Maintenance Protocol is a post-game side story in Control Resonant that sends Dylan through the basement door of the Oldest House in the Underpass. After the credits, Zoe’s Briefing starts it, and then you track down three failing light bulbs that each need a different fix. Here is every step in the same order as the in-game quest log.

Zoe’s Briefing
Side Story: Zoe’s Briefing
Location: Watchtower, after the Central Checkpoint
Quest Text: “The Hiss and the Patterning aren’t the only problems in Manhattan. Zoe wants to brief me on what’s going on.”
After you beat the game and watch the credits, return to the Oldest House. Zoe contacts Dylan for Zoe’s Briefing. She is at the Watchtower, just after the Central Checkpoint. The Maintenance Protocol side story starts right after the briefing.
1 – Investigate the Oldest House
Side Story: Maintenance Protocol (Step 1 of 7)
Location: Underpass – Oldest House basement door
Quest Text: “An alarm is going off in the Oldest House’s lowest sections, triggered for the first time in decades. I’d better find out what’s wrong.”
Return to the Underpass, to the spot where Dylan saw the sapling at the end of Recursions and Iterations. The quickest way is the Deepest Underpass Fast Travel Door, if you activated it during that quest. From there, use Reach to access the Oldest House basement door and report the door to Zoe. Then interact with the intercom to enter.
Cross the room with the Mold on ground level to reach the Oldest House. Behind the door, you also find the last two Underpass Exploration collectibles, The Roots Of The Oldest House? and On the Oldest House’s Form.
2 – Find the Light Bulb Coordinates
Side Story: Maintenance Protocol (Step 2 of 7)
Location: Underpass – Oldest House
Quest Text: “It turns out that the alarm was set off due to mysterious light bulbs failing. They need maintenance. If I don’t fix them, the Oldest House will destabilize. The slideshow pointed me to a switchboard that should show me the location of the bulbs.”
Behind the door, a checkpoint takes you to a Maintenance Worker briefing video. Watch it to the end to start this step.
Enter the small control room with the magnets and the console. Interact with the console to start.
3 – Fix the Electrosensitive Bulb
Side Story: Maintenance Protocol (Step 3 of 7)
Location: Underpass – below the Research Stations Fast Travel Door
Quest Text: “There’s a light bulb that needs maintenance at one of the Underpass research sites.”
Exit the Oldest House and use the Deepest Underpass Fast Travel Door to travel to the Research Stations Fast Travel Door. The Electrosensitive Bulb is just below it.
Before you can fix this bulb, you have to remove the electricity. Just below the bulb are three empty electric cubes and three floodlights.
Once the electricity from the cubes has been moved to the three floodlights below, you can fix the bulb.
4 – Fix the Botanophobic Bulb
Side Story: Maintenance Protocol (Step 4 of 7)
Location: Underpass – heavily Molded area
Quest Text: “There’s a heavily Molded area in the Underpass. I’ll find another light bulb there.”
The Botanophobic Bulb is in the center left of the map and overgrown by Mold and doesn’t like it. Destroy all the Mold around the bulb to fix it.
5 – Fix the Volatile Bulb
Side Story: Maintenance Protocol (Step 5 of 7)
Location: Underpass – near the Halfway Trail Fast Travel Door
Quest Text: “One of the light bulbs can be found around the concrete towers in the Underpass.”
The Volatile Bulb is just around the corner from the Halfway Trail Fast Travel Door. This bulb is very sensitive and doesn’t like threats. Interact with it first to unlock the option to talk to it, then talk to it. Defeat the Hiss that appear, then talk to the Volatile Bulb again and say “You deserve to be fixed.” Now you can fix it.
If you still need Ayad Engineering Log #1 from the Underpass Exploration collectibles, it is just north of the same Fast Travel Door.
