Key Part Intel: Codebreaker Chip – Star Wars Outlaws 2024

Here’s a complete walkthrough on how to obtain the Codebreaker Chip for the Advanced Slicing upgrade. Join me in this guide as I’m heading to the Shipjacker Workshop to retrieve it.

1. How to get inside the Shipjacker Workshop?

After meeting Aila Bren in the “Expert Intel: The Slicer” Quest, you will receive the Key Part Intel: Codebreaker Chip. This chip is essential for progressing further in your mission, as it helps unlock critical pathways restricted by advanced security systems. During your journey, you’ll uncover more about its origin, tied to the infamous intel crashed speeder Star Wars incident that left a trail of mysteries behind. Keep an eye out for hidden clues and encounters that will test your resourcefulness as you forge ahead.

Quest Objective

“Shipjackers raided a downed merchant ship and took a valuable code breaker chip to their hideout in the Lost Steppe.”

The Shipjacker Workshop is located at the eastern end of “The Lost Steppe,” near the border of “Southern Falls.” While there is a main entrance, it’s better to use the back entrance. Approach the Workshop from the western side of the mountain.

Just by the road, there are a couple of ledges you can climb to reach an overhead grappling point.

From that point, climb up some shallower ledges to reach the top. You can then squeeze through a gap in the mountain to get inside. Keep an eye out for the grey lamp poles, as they usually guide the way.

The Shipjacker Workshop lives up to its name. At its center stands a large, elevated round building with roof access. One room, located high up and seemingly inaccessible, is secured by a red energy barrier. At the far end, behind the round building, there’s a recreational area.

2. Where is the Codebreaker Chip?

The Codebreaker Chip is located in the recreational area at the back of the workshop.

How you deal with the hostiles is entirely your choice. I’ll explain how to obtain the Codebreaker Chip and the other treasure in the Shipjacker Workshop. Personally, I prefer to eliminate all the hostiles first before focusing on the main objective.

Let’s go through all the other Treasure Boxes while we’re here.

Treasure 1: Top Floor Energy Barrier

Climb the ladder to the roof of the large, round structure. Use Nix to scan the area. Look for a power cable that connects to a switch on the roof. Activate that switch, and a cargo box will move from the Energy Barrier to your location.

The cargo box has yellow borders for Kay to hold onto. Instruct Nix to hit the same switch again, then jump onto the box to reach the Energy Barrier.

Next to the Energy Barrier, there’s a closed shutter containing a power core that operates it. Instruct Nix to hold the shutter open so Kay can shoot the power core and destroy it. This will lower the Energy Barrier, allowing Kay to access the Treasure Box inside, which contains the Codebreaker Chip.

Treasure 2: Recreational Area

Now head to the recreational area on the top floor. You can reach it through a ramp on the round building’s roof or climbing up a ladder. Just open the door and you will see this Treasure straight away.

Treasure 3: Codebreaker Chip

In this recreational area is also an Energy Barrier that protects a storage room. Slice the panel next to the Energy Barrier to lower it. The Codebreaker Chip is inside the box.

But wait… there is another Treasure Chest somewhere?

Yes. For the last Treasure Chest you will need the “Bolt” upgrade on the Blaster. If you don’t have it, follow the Main Quest Line until you are given one.

Treasure 4: Destructible Wall

Exit the recreational area and look for a destructible wall on this level. Shoot it with “Bolt” to open this passage. Inside this hidden room is the last treasure of the Shipjacker Workshop.
