surface is too dark to barely see the tape on one side, align the tape to the side you can see. This should cover the print.
Two sets are on top of the round table right by the window. A third print is on the big round table near the bar.
Evidence:
3x Fingerprint (Unknown)
The fourth fingerprint is on one of the round tables between the pool tables, and the fifth print is on the pool table with the blood sample.
Evidence:
2x Fingerprint (Unknown)
The next fingerprint is on the round table next to the arcades, and two more are on the two round tables between arcade and bar counter.
Evidence:
3x Fingerprint (Unknown)
The bar counter has three fingerprints by the beer tap, and three prints at the bar counter corner.
Evidence:
5x Fingerprint (Unknown)
Two more fingerprints are to the left and right of the till.
Evidence:
2x Fingerprint (Unknown)
Another fingerprint is one one of the center pool tables.
Evidence:
1x Fingerprint (Unknown)
There is one blood sample on the pool table next to one of the fingerprints. Number it, take a photograph and extract the sample with the Bio Material Kit.
Evidence:
Biological Sample (Unknown)
There is a bullet hole behind the counter in the wall. Use a number marker, take the photo and remove the projectile.
Evidence:
Projectile Caliber 9mm, Lead
Put the Trajectory Rod into the hole, set up the camera with the tripod right next to the counter, start the exposure and spray the path.
Evidence:
Trajectory Pool Bar
There are three broken smartphones behind the bar counter. The basket with the two smartphones is a bit complicated. The way I labelled them in the screenshot didn’t work, so I did the one to the left first, by putting the label above it, then I had enough room to to the other one.
Evidence:
Digital Device Smartphone – Redleaf
Digital Device Smartphone – Orcha
Digital Device Smartphone – Novaris
Analyzing the Evidence
Back in the Lab read the email to receive a suspect’s fingerprint: Thomas Keller.
Evidence:
Fingerprint (Patrick Vogel)
Fingerprint (Stefan Lehmann)
Let’s start with the fingerprints and analyze them at the Fingerprint Analysis station. There are sixteen unknown fingerprints to compare against Dietmar Koch, Elena Fischer, Stefan Lehmann and Patrick Vogel. Export and pick up the results
Next is to de-solder the three broken smartphones. Pick up the memory chip after every de-soldering. Then, you can decrypt them at the station next to it.
Now head over to the Bio Evidence Analysis Station. Put three samples inside: The sample from Dietmar Koch and Elena Fischer plus the unknown one from the bar. Wait until all three samples are analysed, then pick up the results.
Then do the DNA Comparison. Both samples from Dietmar Koch and Elena Fischer don’t match. The unknown sample has quite a distinct smaller spike in front of the second spike that both of them don’t have. You will also receive an email confirming that the sample does not generate a match in the criminal database and the blood must be from a customer accidentality cutting themselves on a piece of glass.
Send off your evidence and read the emails you will receive. One of them will report that a handgun was found in Stefan Lehmann’s apartment.
Evidence:
Firearm Pistol Lorenzi Armi LA-687
Insert the firearm into the Reference Projectiles Workstation. Then, shoot the firearm and collect the bullet from the water tank.
Evidence:
Projectile Caliber 9mm, Lead
Compare the two projectiles in your evidence folder at the Projectile Comparison Workstation. They match at 237, 227. Export your result and pick up the folder next to the workstation.
Send the results off by email. Stefan Lehmann has been arrested and the crime scene is clean.
