The Daedalian Keys Quest

Meet Nellie in the Transfiguration Courtyard, which is between THE ASTRONOMY WING and THE LIBRARY ANNEX. She will tell you that there are enchanted flying keys out and about. If you catch one, you can open up a cabinet with special things in them.

Follow the quest marker up to the top of THE ASTRONOMY TOWER, which is the highest Fast Travel Point up on THE ASTRONOMY WING. There is a flying key swirling around. It will fly off, when you get too close to it but it does not go far.

Go back down and cast “REVELIO” often. You should see a cabinet through the walls. It has a big round front. That’s where the key went.

Interact with the cabinet to start a mini game, where the key swirls around in front of the lock. SLAP it when it is close to the keyhole, so the key falls into the lock. Inside is 1 of 16 House Tokens. As you return to Nellie, she will tell you that this will open up your House Chest, which can be found in the Ravenclaw Commons Room.

15 more tokens are now needed to open your House Chest.

All 15 Other House Tokens

The best strategy to find all the House Tokens is to find the cabinet first. Then you know that there will be a key somewhere. Here’s where all the Cabinet and the Keys are to get the Tokens.

1 – Library Annex

Enter the Library in THE LIBRARY ANNEX and find the cabinet on ground floor.

The key can be heard. Its humming, almost singing. Also on ground floor but on the other side, in between the bookshelves. Run to it and follow it back to the cabinet, where you have to SLAP it again to open.

2 – Central Hall 1: Library Annex

In THE LIBRARY ANNEX, stay in the Central Hall. The cabinet is at the base of the stairs that lead outside to the courtyard.

To find the key, go exactly to the opposite side of the hall. It’s where the exit is to the greenhouse. Run to it and follow it back to the cabinet, where you have to SLAP it to open.

3 – Central Hall 2: Library Annex

Stay at the Central Hall of THE LIBRARY ANNEX. This time, go up the stairs. The cabinet is near the Fast Travel Point.

To find the key, up the staircase and turn left. The key is underneath the next staircase up. Run to it and follow it back to the cabinet, where you have to SLAP it to open.

4 – Potions Classroom, Library Annex

It comes as a surprise that you’ll run into the key when you enter the Potions Classroom. It’s flying around in the entrance area just in front of the staircase down.

Follow it to the cabinet and give it a SLAP to open.

5 – Next to Frog Choir Room – Bell Tower

Go up from the ground level of The Bell Tower Wing to get to the music room with the Frog Choir in it. Exit the music room through the door on second level and you will get to the cabinet.

To find the key, go downstairs to the area with the big exit door. It’s 3 or 4 floors down, depending on what you call “floor”. The key is flying here. Get closer and follow it back to the cabinet, where you have to SLAP it to open.

6 – Bottom of the Staircase, Bell Tower

Now, where we picked up the previous key, follow the staircase down into the basement. At the top of this basement area is another cabinet.

To find the key, go further down. It’s flying around the dragon statue. Get closer and follow it back to the cabinet, where you have to SLAP it to open.

7 – Wine Cellar, Bell Tower

From the previous dragon statue, follow the path and you will encounter the key before you see the cabinet. It will fly around in the corridor. Follow it to the wine cellar.

Here in the wine cellar is the cabinet. Follow the key to the cabinet, where you have to SLAP it to open.

8 – Rhinoceros Skeleton, Astronomy Wing

When you’re running around carelessly in The Astronomy Wing, you will run into a key just by the Rhinoceros Skeleton by the main staircase. It will guide you to the cabinet.

The cabinet is one level higher up. Follow the key to the cabinet, where you have to SLAP it to open.

9 – The Grand Staircase

The cabinet at The Grand Staircase is just behind a puzzle door – the one with the question marks.

To find the key, run up the Moving Staircase. You will run into the key in around the middle of the Moving Staircase. Follow the key back to the cabinet, where you have to SLAP it to open.

10 – Restricted Area, South Wing

In the South Wing is a locked door and behind is the cabinet. Be patient and follow the story. Eventually you get the Main Quest “THE CARETAKER’S LUNAR LAMENT”, where you are introduced to lock picking.

To find the key, just go up one level. The key is flying around there in the corridor. Follow the key back to the cabinet, where you have to SLAP it to open.

11 – South Exit, South Wing

In the southern exit area, where the big clock swings and where the duelling takes place, there are two Level 1 locked doors. Unlock the one to the left with lock picking and go upstairs. The key will be flying there on the first platform.

The cabinet is one level higher up. There is a staircase. Follow the key back to the cabinet, where you have to SLAP it to open.

12 – Clockwork, South Wing

From the previous House Token, work your way up towards the clockwork. There is a passage full with paintings, where you find another key.

The cabinet is just through this corridor full with paintings. Follow the key back to the cabinet, where you have to SLAP it to open.

13 – The Great Hall

At The GREAT HALL, where meals are served, is a key flying just in front of the fireplace.

Follow the key upstairs to the cabinet.

14 – The Grand Staircase, Quad Courtyard

Exit THE GREAT HALL dining area to the garden. Walk towards THE GRAND STAIRCASE building and you will see the flying key.

The key will fly down to the ground floor of the garden to the cabinet.

15 – The Great Hall, Outside Entrance

Enter THE GREAT HALL through the Main Outside Entrance. Turn left and you will see the cabinet.

For the key, go up to the top of the stairs to the cabinet.

Return to the Common Room

With all 16 Tokens collected, return to the Common Room of your house to open the House Chest.
