In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the Crossroads features a total of 10 Chests, 6 Timelost Hoards, 4 Evanuris Altars, and 5 Fen’Harel Althars that must be collected to achieve 100% completion. This guide will also pinpoint the locations of all small chests and Codex items, ensuring you gather every collectible at the Crossroads for a truly complete experience.

The Crossroads operate somewhat differently from other locations. Here, you’ll encounter numerous blight-closed gates that require an “Essence of a Champion” to unlock. To begin, I’ll guide you through the process of opening these blocked gates.

1. Locked Essence Gates

1.1. Gate of Deep Sorrows

The Gate of Deep Sorrows is located in the Converged City, just northeast of the courtyard.

To access it, begin by picking up the “Gate of Deep Sorrow” Regions Quest at the gate. This quest will guide you to the Treviso Canals and Crows Rooftops. Defeat the champion there, and then return with the Essence to the gate.

1.2. Gate of Faded Glories

The Faded Glories Essence Gate is located in the northwest corner of Elvhenan’s Haven Spirit Dock.

To access it, begin the “Gate of Faded Glories” quest at this entrance, which will guide you to Arlathan Forest. Defeat the Champion at Tainted Woods, as illustrated in the screenshot below, and return with the Essence.

1.3. Gate of the Lost Ages

The Gate of the Lost Ages is located in the northwest section of the Converged City.

To access it, begin by picking up the “Gate of the Lost Ages” quest at this gate, which will guide you to Dock Town. Travel north to Andraste’s Watch and locate the Fen’Harel Altar. Activate the altar and follow the wooden platform down until you reach the bottom. There, you will encounter the Blight Cyst that initiates the Champion fight. Defeat the Champion to receive the Essence needed to open the Gate of Lost Ages.

1.4. Gate of the Parched Hopes

The Gate of Parched Hopes is situated in Elvhenan’s Haven, nestled just north of the Spirit Dock.

To access it, begin by picking up the “Gate of the Parched Hope” quest at this gate. This quest will direct you to the Hossberg Wetlands. Near the Eluvian, at the Old Crossroads, you will encounter the Blight Cyst, which triggers the battle with the Champion. Defeat the Champion and return the essence to the gate.

1.5. Gate of Pale Reflections

The Gate of Pale Reflections is situated at the Heights of Athim.

To begin, pick up the “Gate of Pale Reflections” quest at the gate. This quest will guide you to the Hossberg Wetlands. Head south to Solitude’s Edge, where you’ll discover the Blight Cyst that triggers the battle with the champion. After defeating the champion, you can loot not only the essence but also a Timelost Hoard Chest.

1.6. Thrice-Sealed Gate

To access this gate, you will need three Revenant Essences, which can be collected from the following locations:

Converged City – Gate of Deep Sorrows

To unlock the gate, complete the Regional Quest “Gate of Deep Sorrows” and collect the Champion’s Essence in Treviso. Once you pass through the gate, you’ll reach the far end of the area, where you can discover the Timelost Hoard alongside the Revenant: Betrayal of Felassam. Defeating this adversary will reward you with one of the three Revenant Essences required for the “Heart of Corruption” quest.

Elvhenan’s Haven – Gate of the Parched Hopes

Embark on the Regional Quest “Gate of the Parched Hopes” and collect the Champion’s Essence from Hossberg Wetlands to unlock the gate. Once you reach the end of the area, you’ll face another Revenant at their throne, the Slaughter of the Pillars. Defeating this foe will yield one of the Revenant Essences needed for the “Heart of Corruption” quest.

Heights of Athim – Gate of Pale Reflections

To the east of the Heights of Athim lies another gate that demands an essence for entry. You must retrieve this essence from the Hossberg Wetlands, located at Solitude’s Edge. Once you have obtained it, enter the gate and defeat the Revenant to earn one of three Revenant Essences.

2. Chests

To achieve a full 100% completion, you’ll need to locate and open 10 collectible chests scattered throughout the Crossroads. Below is a guide to help you find their exact locations. These chests can exclusively be found in Converged City and Elvhenan’s Haven.

2.1. Converged City

Before proceeding to the “Converging Eluvians,” take the passage to the southeast, where you previously triumphed over the local champion to gather its essence. At the Beacon, turn left, and you will find the chest awaiting you.

