Crimson Desert: All Tales of the Pailunese Merchants Quests

How to Get the Questline

To unlock the Tales of the Pailunese Merchants questline, you first need to liberate Pailune in Chapter 7 of the main quest. After that, start the Reconstructing Pailune questline. This has three parts: Grounds of the Sunrise and the Greymane quest. Completing the first step of Reconstructing Pailune brings the merchants back to the city and makes their requests available.

Notice Boards in Pailune

Several of the 13 merchant requests are not found by talking to the merchants directly. Instead, they are posted as flyers on the Notice Board in the north of Pailune City, right next to the Constabulary. Check the Notice Board regularly as new requests unlock throughout the questline. The merchants who use the Notice Board are Ronnard, Terianne, Gorio, Ava, Bargul, Varis, Gunter, Lola, Eldred, and Rocco. For those merchants, skip to their section below for the full walkthrough. Once you have picked up a poster, head to the merchant named on it to begin the quest.

Ronnard’s Request

Ronnard was my eighth request. Rocco was next.

The poster reads:
“Looking for warm leather.
The cold grows harsher with each passing day, and my hands are too numb to work outdoors. I need leather to make warm gloves. If you can bring me some, I’ll make sure you’re properly rewarded.

Ronnard, the Provisioner of Pailune”

Ronnard is one of Pailune City’s Provisioners and has his shop in the northern parts of town. He has cold hands and needs two short hair hides. Thankfully, I already had those in my inventory. If you don’t have them, hunt deer just outside of Pailune City or buy some at the tannery.

Terianne’s Request

Terianne was my fourth request. Ava was next.

The poster reads:
“Looking for someone to gather insect-repelling flowers.
Lately, bugs have been swarming around the meat, making storage a real problem. No matter how many times I drive them off, they return in no time, leaving me to wrestle with them all day. I’ve heard that strongly scented flowers, known to repel insects, bloom around the village. If you can bring me some, I’ll reward you with fresh meat.

Terianne, the Butcher of Pailune”

Terianne is Pailune City’s butcher and has her shop in the southern market. Talk to her to listen to her request. She needs flowers to repel the insects at her stall.

Obtain three Shrubby Sophoras. They grow all over the place, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you had some in your inventory. If so, hand them over; if not, head to the location marked on the map. It’s just outside the northern town walls.

Return to Terianne and hand over the three Shrubby Sophoras.

Gorio’s Request

Gorio was my sixth request. Varis was next.

The poster reads:
“I am looking for someone to gather the materials needed to craft new armor.
The soldiers’ equipment has worn thin, making it difficult for them to withstand this harsh environment. We are in desperate need of strong, durable materials. The deer of the snowfields possess thick, warm coats, and having matured in the extreme cold, their hides are said to be incredibly tough.
Bring these materials to me, and you will be rewarded accordingly.“

Gorio has his equipment shop at Skoghorn, in the far west of Pailune City. If you’re planning to come back and are too lazy or tired to ride or walk, Skoghorn’s Abyss Nexus is by the river in the west of Skoghorn, as shown in the screenshots below.

Gorio in Skoghorn needs three short hair hides. Thankfully, they were already in my inventory. If you don’t have any, hunt deer or buy them at any tanner. Hand them over to Gorio.

Harry’s Request

Harry was my second request. Richart was next.

Description:
“Harry of Pailune has requested the delivery of repaired tools to their owners.”

Harry is Pailune City’s blacksmith and has his shop in the northern parts of town. Talk to him about his request. He wants you to deliver repaired tools back to their owners.

To hand over the logging axe, go to the logging camp on top of the hill in the center of Pailune City. There is a carpenter waiting for his axe. Use your lantern to hand it over.

To hand over the fishing rod, go to the docks in the east of town. There is one person amongst the fishermen who doesn’t have a fishing rod. Hand it over to him.

Return to Harry at the forge. Talk to him to complete Harry’s Request.

Ava’s Request

Ava was my fifth request. Gorio was next.

