The Mechanic is the Star Wars Outlaws Expert quest that picks up right after Intel: The Speeder Mechanic, and you need it to move the story on. Selo Rovak will boost Kay’s speeder, but only if you steal an Atmospheric Accelerator from the Imperial Wind Harvester in Boulder Forest. This walkthrough takes you through every turbine, fan and climb on the way to the Speed Boost upgrade.

The Mechanic at a Glance
1 – Break into the Wind Facility
Quest: The Mechanic – Break into the wind facility
Location: Imperial Wind Harvester, Boulder Forest – Toshara
“Selo Rovak is one of the best mechanics on Toshara. She’s agreed to boost Kay’s speeder in exchange for an atmospheric accelerator from the nearby Imperial wind harvester.”
Set The Mechanic as your active quest and follow the marker on your HUD to the Imperial Wind Harvester in Boulder Forest.
Here you see why Selo gave Kay a pair of Magnetic Disruptors. A large turbine in the mountain wall blocks the way in. Don’t use the disruptors on the turbine itself. Place them on the small control station at its base instead. The turbine slows down and you can slip inside.
The Imperial Wind Harvester is not the only spot worth a visit in this region. The Boulder Forest treasures guide shows every chest nearby.
2 – Find an Atmospheric Accelerator
Quest: The Mechanic – Find an atmospheric accelerator
Location: Command Center, Imperial Wind Harvester – Toshara
The Imperial Wind Harvester hides a large underground tunnel system. Call your speeder to ride to the next quest marker deep inside.
Follow the tunnel. When you reach a cliff, drive down it on the speeder. At the end of the tunnel, a big Imperial entrance gate leads into a windy area.
Inside, a vent entrance is blocked by a red power shield. Scan the area with Nix to reveal the power switch behind the shield, then send Nix to switch it off. The shield drops and the vent opens.
Follow the vent and climb the ladder. You come out in a dark area full of pipes. Follow the pipe structure to the left and head for its brighter far end. Climb onto the top of the pipe. Two propellers blow from the right, so wait for them to power down before you cross the pipe catwalk to the bridge.
On the bridge, scan with Nix again. Below you is the power core of a propeller, and you can shoot it from right here. Its yellow cover is one of three you need to climb, and Kay can’t climb a cover while its propeller is running.
Drop down from the bridge and use the three yellow propeller covers to climb up to the next bridge. Follow the yellow climbing spots.
Cross the bridge and look for more climbing spots. Nix can highlight them for you. Climb the small handlebar up to the barred windows and keep following the yellow spots. Some turbines with yellow covers switch off and on, so time your crossing.
From the propeller in the screenshot, drop to a small platform. A pipe connects it to another platform and has a cracked opening on top. Climb into the pipe through that crack.
Inside the pipe, follow the path to another crack in the floor. Drop down into a red-lit ventilation shaft, go left and squeeze through the tight gap. The next area looks like the inside of a gaming PC, with brightly lit fans. Head right and wait for the walls to retract before you cross. On the other side, climb up to another round vent opening.
The round opening leads to a small room with valuables. Across the room, past the large bright propeller, are two power cores. Shoot both to stop the upper vent from blowing, then use the overhead grapple point to swing across.
Move left and climb onto the propeller with the yellow cover. Keep climbing until you see the yellow grated walls from the screenshot below.
Follow the yellow climbing spots to the top, then go left. Drop down onto a path blocked by retractable walls. Cross when they move and climb the yellow grated wall at the end. A crossover climb takes you onto a platform near the top of the walls. Wait for them to come out, then cross to the other side.
Move right and climb up, waiting for each turbine to power down. Follow the climbing path to the top and into another vent. Cross it, climb the ladder inside and go through the last stretch of vent. Drop down into the Command Center of the Imperial Wind Harvester and interact with the console to remove the Atmospheric Accelerator.
3 – Leave the Facility
Quest: The Mechanic – Leave the facility
Location: Imperial Wind Harvester, Boulder Forest – Toshara
With the Atmospheric Accelerator removed, the Wind Harvester powers down and the way out is clearer. Leave the Command Center through the only door and follow the route. Look up for the grapple swing points: there are two near the well-lit stationary propeller. Swing across, then drop down to move on.
Follow the path past the big, brightly lit propeller to find Kay’s speeder waiting. Hop on and ride out through the ventilator shaft.
4 – Return to Selo and Unlock Speed Boost
Quest: The Mechanic – Return to Selo
Location: Selo’s Shop, northeast of Jaunta’s Hope – Toshara
Once you’re out of the facility, head back to Selo’s Shop and hand over the Atmospheric Accelerator. Selo upgrades your speeder with the Speed Boost and joins Kay as an Expert, so her abilities now show up in the Abilities section of the game menu.
The Speed Boost is the reason you need Selo in the first place: it is the only way to get your speeder through the wind tunnels on Toshara, which you need to reach the wreck in The Wreck. Ride up to a wind tunnel entrance and use the Speed Boost to push through the wind. The boost also gets you across the ramp jumps to the Flooded Cave and Smuggler Cache 05 in The Mirage treasures guide, and to Vagrant’s Camp and Shaska’s Hold in the Grazing Fields treasures guide.
What to do next with Selo’s abilities:
– The Scoundrel’s Pouch upgrade needs the Durafiber Fabric key part.
– The Smoke Bomb ability needs the Smoke Bomb Compressor.
