“Attend the Symposium at the House of Wisdom”

1 – Attend the Great Symposium

Case Text:
“Al-Rabisu is hiding in the House of Wisdom.”

Travel back to the House of Wisdom, or fast travel to a nearby synchronization point. Talk to Kahraman in the courtyard to join the Symposium.

Eavesdrop on the Poetry Fans

Use Eagle Vision to find opportunities. Follow the main quest marker to a group of people in the ground floor courtyard.

They turn out to be poetry fans. Sit on the nearby bench to start the Eavesdrop activity. You learn that the poet Arib is resting in the eastern outer courtyard.

Follow Nehal to Ahmad’s Workshop

Find Nehal in the courtyard and follow her. She has found something interesting and leads you to Ahmad’s workshop to look at unusual diagrams. Use Assassin Focus to find them: one is near the Historic Site Orb and another in the center aisle of the next room.

The third diagram is also close to the Historic Site Orb. It is a tall one at the back of the room.

Where to Find the Poet Arib

With the workshop done, find the poet Arib in the eastern outer courtyard. The quickest way is to exit through the workshop’s window, which puts you right there. Talk to her.

Fazil’s Lecture

A horn sounds, a sign that the lecture is about to begin. Return to the center courtyard and speak to Kahraman again to attend Fazil’s lecture in the lecture hall. Here, Fazil is unmasked as the target.

2 – Two Ways into the Basement

After the lecture, look for where Fazil went. There are various intel and opportunities to help you reach him, and two opportunity markers on the map. They reveal two ways into the basement: the rooftop gardener’s key or the gatekeeper’s passphrase. This guide follows the passphrase route.

Eavesdrop on the Secret Tunnels

One of the opportunities is an Eavesdrop in the center courtyard. There are rumors of secret tunnels, and you get the hint that the rooftop gardener has the key to the basement. That is the first way to get there.

Bribe Fazil’s Assistant

Talk to Fazil’s assistant in the courtyard about the hidden basement. He only helps if you bribe him with one of your favor tokens.

The Gatekeeper

The other opportunity is in the room just behind Kahraman. The gatekeeper guards the door behind him and waits for a secret phrase. This is the second way to get to the basement.

3 – Gatekeeper Passphrase

The gatekeeper asks “Those Who Came Before are…?” The answer is “…Are Those Who Shall Return”. The passphrase is in Fazil’s astronomy book on a private reading balcony, and you can only answer after reading it.

Eavesdrop on the Librarian

Since you don’t know the secret phrase yet, look up to spot another Eavesdrop opportunity. Take the staircase next to the gatekeeper and sit on the bench to start it. The librarian has lost Fazil’s book with the secret passphrase. Follow him through the staff entry into the restricted area.

The Note in the Staff Corridor

In the first corridor of the staff area, where the enemy Captain stands, a note pinned on the wall says someone left a book in the stairwell. With Eagle Vision, look down to spot the document. The staircase is just down the corridor, around the corner. Picking it up gives you the hint that a book on astronomy contains the passphrase for the guarded room.

The Private Reading Balcony Note

Go back up. At the end of the corridor is a room guarded by another Captain. A note in this room mentions a private reading balcony. Unbar the door in this room and continue on the other side.

Where to Find Fazil’s Astronomy Book

You are now in the two library wings where you found the Caretaker of Books. Go all the way to the back, where the last staircase comes up from the ground floor. With Eagle Vision on, you can see the book outside, behind the wall.

That is where the private balcony is. You can reach it from the second floor library: pretty much in the middle, a door leads out. Read the book to learn the passphrase, then answer the gatekeeper with “…Are Those Who Shall Return”.

4 – Secret Entrance to the Basement

The Room Behind the Gatekeeper

Inside the gatekeeper’s room, read the document to learn about a Secret Entrance. There is a bookshelf in this room that you can pull out to go down to the basement.

White Patient Robe Disguise

The basement is a restricted area. Go through it, past the enemy Captain guarding a passage to a room with an opportunity. It is a note about robes that gives Basim the idea to wear one.

A deceased with a robe lies behind a barred door, so you have to go around. Enter the prison next door and slide through to the robes from there.

Basim now wears the White Patient Robe disguise. Take the nearby exit towards the guards and follow the guard who sees you as the “next subject”.

5 – Assassinate Fazil the Great Scholar

Blend In and Assassinate Fazil

Walk to the center of the circle where Fazil is and “Blend in” to assassinate Fazil, the Order member known as Al-Rabisu. This closes the investigation.

The Path Ahead Letter

The way out leads through Fazil’s office, where you can read some more documents. One letter, “The Path Ahead”, contributes to the Head of the Order – Al-Bahamut investigation. Then return to the Abbasiyah Bureau.
