Six Statues and the Beast is one of four questlines in Chapter 9 that follow after The Calling. After reading four inscriptions on the statues, four questlines are unlocked. This is the Master Du’s Training: Jijeong Temple encryption.

It reads:
“Learn the way of looking within.
Enlightenment shall begin upon the southern peak, where the morning mist rises.”

Reveal the Secret of the Stone Tablet

Finally, we get to have normal temperatures again, since this training lesson is south of Demeniss, on the big island called Serpent Marsh. To get there, I traveled to Demeniss City and then crossed over at the Smuggler’s Dock just above Demeniss Port. Using the natural bridges combined with the horses’ jump and swim abilities.

There is also an Abyss Nexus fast-travel point halfway. As soon as you cross the river here, you are on the island and the quest is complete.

Description:
“The temple is in turmoil. Go see what is going on.”

Talk to the Chief Monk

On the way to the temple to meet the Chief Monk, you will encounter a panther-like creature attacking and warning you. In this area is a statue with two broken arms. Ignore it for now to first speak to the Chief Monk.

The staircase to the monk is behind the statue. Climb them to find the Chief Monk. There is also an Abyss Nexus here, just above the Witch’s hidden cave.

The Chief Monk is inside the sad-looking temple ruins. The monk is a shai and will first mention the broken statue at the bottom of the mountain.

Repair the First Pensive Statue

Return to the bottom of the mountain to where the statue with the two broken arms is. Use Axiom Force to pick up the arms, carry them to the statue, and align them as well as possible with the breaking point. Then, climb the statue and use Force Palm to repair the statue.

Do this with both arms, and the area will be altered by moving mountains.

Repair the Second Pensive Statue

For the second pensive statue, climb the stairs to the temple again and move south from the Abyss Nexus.

Follow the staircase until it ends, then look over to the other side. You will see another staircase. Fly across and keep following the staircase up. Climb up the same mountain when the staircase ends to find another piece.

Keep following the staircase to the top. It will lead through a dark cave, and it will be quite a long stretch. The statue you have to repair is at the top. As you will see, it toppled down from the top plateau. Climb up and use Axiom Force to lift it up to the platform again.

First, align the statue with the platform. Then climb it and use Force Palm while jumping to direct the force downwards. Once the statue is repaired, focus on the two hands. You can see their location on the minimap.

Hint: Always use Axiom Force at the other end of the damaged area to align it better.

Repair the Third Pensive Statue

After putting all the parts back together, the mountains will shift, revealing the next statue’s location in the southwest. Cross over by flying to the next mountain.

Land on this mountain to find a gate with a small staircase leading down. Follow the staircase down to a broken bridge.

Once on the other side, look down until you see a staircase down below at water level. Fly and glide down into the cave below to find the statue. One hand is at the statue’s base, the other hand on the other side of the water. The one on the other side: Drop it onto the ledge, so you can grab it from the statue’s side!

Description
“The pensive statues have been fully restored. It is time to return to the chief monk and deliver the news.”

Tell the Monk the Pensive Statues have been Restored

Talk to the monk next. He is not at the temple anymore. Instead, he’s on top of the mountain to the east of the Abyss Nexus. There is a staircase you can take from the water level. It is a parkour way that leads over a long rope.

Apart from the stairs, look for poles with colorful flags to guide your way.

“There are training grounds around Jijeong Temple where one can achieve enlightenment. Train and hone the mind.”

The First Jijeong Temple Training Ground starts west of the Jijeong Temple at a wooden door. Approach the door to start. It’s a timed trial where eight glowing dots must be collected along the path before time runs out. I wish I could give you good advice, but this is just practice…

Train at the Second Jijeong Temple Training Ground

The Second Jijeong Temple Training Ground is on the southern island. From the monk’s position, I flew straight over. I just made a quick pitstop on top of one of the mountains to collect an Abyss Artifact, which is quite a useful fast-travel point as well.

I then went over to the south, wooden gate down below. Approach the closed wooden gate, go through it, and the trial starts.

Then climb the nearby staircase to the last wooden door (I actually used the same path before to reach the monk).

Description
“Once your training finished, the long-dormant gate at the pagoda atop the highest peak finally creaked open.”

Go to the Pagoda Atop the Peak

Now all that remains is to visit the Jijeong Temple Pagoda. I used the closest fast-travel point and climbed the second statue again to reach the Pagoda. The door will open, revealing an Abyss Gateway behind it.

Enter the Pagoda and interact with the Abyss Gate. At the other end, you can activate the Jinjeong Temple Pagoda Abyss Nexus.

Achieve Enlightenment

Enter the chamber ahead and go to the right, where the Abyss Power Core is. Find the staircase that leads up.

Head upstairs to the temple. There are three Refined Palmar Pillas and the Alchemy Recipe for them. Then approach the platform to meditate to complete the questline.

While you’re here, there is a Bamboo Forest Riddle in the north of the island. Notice that there is a cairn in front of the Abyss Relic tower? There are three cairn stones nearby on the floor. Pick them up and pile them on top of the cairns to receive an Abyss Artifact.

The Witch of Humility is living on this island. To make her friendly to invite you into her house, you first have to save someone. There is a person hanging on the broken bridge east of Beighen. Help them out, and the Witch of Humility questline is available to you.
