Starfield Powers – All 24 Temples and Power From Beyond

Tags:

Starfield powers all come from the same place: an ancient temple hidden on a planet somewhere in the settled systems. Vladimir Sall points you at the anomalies, the Power From Beyond mission drops you at a Scanner Anomaly landing site, and from there it is down to your scanner and one short zero-gravity puzzle. This guide covers the whole loop in one place, so you can stop hunting for a separate page per planet.

You will find the full list of all 24 Starfield powers below, each matched to the temple that grants it, along with the walkthrough that works on every planet the mission sends you to. There is also a section on what to do when your scanner shows undiscovered temples but Vlad has no coordinates for you, which is where most players get stuck.

One thing to keep in mind before you start: the power is bound to the temple’s name, not the planet. Temple Alpha always grants Personal Atmosphere, but the temple sitting on a given planet changes with every Starborn universe, so your Temple Chi will rarely be where mine was.

This is the complete list. The temple name always determines the power. The planet the temple sits on does not.

Power Temple What it does
Personal Atmosphere Alpha Generates breathable oxygen so you can survive without a sealed suit for a time.
Gravity Wave Beta Sends out a cone of gravitational force that staggers and knocks down enemies.
Create Vacuum Gamma Strips the air out of an area so enemies caught in it start suffocating.
Gravity Well Delta Drags everything nearby towards a single point.
Earthbound Epsilon Sets the local gravity to Earth normal.
Grav Dash Zeta Dash forward and buff the damage of your next attack.
Anti-Gravity Field Eta Lifts enemies off the ground so they cannot shoot back. Your first power.
Solar Flare Theta Blast of solar energy that burns whatever it hits.
Precognition Iota Shows you what someone is about to say or do.
Sunless Space Kappa Freezes nearby enemies with a burst of cold.
Eternal Harvest Lamda Instantly regrows every plant you have harvested in an area.
Creator’s Peace Nu Pacifies enemies so they stop fighting you.
Supernova Xi Detonates a large sphere of energy for heavy damage.
Void Form Omicron Turns you invisible for a short time.
Life Forced Pi Drains the life out of a target and gives it to you.
Moon Form Rho Hardens your body so incoming damage is heavily reduced.
Parallel Self Sigma Pulls a version of you from another universe in to fight alongside you.
Reactive Shield Tau Raises your resistances and reflects ranged attacks back.
Inner Demon Upsilon Turns a target’s own fear on them in the shape of a phantom.
Alien Reanimation Phi Brings a dead creature back to fight for you.
Sense Star Stuff Chi Detects the life force of anything living around you.
Elemental Pull Psi Blasts inorganic resources loose and pulls them to you.
Particle Beam Omega Fires a concentrated beam of cosmic energy.
Phased Time Buried Temple Slows everything around you down. Comes from Revelation, not Power From Beyond.

The temple name always decides the power, never the planet. Temple Alpha grants Personal Atmosphere in every universe, but the planet it sits on is re-rolled each time you pass through the Unity. Note that no power is tied to Temple Mu, so 23 lettered temples plus the Buried Temple make up the full 24.

Two things worth noting about that list. Phased Time is the odd one out: it does not come from a lettered temple at all, but from the Buried Temple during the main mission Revelation. And there is no power attached to Temple Mu, so 23 lettered temples plus the Buried Temple make up the full 24.

Power From Beyond is the repeatable Constellation mission that hands you temple coordinates. It works like this:

-> You bring an Artifact back to the Lodge.
-> Vladimir Sall, aboard The Eye in the Alpha Centauri system, picks up a large grav anomaly reading that matches it.
-> He gives you a planet, and the mission Power From Beyond appears in your log.
-> You fly there, find the temple, take the power, and go back to him for the next one.

The mission reactivates every time Vlad finds another anomaly, which is why you may see it in your quest log over and over with a different planet each time. It is the same mission, not a series of separate ones.

There does appear to be a cap on how many times Power From Beyond can fire in a single playthrough. Once Vlad runs dry, the remaining temples have to be found by exploring and scanning planets yourself.

These steps are identical on every planet the mission sends you to. Once you have done one, you have done all of them.

1 – Land at the Scanner Anomaly

Open your starmap and travel to the system Vlad gave you. On the planet, you will see a landing site marked Scanner Anomaly. Land there.

The screenshots in this section are from our run on Bessel III-B. The steps are identical wherever the mission sends you, so yours will look the same even though the planet does not.

Mission text:
“There is a large anomaly on a planet that matches the signature of one of the Artifacts. I need to find it.”

2 – Follow the Distortions on your Scanner

Open your hand scanner and turn slowly on the spot. Watch the circle in the middle of the scanner: when it starts to flicker and warp, you are facing the temple. Walk in that direction and keep checking.

› camzillasmom.com

Two things speed this up a lot:
-> A temple always registers as an undiscovered point of interest, so watch the scanner icons as well as the distortion.
-> Temples sit inside their own anti-gravity pocket. If you see rubble and chunks of stone hanging motionless in the air, you have found it, distortion or not.