2.2. Converged City – Gate of Deep Sorrows

Located behind the Gate of Deep Sorrows, near the Fast Travel Beacon, there is a collectible chest situated within the corridor.

2.3. Converged City – Gate of the Lost Ages

Open the “Gate of the Lost Ages” as indicated above for the Lost Essence Gates, then ascend the stairs. Destroy the red crystals you encounter. Next, harness Lucanis’ power to create a purple platform, allowing you to access the collectible chest on the opposite side.

2.4. Converged City – Gate of the Lost Ages 2

In the same vicinity as the previous chest, you can once again harness Lucanis’ power to access another chest.

2.5. Converged City – Gate of the Lost Ages 3

Head to the back where you can shoot the lock off a ladder to access the other side. Eliminate the Venatory in this area and shoot the crystal at the southern gate to open it, revealing the energy crystal inside. Destroy that crystal, then shoot the remaining crystals to uncover a ladder behind the last energy barrier. Climb up, defeat the Venatory, and check behind the gate to discover the final chest along with one of the wolf statuettes needed for the “Regrets of the Dread Wolf” Region Quest.

2.6. Elvhenan’s Haven – Faded Glories

In the area behind the Gate of Faded Glories, you must repair the bridges by rotating the statues to face them. Once you’ve completed this task, you can access the northern region of Elvhenan’s Haven, where the collectible chest awaits.

2.7. Elvhenan’s Haven – Broken Bridge to Temple

In the northern part of Elvhenan’s Haven, you will find a large broken bridge surrounded by three movable statues. To restore the bridge and gain access to the temple, adjust the statues so that they face the stationary statues at the base of the bridge.

Enter the temple and proceed to the first balcony on the right to retrieve the collectible chest.

2.8. Elvhenan’s Haven – Temple

Navigate through the temple and exit at the rear to re-enter on Level 1, where you’ll find this chest concealed behind a pillar.

2.9. Elvhenan’s Haven – West

Exit the Temple and proceed westward, where you will discover a readily accessible collectible chest.

2.10. Elvhenan’s Haven – West Uphill

Head left from the previous chest and follow the path uphill to discover the last collectible chest.

3. Timelost Hoards

At the Crossroads, you can find six Timelost Hoards Chests. Here’s how to obtain them.

3.1. Converged City – Gate of Deep Sorrows

Complete the Regional Quest “Gate of Deep Sorrows” and obtain the Champion’s Essence at Treviso to unlock the gate. At the far end of the area beyond the gate lies the Timelost Hoard, guarded by the Revenant: Betrayal of Felassam. Defeating this foe will yield one of three Revenant Essences needed for the “Heart of Corruption” quest.

3.2. Elvhenan’s Haven – Gate of the Parched Hopes

Proceed through the Gate of the Parched Hopes at the end of this area, where you will face another Revenant seated on their throne: Slaughter of the Pillars. Defeating this adversary will reward you with one of the three Revenant Essences required for the “Heart of Corruption” quest. Additionally, don’t forget to unlock the Timelost Hoards chest as you make your exit!

3.3. Heights of Athim – 50 Darkspawn

In the southeast region of the Heights of Athim, you’ll find a towering Blight Tree next to a Fen’Harel Altar. If you approach it closely, the tree will inform you of the number of Darkspawn you have defeated. To unlock the Timelost Hoard Chest, you need to eliminate 50 Darkspawn, which can be somewhat tedious. The most effective strategy is to save your progress and then reload, as this will replenish the Darkspawn for you.

Once you reach 50, the blight at the bottom will become destructible, allowing you to loot the Timelost Hoard Chest hidden within the tree.

3.4. Heights of Athim – Gate of Pale Reflections

Enter the Gate of Pale Reflections and defeat the Revenant to claim one of three Revenant Essences. At the back of the chamber, you will find the Timelost Hoard Chest.

3.5. Beacon Island – Blighted Dragon

Gather all three Revenant Essences and unlock the Thrice-Sealed Gate on Beacon Island. After defeating the Blighted Dragon, proceed to discover the Timelost Hoard Chest.

