Forensics: Crime Scene Detective – Basement Blood Scare

This guide covers the Basement Blood Scare case in Forensics: Crime Scene Detective, where a neighbour’s discovery of unexplained red stains in a family basement kicks off a full forensic investigation. Follow along to collect and analyse four biological samples and five fingerprints, then compare them against Markus Feldmann and his father Dieter to find out who really left the evidence behind.

Police were dispatched to a possible violent crime in a multi-family house. A neighbour, Uwe Hartmann, discovered suspicious red stains on the walls and floor of the basement. The owner of the basement, Markus Feldmann, is currently abroad and cannot be questioned.

The crime scene is a basement compartment in a multi-family house. There is an open fridge with blood stain splatter and drag-marks.

There are four blood stains. One on the wooden wall, one on the fridge door, one at the very bottom of the fridge and the fourth on the bucket with the mop. Label every stain with an evidence marker and take a photograph of each stain.

Now, use the Bio Material Kit as learned in Tutorial 3 to collect all four bio samples.

Pick up the UV-light and look for five fingerprints. One on the floor near the door, one next to the blood stain at the bottom of the fridge, another one on the fridge’s top shelf, the fourth at the top of the fridge door, and the fifth one on top of a cardboard box. Mark them with the evidence marker, then take their photos.

Back in the Lab read the email. You’ve received Markus Feldmann’s fingerprints and DNA profile.

Now, use the Bio Evidence Analysis station to analyse all four biological samples collected at the crime scene. Start the analysis and wait until all four samples are analysed to pick up the results.

4x DNA Profile (Unknown)

You’ve now received an email. Read it to find out that the liquid contains no human DNA. To be thorough, use the DNA Comparison station anyway. Compare all four unknown DNA samples with Markus Feldmann’s DNA profile and label them as “no match”. Pick up the results.

Head over to the Fingerprint Analysis station and compare the five found fingerprints with Markus Feldmann’s. Find five green markers to achieve “very strong evidentiary value”. Three of the five fingerprints is “no match”. Export and pickup all five reports.

Send all the evidence off and you will receive an email that the not matching fingerprint is most likely the fingerprint from Dieter Feldmann, Markus Feldmann’s Father. His DNA profile and fingerprint is attached to the email.

Return to the Bio Evidence Analysis station and analyse Dieter Feldmann’s DNA.

Evidence:
DNA Profile (Dieter Feldmann)

Return to the DNA Comparison station and compare the four crime scene samples to Dieter Feldmann’s DNA Profile. My second sample, the one of the fridge door, matches his profile at the bottom row 4 – 6.

The sample from the bucket and the mop also matches Dieter Feldmann’s DNA in the middle row from 13 to 22.2

Head over to the Fingerprint Analysis station and compare the five found fingerprints with Dieter Feldmann’s. The three “no match” from before match Dieter Feldmann’s. Export and pickup both reports.

Return to the email computer and send off the evidence to complete the case.
