Ahmad ibn Musa Investigation Overview

Investigation Text:
“We have not heard from Ahmad ever since he returned to his workshop at the House of Wisdom.”

1 – Travel to the House of Wisdom

Case Text:
“Ahmad ibn Musa has a workshop in the House of Wisdom.”

Ahmad, a member of the Hidden Ones, has gone missing. Track the case to get a marker for the House of Wisdom on your map. On the way, Basim points out smoke coming out of the House of Wisdom. When you arrive, you learn that someone burnt books. In the conversation, ask about Ahmad.

This closes the lead and reveals two new cases: Ahmad’s Workshop for this investigation and The Caretaker of Books for The Book Burner investigation.

2 – Search Ahmad’s Workshop

Case Text:
“Ahmad’s workshop could reveal his whereabouts.”

Investigate Ahmad’s Office

Activate the case and send Enkidu up to look for opportunities. In the center courtyard, a person is highlighted. Talk to Kahraman, who tells you the workshop is right behind him, and the marker updates to a door at the back.

As you enter, Nehal turns up and hands over a book, and the investigation of the office starts. Examine these four clues:
The large document on the table
The leather bag
The stack of books
A document in the secret office behind the bookshelf at the back of the room. Push the shelf in, then to the left to get inside

Follow the Assistant and Kill the Attackers

Once all clues are found, Ahmad’s assistant comes around the corner. Talk to him and follow him to the garden, where he calls the guards on you. Defeat them, then interrogate the assistant. His name is Hamid, and he tells you a masked man threatened him to keep quiet. He hands over a map to the Excavation Site in the Wilderness.

3 – Excavation Site Location in the Wilderness

Case Text:
“Hamid provided a map to the House of Wisdom’s dig site.”

Where to Find Hamid’s Map

You only get a quest marker for the dig site after you read Hamid’s map. Open the Investigation tab and select the Excavation Site case. The map is in the bottom left corner under Related Clues. Then open your world map, where you find the location shown below, in the Wilderness southwest of Baghdad.

Travel out into the desert. When you arrive, send Enkidu up to find the next marker at the entrance of the excavation site.

Investigate the Excavation Site

As you get closer, Enkidu spots two opportunities: a worker sweeping the floor and a group of mercenaries standing together near a crane. The mercenary leader helps you in exchange for a Power Favor Token. You can also skip this and use Enkidu to scan the site for the three chests you have to search.

With or without the mercenaries, you have to open the chests yourself. Use Assassin Focus to spot the patrolling and stationed guards. Some guards stand right under a crane, where a throwing knife drops the load on them. Tall grass is great for sneaking, and a smoke bomb helps you move around undetected.

Find the Chest Behind the Shelf

The two chests you can see in the camp are empty. The real clue is on the bottom floor of the excavation site, where a marker shows a movable shelf. Push it to the left to reach the chest behind it with a note inside. This closes the Excavation Site case and reveals the fourth case, The Doctor.

4 – The Doctor – Assassinate Doctor Hassan

Case Text:
“Doctor Hassan uncovered an artifact at the dig site.”

The note from the Excavation Site leads you to Doctor Hassan. He works at The Great Bimaristan in the south of the Abbasiyah district.

Find the Key to Doctor Hassan’s Office

Use Assassin Focus to find Doctor Hassan’s office. It is the red glowing door with a sign in front of it. The door is locked, so you need the key first.

The Head Nurse carries the key. Use Assassin Focus again to find her, pickpocket the key and unlock the office.

Search Doctor Hassan’s Office

Inside, search for clues to the doctor’s whereabouts. Examine the leather bag on top of a scroll shelf and the letter on a table. They reveal that Doctor Hassan is an Order member called Al-Azhdaha, and he becomes your assassination target.

Eavesdrop on the Doctors

In front of the office, you get an eavesdrop opportunity. Sit down on the bench inside the circle to listen in. You learn that Doctor Hassan always locks his laboratory.

Reach the Locked Laboratory

Open Assassin Focus and look for the key symbol, which marks the locked laboratory. It is on the upper floor, a restricted area full of guards, so watch out for archers who spot you easily. Sneak around the outside of the building and find the window on the other side of the barred doors. Throw a knife at the lock through the window to open the room right next to the laboratory.

Now sneak past the guards into the room next to the laboratory.

Climb the Vent and Break the Barricade

One shelf in this room can be moved, but some pottery is in the way. Destroy it, then pull the shelf all the way across so you can climb up the vent.

From up in the vent, destroy the barricade at the barred window on the other side of the room.

Assassinate Doctor Hassan and Leave the Bimaristan

Go back outside and climb into the laboratory from the terrace to assassinate Doctor Hassan. In the cutscene that follows, you see a mysterious book and talk to Ahmad.

Leave the Bimaristan to complete the investigation. Ahmad ibn Musa has been found and returns to the Bureau. According to Ahmad, the Order is building a dangerous machine, which becomes a case in the Al-Rabisu – Mastermind in the Shadows investigation.