The poster reads:
“Looking for a special ingredient from the river with exceptional taste and aroma.
I want to prepare a new menu at the tavern. To do that, I need a fish with plump and glistening meat. I’m seeking someone who can catch this fish from the river in front of the village, and deliver it to the tavern. I urgently need the help of a skilled angler.

Ava, the Tavernkeep of Pailune Militia Barracks”

Ava is Pailune City’s Innkeeper and needs a fish from the nearby river for her next dish.

You now have to obtain a northern pike. I don’t like the fishing mechanics in Crimson Desert, so I always look for a fish merchant to buy the desired fish from. Alfric at the southern docks of Pailune City is selling northern pike. So either fish for one or buy one at the shop.

Return to Ava and hand over the northern pike.

Bargul’s Request

Bargul was my thirteenth and last request

Bargul will be unlocked after liberating the Odeck Tribe in the “Executioner of Justice” questline. It comes after the Longleaf Tribe questline. With Odeck liberated, you will find Bargul’s request on the notice board.

The poster reads:
Seeking help gathering materials for village repairs.

Repairs on houses and walls are underway throughout the village. We have plenty of timber, but we are short on the stones needed for a solid foundation.
Your assistance in securing these stones will ensure our villagers have safe and warm homes.

Bargul, the Equipment Vendor of Odeck

Bargul has an Equipment Shop in Odeck. Talk to him about his request.

Acquire 5 Stones, either by mining them yourself or buying them from quarries. Then find Bargul’s assistant in the east by the fishing shop to hand over the stones.

Leonard’s Request

Leonard was my first request. Harry was next.

Description:
“Leonard, the tanner, has requested information on whether the village’s leather craftsman is willing to work with him.”

Leonard is Pailune City’s tanner and has his house in the northeast of the town. Enter the shop and listen to his request. He needs help with his workload and has someone in mind. He gives you “Leonard’s Note”.

Check Leonard’s note in your inventory.

It reads:
“Head to the eastern dock by the river.
He’s usually there, watching the goods come in by boat.
You won’t have trouble finding him.
Look for a man in blue wearing a bull helmet with large black horns.
Go explain my situation to him.
Tell him I’m on the verge of collapsing!”

Now we need to find someone at the docks, wearing blue clothes and a helmet with large, black horns. But there is no one there who looks like this. Talk to the tall man in green clothes and an antler hat. He will pass you the Assistant’s Note.

Check the Assistant’s Note in your inventory.

It reads:
“Oh, if you’re looking for my master, you just missed him.
He said he wanted to try dyeing the newly arrived leather himself and rushed off to the dye shop.
He seemed to have twisted his ankle in a hurry and was limping a bit.
So if you see someone limping, that’ll be him. Head that way.”

You now need to head south of Pailune town to find the person in blue and the black-horned helmet. He’s standing at the entrance of the small red house on the upper level of the area. Talk to him.

Return to Leonard at his shop. Talk to him to complete Leonard’s Request.

Varis’s Request

Varis was my seventh request. Ronnard was next.

The poster reads:
“Looking for rare ingredients for the shop.
I need a special mushroom said to draw people in with just its aroma. It only grows in damp regions, so I’d prefer someone with plenty of foraging experience to take on this task. Anyone who brings me these mushrooms will be rewarded with fresh ingredients and my heartfelt thanks.
– Varis, the Grocer of Pailune”

Varis is Pailune City’s grocer in the northern part of town. He wants you to collect three oakwood mushrooms.

The quest marker for the mushrooms will lead you southeast of Pailune, across the lake.

Pick three mushrooms and head south near Beighen, where you can hand them over to Varis’ assistant.

Gunter’s Request

Gunter was my twelfth request. Bargul was next.

The poster reads:
“Seeking a swift courier for an urgent delivery.
A local youth is soon to celebrate their coming-of-age ceremony. I’ve prepared a special gift for the occasion, but it has yet to be delivered.
This item carries great significance and is meant to accompany them on the journey ahead. Please, lend your assistance to ensure it reaches their hands in time for the ceremony.

