Into the Den – Quest Start

North of the fishing spot, where Coen leaves his siblings to fish in Live Bait, a pack of wolves and a sleeping bear share a cave. Clear them out, then loot the body lying behind the cave. The corpse carries a Tattered Letter, and reading it starts the quest.

1 – Inspect the Flat Rock Marked with X

Mission Text:
“I found a wolves’s den – and there’s a body inside it…“

If you are an inquisitive gamer and already finished If a Tree Falls in the Forest at the Northern Foothills, you may have spotted this “X” inside the wrecked hut there. In that case the location is already pinned on your map. Either way it sits across the river, east of the Northern Foothills shrine.

Rewards and Loot

The flat rock stash holds four items, and two of them are worth going out of your way for this early:

Artisan’s Tunic
Letter with a Tip (Quest Letter)
Rebel’s Falchion
Garlic

The Letter with a Tip

This letter is worth holding on to. Silver burns the Vrakhiri, which is exactly why they have banned it across the region, and this letter names someone in the Neustadt district who is still trading in it. Expect that name to matter later.