3.6. Nest of the Ancients

To complete the quest “Regrets of the Dread Wolf,” first, gather all five wolf statuettes. Continue playing until you can meet The Inquisitor and Morrigan at Dock Town. Once you’ve collected the statues, place them at the Lighthouse and then rendezvous with Morrigan at Beacon Island in the Crossroads. She will unlock the final passage at Beacon Island, which is currently obstructed by branches. This gate leads to the “Nest of the Ancients,” where your group will face Mythal. Regardless of whether you engage her in battle, jump into the pit and take the exit. At the end of this path, you will find the Timelost Hoards Chest.

4. Evanuris Altars

At the Crossroads, you’ll encounter four Evanuris Altars, each providing you with a bonus of +100 health. To benefit from these altars, locate the statue and activate it. Once activated, the statue will emit beams directing you to specific targets. Destroy all the targets to receive the health bonus.

4.1. Elvhenan’s Haven – Faded Glories

To repair the bridges behind the Gate of the Faded Glories, rotate the statues so they face each other, similar to the arrangement at the lighthouse. This will grant you access to the Evanuris Altar. The first target is located just to the right, behind a pillar, while the other three can be found to the left. All targets are shootable from the area below the Altar.

4.2. Elvhenan’s Haven – Temple

Repair the large bridge that leads to the northern temple. Position the statues so that they face the static figures at the base of the bridge. Once you enter the temple, exit through the back and proceed to the basement on the opposite side to locate the Evanuris Altar. All objectives can be found in the basement.

4.3. Converged City – Gate of the Lost Ages

Open the Gate of the Lost Ages located in the Converged City. Next, eliminate all the red crystals and defeat the Venatory that appear. This will unlock the gates in the vicinity. Behind one of these gates lies the Evanuris Altar. Activate the altar and shoot the four targets to complete the task.

4.4. Heights of Athim

From the Spirit Dock, proceed to the right side of the Heights of Athim. Near the Fen’Harel Altar, enter the house on your left and ascend the ladder. From there, cross the bridge to locate the Evanuris Altar. You can also lower a nearby ladder for quicker navigation. One target is inside the house below, while another can be found just behind the altar on the opposite side of the tower. The third target is to the right, and the fourth is in the house just beyond the character shown in the screenshot. To hit the target in the building, use the path that leads up to the northwest.

5. Fen’Harel Altars

At the Crossroads, you will find five Fen’Harel Altars. Each altar rewards you with a skill point when you locate the hidden wolf statuette. To achieve this, start by finding and activating the wolf statue. Then, follow the direction it faces to discover the statuette. You will receive the skill point immediately upon collecting the statue.

5.1. Converged City

Take the southeastern passage in the large courtyard of the Converged City and turn right, where you will encounter the area’s Champion. After harnessing its essence to unlock the gate to the Converging Eluvians, follow the uphill path to discover the Fen’Harel Wolf Altar.

Activate it, and it will point you to the northeast, where the treasure awaits. Follow that direction until you spot a ghostly wolf perched on a ledge. Jump up to collect the wolf statuette near the ghost’s location.

5.2 Converged City – Gate of the Lost Ages

Enter the Gate of the Lost Ages and eliminate all the red crystals and Venatory in the area. Proceed to the back, where you can shoot the lock off a ladder to access the other side. Defeat the remaining Venatory and target the crystal at the southern gate, which will unlock the gate and reveal the energy crystal. Destroy it, then shoot the crystal located in the snake’s mouth above, followed by the crystals at the other gate. This will open the gate and unveil the Fen’Harel Altar.

Activate the mechanism, and it will rotate slightly to the east. From that vantage point, you’ll spot the wolf ghost. To reach it, first destroy the final red crystal barrier and ascend the ladder located behind it. After defeating the Venatori, use Lucanis’ ability to construct a bridge that will lead you to both the ghost and the statuette.

5.3. Elvhenan’s Haven – Faded Glories

Venture through the Gate of Faded Glories to find the Fen’Harel Statue nestled in the northern section of Elvhenan’s Haven, beneath a crumbling bridge. Use the nearby ladder to descend and access this hidden gem.

Activate the altar, and it will rotate to face north, across the broken bridge. Although the bridge features a wooden beam, access can only be gained from the opposite side. To reach it, you’ll need to repair the bridges. Recall the statues at the lighthouse that revealed a hidden room? Here, you must adjust the statues to face one another in order to construct the bridges. Once completed, you’ll be able to cross to the other side.

