The Thaumaturge The Mermaid City’s Son Walkthrough: Wanda Choices and Voronin’s Bottle

The Thaumaturge The Mermaid City’s Son is the main quest that starts with your arrival in Warsaw. This walkthrough shows you every way out of the kettling incident with Wanda, the fight at Powazki Cemetery, the bottle for Voronin in the cellar and all Text collectibles along the way.

Location: Warsaw – Vienna Station
Text Collectibles: 7 in this step

After Shadows of Sins Past, you arrive by train in Warsaw. Before you leave Vienna Station, pick up the seven Text collectibles inside the hall.

The Wanted Notice is pinned on a board at the very top left of the station. Not far from it, the Anti-Thaumaturge Leaflets lie on the floor next to some benches, and “The Country” Weekly Magazine lies on the bench to their left.

The Revolutionary Leaflets lie on the floor in the center of the hall, close to the ticket counter. The Warsaw Courier lies on a bench near the exit to Southern Srodmiescie. In the restaurant on the right, The Daily Courier lies on one of the tables and the Menu sits on top of the counter.

Location: Southern Srodmiescie – outside Vienna Station
Clues: Request from a Girl in Trouble, Pistol Bullets, Gendarme Readiness, Police Barrier, Workers’ Leader

Leave Vienna Station through the Southern Srodmiescie exit. In the cutscene, the police kettle everyone in front of the station, and you meet Wanda, who asks you to help her escape. This gives you the observations Request from a Girl in Trouble and Pistol Bullets.

Talk to the police officer in charge for Gendarme Readiness, then inspect the barrier to the left for Police Barrier.

Next, talk to the Workers’ Leader, standing alone at the center of the scene, for the Workers’ Leader observation. Now you can Draw a Conclusion about The Manhunt at the Station.

Choice: How you get out of the kettling incident
Manipulate needs: 2 Deed points

After the conclusion, you see the Bukavac standing next to the police officer. Talk to the officer, and you can pick one of these ways out:

Manipulate the officer into accusing the Worker
Needs 2 Deed points. The police arrest the Workers’ Leader and let everyone else go. Wanda thanks you and suggests that you meet again, which unlocks the Another Meeting observation and the Wanda conclusion.

Hand Wanda over to the police
This option appears after you examine the Pistol Bullets Wanda dropped. You turn her in for helping the rebels.

Invoke your last name or goad the police into fighting
Both dialogue options lead to a fight with the police.

Fight alongside the Workers’ Leader
Offer the Workers’ Leader your help, and you start a clash with the police together.

Whichever way you choose, you can then take a carriage to your father’s funeral at Powazki Cemetery.

At Powazki Cemetery, go to the cemetery entrance that is blocked by a crowd. After talking to the Shady Men blocking the entrance, you have to defeat them in a fight before you can enter. Choose Upyr in this fight for the ability to heal.

The Szulski Mausoleum is at the top of the cemetery map. Before you go there, pick up the Parish Announcements at the cemetery gate and the Obituary Notice on the message board at the gate. Inside the cemetery, Stanislaw’s Obituary hangs on the message board, and you can read three tombs: Marja Wisnowska, Jan Chmielec and Graf Friedrich Karl Nesselrode.

At the mausoleum, talk to Mordechaj Chajat, then enter to attend your father’s funeral.

Location: Powazki Cemetery – inside the Szulski Mausoleum

After the cutscene, you are still inside the mausoleum. Use Perception to find the observations Thaumaturge’s Wreath, Offensive Note and Bouquet with a Note, which unlock the conclusion Stanislaw’s Funeral. Two Text collectibles are here as well: the Tombstone of Jozefina Szulska and the Tombstone of Nikodem Szulski.

Then head to the cemetery exit. After the cutscene, you can travel with your family or go alone if you want to explore further.

Location: Northern Srodmiescie – Szulski Family Tenement House, ground floor
Text Collectibles: 5 in this step

The Szulski Family Tenement House is in the south of Northern Srodmiescie, just to the right of the Carriage Stop. It has a ground floor and a first floor. Start with the Text collectibles on the ground floor.

Father’s Portrait hangs just above the fireplace. The Warsaw Courier: Evening Extra lies on a coffee table in the northwestern corner, and the Bust of Morana stands in an alcove next to the staircase to the first floor.

In the kitchen, 365 Dinner Recipes for 5 Zlotys by Lucyna C. lies on one of the tables, and Grazyna’s Liqueur Recipe is on a small table to the left of the kitchen area.

Before you head to the cellar or the first floor, talk to Voronin, the highly decorated soldier in the kitchen. He wants you to find him something to drink, which updates your quest journal.

Text Collectibles: 1 in this step

Find the basement door on the ground floor (it is also marked on the in-game map) and go down to the cellar. Use Perception to scan the room for three bottles: the Pinot Noir from Oregon on the wine rack at the top right, the Sauvignon de Bordeaux on the table close to the portrait and the Quince Liqueur with Amber on the floor on the far left.

With all three bottles, you can Draw a Conclusion. Before you leave, pick up the Text collectible Mother’s Portrait in the cellar – you can’t miss it.

Return to Voronin and give him one of the bottles. He is pleased with the Quince Liqueur, which triggers a Point of Interest: you can have a drink with him and capture the moment in your notebook.

Next quest: What We Leave Behind

Your father’s study is on the first floor, up the stairs at the far back of the main hall. Before you go in, collect the Text collectibles on this floor.

Sirin’s Bust stands at the top of the staircase. The book Pseudomonarchia Daemonum lies next to the toilet in the bathroom.

In Ligia’s bedroom, you find four: the Message from Mother next to the room divider, My Letter from Rome, July 1896 on the dresser, The Polish Gazette: Evening Edition at the base of the bed and My Letter from Paris, November 1896 on the desk.

In the study, the Szulski Family Portrait hangs on the wall behind the big desk, and Stanislaw’s Last Will is in the library on the upper level of the study.

Now speak with the Notary inside the study to hear your father’s will and complete The Mermaid City’s Son. Afterwards, talk to Ligia and Voronin to start the next main quest, What We Leave Behind.
