Location: Desan

Desan sits high up on a rock pillar. The easiest way to get there for the first time is with the Galenta from Looking for a Galentasitter. Before you start any quests, find Desan’s Daoka Core and repair the Daoka fast-travel gate. Select the center quest in the village quest menu to be guided to the outpost with the Daoka Core.

While you are at that outpost, free the prisoner. Interact with three terminals, then with the prison cells. Scan the area to find the terminals more easily.

Desan has two chiefs: Brom, the Rebel Leader, and Naduul, the former Village Chief. Brom does not trust you yet. Talk to Naduul about everything he offers (Nom-Nom, Desan, Invaders, Recycle). When you ask him about Recycle, he gives you a secret phrase so the villagers trust you. Naduul also has one of the scrolls for Keep Scrolling.

Location: Junkyard at ground level below Desan

Open the Desan quest menu and select the quest with the subquest Polluted Environment – Clean the Junkyard. A minimap marker leads you down below the village. Once you are inside the blue circle at ground level, scan for Krakit Burrows and Toxic Barrels. In scanner view, the barrels are highlighted in yellow and the Krakit Burrows in red.

You have to destroy 8 of each. Shoot the Toxic Barrels to destroy them. The Krakit Burrows need two melee hits. The best strategy is to kill the Krakits around a burrow first, rush in to hit the burrow twice, then deal with the rest of the Krakits.

Destroy Spy Drones

Select the Nom-Nom subquest in the Desan quest menu. It is part of the same quest as the junkyard. If you already destroyed the drones roaming around the village, you can probably skip this part. If not, select it to get a minimap marker for the drones.

Free Desan’s Shamaz

Next, select Free Desan’s Shamaz. He is held at the outpost northeast of Desan. Flying there with the Galenta and working your way down from the top works well. As always in outposts, scan for the terminals and deactivate them.

The Shamaz prison cell is in the main building. Deactivate three terminals to open the cell. Deactivate four terminals to open the Officers’ Quarters for a weapon upgrade.

Location: Hospital at the lowest point of Desan, below Naduul

Note: Makan, the Nom-Nom Race Organizer, belongs to the 3… 2… 1… Go! Village Quest in the bottom left corner of the quest menu. He tells you the races are off because the Nom-Noms are ill. Scan the village to find him.

Zannat is the Shamaz you just freed. He is at the hospital at the lowest point of Desan, below Naduul. He cannot heal animals, but he sends you to Zaleb in Sappa.

Location: Zaleb’s hut in Sappa

Zaleb is in his hut in Sappa. If you played A Ventilope for Everything, you already know him. Talk to him about the Nom-Nom. He tells you the only cure ingredient Desan does not have is Black Algae.

Location: Underwater, northeast of Sappa

Black Algae grow underwater northeast of Sappa. Dive for them and watch out for the aggressive fish. You need three, but the stockpile holds ten, so you may as well collect the maximum while you are here.

Back in Desan, deposit the Black Algae in the Black Algae stockpile inside Draod’s house. Draod is the Alchemist and Philosopher, and he lives at the very top of the village. The stockpile is highlighted in yellow when you scan.

Location: Hospital in Desan

Return to Zannat at the hospital and talk to him about Black Algae. He sends you to Draod, the Alchemist.

Draod is in his house at the top of the village. Talk to him about Black Algae and he starts brewing the Nom-Nom cure. Pick up the cure from the rack inside his house, close to the Black Algae stockpile. You may already know Draod from Explosive Idea.

Location: Around Desan

This is the tricky part. The ill Nom-Noms are the red animals floating around Desan. To cure one, land on its back and interact with it to give it the cure.

Flying close to a Nom-Nom with the Galenta makes this much easier. The Gravity Helper jetpack ability also helps, because it lets you slowly move into the right position. Heal 5 Nom-Noms to complete Toxic Humanity. The Nom-Noms are now ready to race!