Proceed to the opposite side, ascend the stairs, and search near the collectible chest hidden in the tall grass by the ledge.

5.4. Heights of Athim – Near Spirit Dock

In the southeast of the Height of Athim lies a quaint settlement featuring a griffon statue, alongside a Fen’Harel Altar.

Activate the mechanism, and it will orient toward the north. Raise your gaze to spot the ghost wolf’s hint. Search for the nearby zipline and use it to ascend and collect the statuette.

5.5. Heights of Athim – Blight Tree

The final Fen’Harel Altar is located at the highest point in the southeast corner of the map, just beyond the Evanuris Altar near a blighted tree.

Activate it, and it will turn west, back to where you started. Descend to the area where you can ascend to the zipline. The statuette is located next to the zipline.

6. Small Treasure Chests

Small Treasure Chests, while not linked to the 100% achievement, still yield valuable rewards. These chests can contain Gold, valuable items, materials, and occasionally gear. Below is a guide to their locations at the Crossroads.

6.1. Converged City – Western Beam

In the Courtyard of the Converging City, where various gates meet, search for a ladder leading upward to access the chest located near the western beam mechanism.

6.2. Converged City – Two Beams

Near the courtyard of the Converged City, you will find two beam mechanisms. Your task is to repair them and direct their beams towards the two crystals positioned above the gate leading to the “Converging Eluvians.” The gate is located to the left of the eastern beam’s position.

6.3. Converged City – “The Labs Below” 1

To begin the Quest “The Labs Below,” head through the eastern passage in the large courtyard of the Converged City until you spot a pulsing blue bubble indicating the starting point.

Descend to meet Tarasahl and initiate the quest. Proceed through the door, defeat the enemies, and enter the next room where you’ll encounter Tarasahl and Solas. Ascend the staircase to reach the testing grounds, which features a movable statue at its center. Adjust the statue to gain access to the room filled with destructible blight packs. Eliminate all the packs to uncover the chest at the center.

6.4. Converged City – “The Labs Below Quest” 2

Complete the quest to its conclusion to obtain a wolf statue. Once you collect it, a chest will appear, offering you the chance to loot its contents. Although the chest is marked on the map, it does not count as a collectible; instead, it serves as a quest reward.

6.5. Converged City – Converging Eluvians

Defeat the Champion located near the corrupted gate that leads to the Converging Eluvians, then take its Essence back to the gate to unlock it. You will now have access to the “Converging Eluvians.” The chest can be found near the Fast Travel Beacon.

6.6. Converged City – Champion Spawn Location

After conquering the Champion in Converged City, head back to the spawn location to discover a small chest waiting for you.

6.7. Converged City – Gate of Deep Sorrows

Pass through the Gate of Deep Sorrows and search for a small chest nestled at the foot of the staircase.

6.8. Converged City – Gate of Lost Ages

Eliminate all the red crystals located behind the Gate of the Lost Ages and defeat the Venatori. Next, head to the back and shoot the lock off the ladder to access the other side. Take down any remaining Venatori, and then locate the chest at the top of the stairs.

6.9. Elvhenan’s Haven – Spirit Dock

Located just beyond the Spirit Dock, this chest can be discovered in a quaint little park.

6.10. Elvhenan’s Haven – Wolf Statue

This chest is located in the northwest corner of the Spirit Docks. Keep an eye out for the Wolf statue as your guide.

6.11. Elvhenan’s Haven – Temple Basement

Venture through the Gate of Faded Glories. In the temple’s basement, beneath the broken bridge to the north and adjacent to an Evanuris Altar, lies another treasure chest waiting to be discovered.

6.12. Elvhenan’s Haven – The Wolf’s Call

Embark on the quest “The Wolf’s Call,” which begins in the western region of Elvhenan’s Haven.

At the conclusion of the quest, you can collect the chest as you exit to the right. Although this chest is marked on the map, it does not qualify as a collectible; rather, it serves as a quest reward.

6.13. Elvhenan’s Haven Eluvians

At Elvhenan’s Haven, near the Eluvians, you’ll discover an open chest waiting to be found.