Gunter, the Equipment Merchant of Pailune”

Gunter is the owner of Pailune City’s Equipment Shop. He’s next to the blacksmith in the north of town. He needs you to deliver a dagger.

The recipient is just a few steps to the southwest of Gunter’s location.

Lola’s Request

Lola was my eleventh request. Gunter was next.

The poster reads:
“Seeking help with crafting clothes.
Not long ago, I saw tiny wings fluttering through the sunlight. Their colors and patterns were so beautiful that they held my gaze for quite some time.
I want to study those colors and textures up close to craft a special piece of clothing. If you could catch a few insects with beautiful wings for me, I will be sure to reward you.

Lola, the Tailor of Pailune”

Lola is Pailune City’s tailor. The shop is in the town’s southern market. She wants you to catch three meadow butterflies.

Thankfully, she will provide you with a map marker on where to find the meadow butterflies. The location is a bit further north, east of Svinholt Ranch. They are yellow butterflies in a blue flower patch in the forest.

Catch three and head to Svinholt ranch to hand them over to Lola’s assistant, standing by the Notice Board.

Eldred’s Request

Eldred was my tenth request. Lola was next.

The poster reads:
“Help Wanted: Stable Maintenance
The stable floors have worn thin lately, and the horses are unable to rest comfortably. For them to run with energy all day, they need a clean and cushioned floor.
I am looking for someone to help refurbish the stable and improve the horses’ environment. With your help, they will be able to rest comfortably once again

Eldred, the Saddler of Pailune”

Eldred is Pailune City’s Saddler and has their shop in the north of town. Eldred is running out of straw and is asking you to get some.

You will receive Eldred’s note. It reads:
“The farmer should be resting at the farmhouse. They’re in front of the Pailune Barracks, so head over there.”

The farm Eldred mentions in the note is just east of the saddler’s location. There is a Farmer’s note. Take it and read it:
“Stepping out for a bit. If it’s urgent, come by the provisioner’s shop.”

The Provisioner’s Shop, the farmer notes, is just south. It’s Ronnard’s shop. Enter the shop and speak with the person inside to receive the Provisioner’s Shop Note. It reads:
“Going to the field to deliver something. If you need me, come to the field. I’ll be wearing a red headscarf, so you should spot me easily.”

Head over to the field in the northwest of the provisioner’s shop. The farmer is wearing a red headscarf. Talk to him to complete the quest.

Rocco’s Request

Rocco was my ninth request. Eldred was next.

The poster reads:
“Seeking someone fleet of foot.
I have an object that must be delivered with haste. It must reach the recipient before they cross the mountain pass.
I cannot leave my shop unattended, so I am unable to go myself. If anyone is willing to take this task, I will provide a reward worthy of your effort.

Rocco, the Provisioner of Pailune”

Rocco is a Provisioner and has his shop at Skoghorn in the west of Pailune. He wants you to deliver a shovel.

The recipient is also in Skoghorn, just a couple of steps to the west of Rocco’s shop. Talk to him and deliver the shovel.

Richart’s Request

Richart was my third request. Terrianne was next.

The poster reads:
“I am looking for materials for a special medicinal wine.
As the cold wind starts to blow, I have been feeling weak more frequently. I want to brew a special medicinal wine to boost my strength during these times. To ensure its effectiveness, I need rare materials that are difficult to obtain. I require several of them to maximize the potency, so I am looking for someone who can provide a generous supply.

Mary, the Provisioner of Beighen”

Oddly enough, the Request in the game menu is listed as Richart’s Request, but the poster is signed with “Mary”. Let’s go with Richart. He’s the Provisioner in Beighen. Enter the shop and talk to him about his request. He needs help brewing a tonic with five centipedes.

Hopefully, there is a map marker where you can find centipedes. It’s not something I usually carry around. The marker leads west of the shop near the river. They look like long worms on the floor. Find and collect five of those.

Hand over the five centipedes to Richart’s assistant, further west from the centipede patch to complete Richart’s request.
