Chapter 3: Pioneering Overview

This is the fourth quest of six in the “Pioneering” questline in Chapter 3.

1 – Hope After the Draught
2 – Scattered Comrades
3 – Rumors from the Sawmill

5 – Bustling Hill
6 – Greymanes Reunited

Completing these six quests will lead to the start of Chapter 4.

Starting the Quest

After having found Luke and Ronald at the Sawmill in Rumors from the Sawmill, the questline continues at Howling Hill.

Quest Description:
“The sawmill rumors proved true. With the Greymanes’ reunion successfully concluded, return to Howling Hill to prepare for the next phase of the plan.”

Return to Howling Hill

The quest continues as soon as you enter the Howling Hill area.

Examine the Dragon Totem at the Shrine

You may have noticed already that there is a shrine on the Howling Hill grounds. Investigate the Dragon Head Statue there. It’s your mailbox. Inside is a letter from Shakatu.

Read the Letter

Open your inventory and look for Shakatu’s letter. Important documents have a purple background. Read it to get a comrades’ mission introduction (Guide #804: Completing Missions – in the game menu). This will complete the quest, and “Bustling Hill” starts.

Shakatu’s letter reads:
I heard you’ve settled at Howling Hill. I’ve almost finished putting the guild’s affairs in order, so I’ve prepared a modest gift to express my gratitude for your assistance. I hope it offers even a small help as you build your new home.
May your comrades find their way to your precious refuge, and may it continue to prosper.

Guildmaster Shakatu”
