Sullivan’s Despair is a side quest on Terra Flora in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, unlocked once you’ve cleared the first Darkmess Tentacle during the Uncork the Volcano main quest. Sullivan’s Wiggler Train got banged up in that fight and can’t reach the repair station because Darkmess Thorns are blocking the tracks. A Spark called Oozer Master steps in to help you clear them. Complete the quest and you’ll earn the Oozer Master Spark, the “A Different Appreciation” memory, and a Planet Coin.

Start the Quest
Head to the higher area of Terra Flora and find Sullivan at the Mt. Spout Station flag. Climb the ladder in front of him and go through the green pipe. On the other side, hop in the cannon. After you land, use the WAVE ability (ZR) on the big purple tile – tap it repeatedly – to grow a bridge across.
Remove the First Darkmess Thorn
Cross the new bridge and slide down the ramp on the other side. It looks like a dead end, but it isn’t – pull out your yellow scanner to reveal a hidden bridge, cross it, and take the white pipe you find there.
You’ll land near two purple tiles. The one on the right stabilizes bridges elsewhere on the map, and you’ll need it later – the other grows a bridge down to the next island. Use WAVE on both now while you’re here, so you don’t have to backtrack for the stabilizer.
With the bridge grown, cross over to the first Darkmess Thorn. Hit it with the purple WAVE ability (ZR), tapping it repeatedly, until it’s destroyed.
Remove the Second Darkmess Thorn
One Thorn down. For the second, climb the ladder to the right and use WAVE again to grow another bridge.
You’ll spot two cannons here – one is jammed and needs a yellow circle key you don’t have yet, so take the other instead. On the far side, you’ll hit a purple bridge that still needs stabilizing before you can cross it. Luckily there’s another bridge you can grow nearby, so do that first.
Cross that new bridge, and you’ll end up back at the stabilizer tile from earlier. Use WAVE on it to activate the purple bridge, then head back the way you came and cross it to reach the second Darkmess Thorn. Destroy it the same way as the first.
Remove the Third Darkmess Thorn
With the second Thorn cleared, the yellow circle key is now available nearby – grab it, then drop down the ledge to reach the jammed cannon from earlier.
The unlock device for that cannon sits just below it. Head down, insert the key, and hop into the cannon.
On the other side, use WAVE on the bridge stabilizer to unlock the only crossable purple bridge, then cross it. Scan the rock face on the far side with your yellow scanner to reveal one more hidden bridge, cross that too, and cross the final purple bridge beyond it.
Use WAVE to take down the third and final Darkmess Thorn, then hop in the cannon to reach the repair station and face the Darkmess Puddle. Beat it to complete the quest — you’ll earn the Oozer Master Spark and the “A Different Appreciation” memory, and Sullivan’s Wiggler Train will be back on track.
