Short Sighted Starfield – Constellation Mission Walkthrough

Tags:

Short Sighted is the ninth Constellation main mission and it starts as soon as you finish Further Into the Unknown, when Vladimir asks you to help with repairs on the Eye. Travel to the Eye in orbit of Jemison in the Alpha Centauri system and dock. Once aboard, Sam, Andreja, Barrett and Sarah each need a hand with a small repair job. You do not have to help all four, so if you want to see every task, save the one for the companion you are closest to until last.

Questline: Constellation, main mission 9
Starts after: Further Into the Unknown, automatically when Vladimir speaks to you
Location: the Eye, in orbit of Jemison in the Alpha Centauri system
Objectives: check in on everyone aboard the Eye, help with the repairs, then talk to Vladimir
Rewards: roughly 4,000 credits and 700 XP
Unlocks next: No Sudden Moves

Mission Text:
“I should check in with everyone to see how the repairs to the Eye are coming along and if I can help.”

Dock at the Eye and board it. For once Vladimir is not alone up here. Talk to him first, then walk the station: four quest markers appear, one for each companion. You do not have to help all four. The mission moves to its final objective as soon as you finish the task for the companion you are closest to, so if you want to see every repair, leave that one until last.

Sam Coe is in the hallway, trying to patch a damaged metal panel. The welder is lying on the floor next to him. Pick it up and the welding happens automatically.

Andreja is in the canteen with the station scanning equipment spread out in front of her. The parts are on the other table, to the right of Vladimir. Interact with the boxes and the parts assemble themselves.

Barrett is sitting in the main control room and wants the software update checked. The computer is on the wall to his right. Access it and choose Test Connection.

Sarah is also in the control room, working on a breaker box. You do not need to talk to her first, the objective triggers when you get close. The wrenches are on the right-hand side of the room.

Mission Text:
“Something’s gone wrong with the repairs we’re making to the Eye. I should check in with Vladimir.”

Once the repair you were working on goes wrong, head back to Vladimir in the control room. He explains that the Eye is in worse shape than expected and that the right parts will have to be ordered before the work can continue. That ends the mission and hands you roughly 4,000 credits and 700 XP. No Sudden Moves starts immediately, though you are free to leave the Eye and come back to Vladimir whenever you are ready.

Your crew leaves your ship.
Any Constellation companion assigned to your ship abandons their post and heads to the Eye when this mission starts, which can leave you with an empty crew slot. You can still complete their task without them standing there, and they can be reassigned once the mission is over.

Sarah is nowhere on the station.
This one comes up a lot. You do not have to find her: the mission only needs the repair belonging to the companion you are closest to, so finish one of the other three and it will move on. If the objective still refuses to tick over, reload the save from the moment you first docked.

The mission ends before you finish all four
. That is not a bug. Whichever companion you have the highest affinity with is the one whose repair advances the mission, so do the other three first if you want to see everything.
