Crimson Desert: Kathan, the Goldleaf Private Soldier Quest Walkthrough

Starting the Quest

This quest is the fourth of seven for the Goldleaf Merchant Guild -> Extinguishing the Last Flames.

After talking to Shakatu at the Goldleaf Guildhouse for the Troubled Shakatu quest, he will send you to interrogate five guild members. Kathan is the third on the list.

Quest Description:
“Find evidence that confirms the activities of Kathan, the Goldleaf private soldier.”

Talk to Kathan

Kathan has his tent just outside the Goldleaf Guildhouse, to the west. He will tell you that Grimzle’s ledger got stolen, but no one saw it happen.

Examine the Damaged Wagon

The Damaged Wagon is at the muddy pond to the west, not far from Kathan’s tent. Examine the Wagon’s wheel.

Examine the Guard’s Letter

The Guard’s Letter is between the Damaged Wagon and Kathan’s camp. It’s inside the camp, near the anvil. Pick it up and read it.

The Guard’s Letter reads:
“My dearest love and children,
I’ve been standing guard by the supplies from dawn until dusk, and the days feel endless. Surrounded by strangers, I ache to see your faces. The merchant guild’s provisions are tough and salty, but at least I’m not starving. Every now and then I pick up some fruit in the market, but it’s never the same as the ones we shared back home. I miss your cooking as well.
Please take care of yourself and the children. Soon we’ll gather around the table, share a proper meal, and laugh together. Just wait for me a little longer.”

Examine the Guard’s Report

The last thing to examine in the list is the Guard’s report. Go south to find it on top of a box in the storage area.

Open it in your inventory and read it. It’s a purple document. Reading this document will complete the investigation into Kathan, the Goldleaf Private Soldier.

The Guard’s Report reads:
“Location: Grimzle’s Residence
Patrolled the perimeter of the residence.
No unauthorized entry detected during duty hours.
No entry records or suspicious activity found.
– Goldleaf Merchant Guild Soldier”