6.14. Elvhenan’s Haven – Gate of the Parched Hopes

From the Fast Travel Beacon located across the Gate of the Parched Hopes, make your way up to the stone bridge, where you’ll find this chest waiting for you.

6.15. Heights of Athim – “Disrupt and Conquer” Quest

At the beginning of the northern path, where the quest “Disrupt and Conquer” commences, you will find a chest.

6.16. Heights of Athim – “Disrupt and Conquer” Quest 2

After completing the initial sequence with the “Spirits of Destruction,” proceed through the newly opened gate. Turn around to look back, and you will spot a chest waiting for you.

6.17. Heights of Athim – Near Evanuris Altar

Return to the Fen’Harel Altar located to the east of the Spirit Dock. From there, enter the left house, ascend the ladder, and cross the bridge to the right to access an Evanuris Altar. Behind the Altar, at the base of a grand golden statue, you will find a small chest.

6.18. Heights of Athim – At the Blight Tree

Ascend to the highest point in the southeast, where the Blight Tree and a Fen’Harel Altar are located. Among the urns, you will discover a small chest nestled within.

6.19. Mountainside Eluvians

A chest can be found near the Fast Travel Beacon at the Mountainside Eluvians.

7. Codex Library

Certain Codex entries are obtained by completing quests or can be found during the quest itself. I concentrate on the Codex Library Scrolls and items that can be collected throughout the world.

7.1. Converged City – “The Labs Below”

Mementos: The Mother of Halla

Make your way to the Converged City, where the Converging Eluvians reside in the south. Locate the eastern passage in the large courtyard of the Converged City to discover the beginning of the quest “The Labs Below,” marked by a pulsing blue bubble.

Descend to meet Tarasahl and begin the quest. Proceed through the door, eliminate the hostiles, and enter the next room where you’ll find Tarasahl and Solas atop a newly formed staircase. Instead of climbing the stairs, take the path to the left, which will lead you to the Mementos: The Mother of Halla, resting on the floor.

7.2. Converged City – Eastern Beam

Miscellaneous: On Mapping the Unmappable

Enter the southeastern passage in the large courtyard at the Converged City and take a right. There, you will encounter the Champion of the area. After harnessing its essence to unlock the gate to the Converging Eluvians, proceed along the uphill path. 7.3. Converged City – 2 Merchants

In the courtyard of the Converged City, as spirits reemerge and enliven the area into a vibrant marketplace, look for the two spirit merchants offering unique mementos for 3 Etheric Remnants each. Each merchant possesses one distinct memento for you to acquire.

7.4. Converged City – Gate of Deep Sorrows

Mementos: The Unspoken

After leaving the cemetery, you’ll enter an area where an Undead is constantly summoning undead fighters behind a closed gate. Collect the wisp in the adjacent room and use it on the gate. Once you’ve defeated the Undead, you can find the memento where the main undead mage was located.

7.5. Converged City – Gate of Lost Ages

Miscellaneous: The Trials of the Gods

Eliminate all the red crystals located behind the Gate of the Lost Ages and vanquish the Venatori. Next, head to the rear and shoot the lock off the ladder to access the other side. Take down any remaining Venatori, then locate the scroll on the ground.

7.6. Converged City – Gate of Lost Ages 2

Mementos: The Way of Peace

In the same vicinity, aim the red crystal at the gate located beneath the southern entrance to destroy it. Once the gate is destroyed, it will lower, revealing the power crystal behind it. Eliminate the power crystal, then ascend to retrieve the memento positioned behind the gate.

7.7. Elvhenan’s Haven Eluvians

At Elvhenan’s Haven, you’ll find a large area featuring a broken bridge that leads to a temple above. To repair the bridge, rotate the statues at the base of the staircase until they become static. Once the bridge is fixed, enter the temple, where you will discover a scroll beside the altar.

7.9. Heights of Athim – Top of Zipline

From the Spirit Dock at the Heights of Athim, ascend to the zipline and proceed to Level 2, where you can collect this scroll from the ground.

Enter the “Gate of Pale Reflections” located to the east of the Heights of Athim. Defeat the Revenant Champion and collect the memento near the Timelost Hoard Chest.

To unlock the “Thrice Sealed Gate” on Beacon Island, you must defeat the three Revenant Champions at the Crossroads. After entering, you’ll discover this memento in the corridor ahead.
