The Veteran is the hidden Expert Quest in Star Wars Outlaws that unlocks MT-7 and his Decryption Module. You start it through the Encrypted Messages intel, then search Akiva for MT-7’s lost unit and destroy 5 jammers at Trapper’s Field in orbit. The map below shows every jammer, the trickiest part of the quest.

1 – Find Your First Transmission
Expert Intel: Encrypted Messages
Location: Any orbit, for example Pilot’s End – Kijimi Orbit
The Veteran doesn’t show up as an Expert until you start the Encrypted Messages intel. To get it, pick up a Transmission in space. Transmissions sit inside round, yellow cargo containers, so scan your surroundings for “Floating Cargo”.
One easy Transmission is at the center of Pilot’s End in Kijimi Orbit, where you also go during the Expert Quest The Mercenary. Look for the yellow cargo box floating in space. Pilot’s End and the rest of the orbit are covered in the Kijimi Orbit treasures guide.
Pilot’s End – Kijimi Orbit
2 – Collect 5 Transmissions and Find MT-7
Expert Intel: Encrypted Messages
Location: Toshara, Kijimi, Akiva and Tatooine orbits
After the first Transmission, your Journal tells you to find more. You need 5 in total so ND-5 can triangulate the signal. There are 16 Transmissions spread across all four orbits, usually one or two in each named treasure area. The Transmissions guide lists all of them.
Toshara Orbit alone has six, all marked in the Toshara Orbit treasures guide.
After the fifth Transmission, ND-5 contacts you and locates the signal at an abandoned landing pad on Akiva. Fly to Akiva and choose “Abandoned Hideout” as your landing pad. When you leave the Trailblazer, a cutscene plays. It ends the Encrypted Messages intel and starts The Veteran.
3 – Search for MT-7’s Unit
Expert Quest: The Veteran
Location: Akiva
MT-7 is a Separatist droid who has been stuck at the Abandoned Hideout for decades and still wants to finish his final mission. Kay has to find the three members of his unit: Unit 647, Unit 437 and Unit 416.
Unit 647 – Abandoned Hideout
Take the ladder down into the lower, broken cargo area. Near the ladder is an opening in the wall you can climb into. Start at the rippled wall at the far end of the cargo area and climb across to the opening.
The small, dark room behind it has a closed door with a power core above it. The door needs three power cores. The other two are outside, so shoot all three with the Ion blaster as quickly as you can.
The door opens. Inside, a droid holds a datapad. Read it to move the quest forward.
Unit 437 – Southern Separatist Position
The report from Unit 647 points south of the Abandoned Hideout to the Southern Separatist Position in Myrra Valley. The cave there is full of poison-spitting frogs, so defeat them before you go in.
Inside the cave, climb the rippled wall to the top floor. The next member of MT-7’s unit is next to some old computer equipment. Read the droid’s datapad to continue.
Unit 416 – Separatist Base West of Sashin
The report from Unit 437 leads to a former Separatist base west of Sashin. At the quest marker, a cave with a steep climb waits for you.
At the top of the climb, look up for a log you can swing over to reach a rippled wall on the other side. Climb up to the opening, where Unit 416 is waiting.
Unit 416’s report shows the unit tried to reach a CIS satellite but failed. The satellite is in Akiva Orbit at Trapper’s Field.
4 – Destroy the 5 Jammers at Trapper’s Field
Expert Quest: The Veteran
Location: Trapper’s Field – Akiva Orbit
Board the Trailblazer and fly to Trapper’s Field in Akiva Orbit. Five jammers block the satellite’s signal, and they are spread across the whole debris field, so they are easy to miss.
Pirates attack while you are there. Clear them out before you keep searching.
The map shows all 5 jammer locations. Trapper’s Field also holds Transmissions, which are covered in the Akiva Orbit treasures guide.
The Quest Jammer
This is the first jammer you reach at Trapper’s Field, and the only one with a quest marker. Like all of them, it looks like a glowing column with spikes at both ends.
Below the Satellite Dish
Look for the corridor below the satellite dish. The jammer is inside it.
Next to the Satellite Dish
The third jammer is right next to the satellite dish.
South of the Satellite Dish
Head south to a flat piece of debris to find the fourth jammer.
Inside the Eastern Wreck
The last jammer is the hardest to find. It is inside the eastern wreck; enter at the center of the wreck.
5 – Return to MT-7
Expert Quest: The Veteran
Location: Abandoned Hideout – Akiva
With all 5 jammers gone, land on Akiva and return to the Abandoned Hideout. MT-7’s mission is complete and he no longer needs his Decryption Module.
MT-7 now appears as an Expert in the Abilities menu. His first ability, the Decryption Module, lets you decrypt the Transmissions you find in space.
6 – Disruptor Gear and the Old School Cool Trophy
With the Decryption Module, the Transmissions you collect are no longer just encrypted chatter. Find all 16 across the Toshara, Kijimi, Akiva and Tatooine orbits to unlock a bunker with the Disruptor gear set and the Old School Cool trophy. The Transmissions guide shows where every one of them is.
You can still find every Transmission in free roam after the story. The Veteran has to be done first, or the bunker stays locked.
