Crimson Desert: The Unyielding Shields Questline Walkthrough

#1 – A Thousand Troops

A Thousand Troops is the first quest of five in the fourth questline: The Unyielding Shields in Chapter 6: Cracks in the Shield. After liberating the civilian targets in Turning Tides, you will now liberate the Calphade Castle in the center.

Description:
“The time has come to execute the traitor and retake Calphade Castle. March on the castle and reclaim what was lost.”

Advance to Calphade Castle

After all the preparations, it is now time to approach the castle from the north. Here you will finally find Oonka.

Support Stefan Lanford

While Oonka keeps fighting the Black Bears in the courtyard, you have to advance to find and support Stefan Lanford further inside the castle.

#2 – Traitor

Description:
“It is finally time to bring Cassius Morten, the architect of the uprising, to justice. Find him in the heart of Calphade Castle and strike him down.”

Defeat Cassius Morten

Enter the castle to start the Cassius Morten Bossfight.

Cassius Morten has only one health bar, unlike other bosses, but he is kind of tough. A combination of dodge, followed by Force Palm, and two or three attacks worked for me.

Reward:
Shield of Betrayal

After his defeat, you will receive the reward, and the follow-up quest “All Quiet on the Front” is instantly completed when Marquis Landford rushes into the boss fight room. Just right on time for not joining me in the fight.

#3 – News of Victory

Description:
“The invaders were crushed, and the spark of rebellion extinguished. In commemoration of the great victory, Marquis Lanford requests that you light the beacon yourself to signal the return of peace.”

Follow the Soldier

Exit the boss fight room and meet the soldier outside. Follow him to the beacon. First on foot, then on horseback.

Light the Beacon

Before you go inside to light the beacon, have a look around in this area. It is free to take without stealing, and there is a chest in one of the tents.

Then, enter the tower, climb the stairs to the top, and light an arrow at one of the torches. Shoot the arrow at the beacon to light it.

Reward:

5000 Coins (Camp)
50 Silver
1x Hernand Refinement Token

Before Leaving

While you’re here, why not return to Thalwynd Church and ring that bell (Toll of Pywel, Pororin Quest)? There is also a treasure chest in the church tower.

#4 – Return Home

Return to Howling Hill and speak to Yann and Duane near the main tent. This will complete Chapter 6.
