Outcast A New Beginning: Research that Sting! Walkthrough

1 – Harvest Larvae

Location: Ascior hives around Prokriana

Follow the blue mission marker to one of the Ascior hives around Prokriana. The Ascior bugs sting, so walk through one of the pinkish-purple bushes first. It paints you in bright colors that protect you from the Asciors.

The rain washes the colors off, so you need to repeat this a lot while you climb around the hive. Luckily, there are plenty of bushes nearby.

Jump up to the hive platforms and collect the larvae from the small nests. You need at least 5, but collect as many as you can, since you have to come back later to reach the maximum of 10.

Back at the university, add the larvae to the stockpile. It is the big round nest at the back.

2 – Lure an Ascior Queen to the University

Location: Top of the Ascior hive

You can do this together with the larvae. The larvae are around the hive, while the Ascior Queen sits on top of it.

Climb to the top of the hive and interact with the Ascior Jelly inside the Ascior Queen’s nest. This starts a 2:30 timer, and that is how long you have to reach the university with the queen.

If you glide too long, jump or fall too far, you lose the queen and have to start again. Keep walking through the pinkish-purple bushes on the way back so you are always coated in color.

When you reach the university, a cutscene plays and the queen is added to a hive inside the university automatically. There is no need to deliver her.

3 – Talk to Nhurkan about the Ascior Beacon Plan

Location: Nhurkan’s shop next to the Prokriana Daoka

Nhurkan has his shop in a building right next to the Daoka fast-travel gate. Talk to him until you get the option Open the shop. Among other potions, you can now craft the Ascior Beacon.

For the Ascior Beacon you need:
1 Zeedog Sap from the Zeedogs at Emea Swamp (see No Omelet, Please)
25 Red Helidium, which you find all over the world
1 Ascior Queen Pheromone

The Ascior Queens at the university produce the pheromone. Pick it up from the shelf close to the queen’s nest. The more queens you bring, the faster the pheromone builds up, so catch all 3 Ascior Queens.

4 – Find the Beacon Launcher in the Museum

Location: Museum above Rhifar’s room in the university

This step is a separate quest, but you need the Beacon Launcher to use a crafted Ascior Beacon. Rhifar tells you there is one in a museum. Select the quest in the center of the Prokriana Village Quest menu.

The museum is above Rhifar’s room, where you dropped off the larvae and the queens. Stand in front of the university staircase and head to the right side of the building. Look up and you see a stone bridge that leads to the museum entrance.

The Beacon Launcher is on display. Pick it up to complete the quest.
