Crimson Desert: Shattered Ties Questline Walkthrough

#1 – Mark of the Scar

Shattered Ties is one of four questlines in Chapter 9 that follow after The Calling. After reading four inscriptions on the statues, four questlines are unlocked. This is the Master Du’s Training: Insight encryption.

It reads:
“Bear within you the purpose to mend the balance that falters. True enlightenment shall begin when the sanctum’s order is restored.”

Reveal the Secret of the Stone Tablet

For Master Du’s Training: Insight, you have to travel north to Urdavah in the Crimson Desert. You may come across the Great Gate of Urdavah with the Insitute research office at the very top. But it is blocked until you’ve completed Shattered Ties.

At the target location, at the top of the mountain, there is a dragon sleeping right next to the Abyss Nexus. Discovering the dragon will also give you the “Back Hang” ability that you can use to hang onto big animals and creatures to ride them. As regards climbing, I found it easier to climb up from the northeast side. Instead of climbing, you can head to the top of the Great Gate of Urdavah, where a path leads up to the mountain.

#2 – Shackles of Fate

Description:
“With a spear lodged in its back, the massive dragon circles low in the skies of Urdavah, gasping for breath.”

Cleanse the Corruption Binding the Dragon

For the next step, cleansing the corruption, you have to go to the Great Gate of Urdavah in the south. As you approach, you will notice that everyone is dead and the dragon is circling in the distance.

As you walk to the other side of the roof, the Riding Dragons guide will pop up. The dragon is called Blackstar, and you can grab it with Axiom Force and then mount it like a horse.

Guess riding the dragon is next to cleanse it from the corruption. Enter the orange quest area and press the “Wait Dragon” button. It will approach, and you get a chance to hop on it. It is all a matter of training. I failed a couple of times before I got the hang of it.

Tips:
1 – You can use “Wait Dragon” when falling after a failed attempt.
2 – Wait for the dragon to be below you. Find the best timing to glide above it. Boarding will be easier.
3 – Once on the back, enter Focus, hold the Force Palm button, and aim at the sticks on its back.
