Starfield Red Tape Reclamation – Kill Hank or Turn Him In

Red Tape Reclamation Mission Overview

Mission type: Miscellaneous Mission, third and final part of the Red Tape questline in Cydonia
Quest giver: Trevor Petyarre, in the mining pit at the bottom of Cydonia
Location: Cydonia and the Martian surface just outside it, Mars, Sol system
Prerequisite: Complete Red Tape Runaround
Rewards: 100 XP, credits that scale with your level, the Deimos spacesuit, helmet, pack and cap, plus 50 Iron
Can you take Hank’s ship: No, his ship the Watchdog cannot be entered
Quest chain: Red Tape Blues, then Red Tape Runaround, then Red Tape Reclamation

Save before you talk to Hank at his ship. He pulls a gun on you, and the persuasion check is hard without ranks in the Persuasion skill.

Lying for Hank keeps him out of jail, but lawful companions like Sarah Morgan dislike it. Leave them on your ship if you want that ending.

1 – Speak with Trevor

Mission Text:
“I’ve approved Trevor’s request for new mining equipment. I should go speak with him about it and let him know.”

Go back to the ground level of Cydonia to talk to Trevor.

2 – Speak with Ship Services

Mission Text:
“Trevor is worried that Hank hasn’t returned with the equipment yet, so he wants me to check with ship services to see if they noticed anything unusual.”

Ship Services are outside of Cydonia. Talk to the technician there. Ask them about Hank Ferraro.The technician only knows him as Henry Ferraro.

3 – Speak with Trevor

Mission Text:
“Ship services mentioned that they saw Hank return to Mars, but he didn’t land at the port. This is unusual, so I should check with Trevor to see what I should do next.”

Go back to talk to Trevor about your findings.

4 – Find Hank Ferraro

Mission Text:
“Hank has not returned, and now Trevor seems suspicious of what Hank could be up to. He wants me to investigate, and suggested that I start by seeing if Hank is at the Broken Spear.”

The Broken Spear is the bar at the top level near the entrance of Cydonia. You can talk to him at the bar. He will tell you to follow him.

5 – Follow Hank

Mission Text:
“Hank admitted to stealing the new equipment because he wanted to sabotage the entire mining operation. But, it sounds like he’s going to give it up willingly. I should follow him to where he’s stashed it.”

Hank is walking a long way. Just follow him, even though it could be a bit boring.

He stops in front of his ship, the Watchdog, outside Cydonia. When you talk to him, he pulls a gun on you. You have three ways to end this:

Kill Hank: Attack him, or fail the persuasion check. He is a weak level one enemy. Continue with Mission Point 7.
Turn Hank in: Pass the persuasion check, ask for his gun, then tell him to turn himself in. Continue with Mission Point 6.
Lie for Hank: Pass the persuasion check and agree to tell Trevor that pirates followed Hank to Mars and he fought them off. Continue with Mission Point 7.

You cannot enter the Watchdog, whichever way you end it.

6 – Turn Hank in to Security

Mission Text:
“Hank has agreed to turn himself in. I’ll escort him to Security to make sure he follows through.”

When you succeed with persuasion, Hank will follow you to Cydonia Security. It’s just by Cydonia entrance to the left. Talk to Booth, chief of security.

7 – Speak with Trevor

Mission Text:
“I need to return to Trevor and let him know what happened with Hank and the equipment.”

Go back to talk to Trevor about your findings. This will conclude the mission.

Trevor reacts differently depending on what happened to Hank, and he is not happy if Hank died. You get 100 XP, credits, the Deimos spacesuit set and 50 Iron. He also mentions Rivkah, which starts the next Cydonia quest, Runaway.