Mission text:
“My scanner is picking up some distortions. I should keep my scanner up and follow the distortions to the source.”

3 – Enter the Temple

The entrance is a long stone corridor. The thin pillars in front of it lower as you approach.

4 – Solve the Light Puzzle

Inside is a set of large rings that start rotating when you get close. Small clusters of light drift around the room. Use your boost pack to fly into each cluster. Every one you touch speeds the rings up and spawns the next.

› camzillasmom.com

Catch them until the rings align into a single ring. The room is full of decorative twinkling, so look for the tight cluster shape rather than any bright point.

5 – Take the Power

Boost into the centre of the aligned ring. You receive the power that matches the temple’s name.

6 – Expect a Starborn on the Way Out

A Starborn Guardian carrying that temple’s name spawns and attacks you after you claim the power.

Two exceptions: Temple Eta and the Buried Temple. Those two never spawn a Guardian, which is why your first temple feels so peaceful and every one after it does not.

Killing the Guardian drops Quantum Essence, a consumable that briefly speeds up your power regeneration.

Temple Eta is the one temple that is not randomised on a first playthrough. It is always on Procyon III, and you reach it during the main mission Into the Unknown with one of the Constellation members along.

It grants Anti-Gravity Field, so that is always the first power in the game, no matter how you play. If you are searching for Temple Eta specifically, this is why: it is the one everybody hits at the same point in the story.

The Buried Temple is the second fixed one. It is on Masada III, and you get there through the main mission Revelation rather than through Power From Beyond.

It grants Phased Time. Revelation also hands out more than one power, so do not be surprised if your power list jumps by more than a single entry there.

Below are the planets our own Power From Beyond missions sent us to, with the screenshots from each. Remember that these are the planets we were given. Yours will differ, and the temple name on each will differ too. They are here because the surface route and the landing site are the same every time a given planet comes up.

This is the most common way the power hunt stalls, and it is almost never a bug.

Vlad can only find an anomaly that matches an Artifact you already have. No new Artifact means no new temple. If he has nothing for you:

-> Go and progress the main Constellation questline until you pick up another Artifact.
-> Check whether you are missing an Artifact that only drops from the Hunter or the Emissary. Those two do not appear on any scanner.
-> Bring the Artifact back to the Lodge before you talk to him. The reading only appears once it is there.
-> If he still has nothing after that, he may have hit the per-playthrough cap on Power From Beyond. From that point the remaining temples have to be found manually.

Finding them manually means flying to a system, landing on planets and moons, and sweeping with your hand scanner. Temples show as undiscovered points of interest, so any unexplored marker is worth a look.

If your first playthrough sits permanently at three undiscovered temples no matter how many you clear, you are not missing anything. That counter is a known bug on a first run, and it reports three regardless of how much you have actually completed.

Do not burn hours sweeping planets over it. Check your powers list instead: if you have all 24 powers, you have found every temple you needed, whatever the counter says.

A few things go wrong with this mission more often than the rest, and most have the same fix.

No Scanner Anomaly landing site on the planet.
Make sure you are at the right planet and not a neighbouring body in the same system. The mission marker points at the planet, not the site.

No distortion anywhere on the scanner.
Walk a few hundred metres from the landing site and try again. The distortion has a range, and landing occasionally puts you outside it.

No quest marker at all.
Talk to Vlad again on The Eye. The mission sometimes needs reactivating on his end.

Cannot set course.
Check your grav drive range and fuel. Several of the planets this mission uses sit a long way out from Alpha Centauri.

Rings will not align.
The clusters get faster the closer you get. Approach at a slight angle with the boost pack rather than head on, and do not stop moving between catches.

Every power can be upgraded ten times, and the only way to do it is to visit that temple again in a new universe.

-> Powers and skills carry over through the Unity, so nothing is lost.
-> Temple locations are re-randomised every run, so a power you already have will turn up somewhere new.
-> Once a power is maxed, you are more likely to be pointed at temples you still need.
-> If you skip the main questline in New Game Plus, the mission Among the Stars has you talk to Vladimir, who hands over an opening batch of locations and reopens Power From Beyond.

Maxing everything means roughly 240 temple runs, and the Power From Beyond cap per playthrough means you cannot do it through Vlad alone. Manual scanning is part of the deal.

How many powers are there in Starfield?
There are 24, each tied to a temple. 23 come from lettered temples and one, Phased Time, comes from the Buried Temple.

Is the temple always in the same place?
No. Only Temple Eta on Procyon III and the Buried Temple on Masada III are fixed on a first playthrough. Everything else is randomised per universe. The temple name and its power never change, only where the temple sits.

Which power do I get from Power From Beyond?
Whichever one matches the temple you find. Check the temple name against the table above.

Are the temples guarded?
Not on the way in. A Starborn Guardian spawns after you take the power, except at Temple Eta and the Buried Temple.

Can I get every power in one playthrough?
Yes, all 24 are obtainable in a single run. Upgrading them beyond level one is what requires New Game Plus.

Why does it say I have undiscovered temples when I have every power?
A known first-playthrough bug in the counter. Trust your powers list, not the counter.
