What Are Soul Grabbers in Banishers?

Location: All four main regions of New Eden, but not New Eden Town
Needs: the rifle, after three Haunting Cases in The Dark Woods

Soul Grabbers are the glowing white orbs you see hanging from trees and rocks all over New Eden. You can only destroy them by shooting them with the rifle, which you get after completing three Haunting Cases in The Dark Woods. Every Soul Grabber you shoot drops 1 Soul Shard, a rare material you need for upgrades. There are 128 Soul Grabbers in total, and 17 of them are in the Mire Marshes.

The overview map uses the same numbers as this guide. The route starts at the Mossy Watchtower Shelter in the west, runs through the Old Marsh Encampment and Siridean’s Island and ends around the Broken Bridge Shelter in the east.

1 – Left of the Wooden Barricade

Location: The Mire Marshes – left end of the wooden barricade east of Mossy Watchtower
Nearest Shelter: Mossy Watchtower

Mossy Watchtower is the westernmost Shelter in the Mire Marshes. Coming from the east, just before you reach it, you find a wooden barricade with a barrier that Antea can burst. Before you break through, follow the barricade wall to the left. The Soul Grabber hangs at the end, near a triangular rock formation.

2 – Up on the Mountain

Location: The Mire Marshes – on the mountain northeast of Mossy Watchtower
Nearest Shelter: Mossy Watchtower

Leave Mossy Watchtower to the northeast until you reach a vista where you can see nearly all of the Mire Marshes. Pass the wall passage on your right, then look straight up at the mountain. The Soul Grabber waits up there.

3 – Southern Marshes Tower

Location: The Mire Marshes – tree south of the two towers in the southern marsh
Nearest Shelter: Mossy Watchtower

Head to the small marsh at the very south of Mossy Watchtower, where two tower-like buildings stand. Climb the one closer to the Mossy Watchtower Shelter and look south. The Soul Grabber dangles from a tree.

4 – Tree near the Main Gate

Location: The Mire Marshes – outside the main gate of the Old Marsh Encampment
Nearest Shelter: Old Marsh Encampment

The Old Marsh Encampment is the only big settlement in the Mire Marshes, and Soul Grabbers 4 to 8 are all around it. Leave the encampment through the main gate with the drawbridge and turn right. The Soul Grabber hangs from an old tree.

5 – Fortified Southern Camp

Location: The Mire Marshes – fortified camp south of the Old Marsh Encampment

Go south of the Old Marsh Encampment Shelter to reach a fortified camp. Use the map and the screenshot below to spot where the Soul Grabber is in the camp.

6 – South, Just Outside the Encampment

Location: The Mire Marshes – pine tree in the purple fog area south of the encampment
Nearest Shelter: Old Marsh Encampment

Just outside the south of the encampment is an area full of purple fog. Antea first has to clear it by destroying the source. Near the source, look for a pine tree. The Soul Grabber hangs from it.

7 – Northern Tower

Location: The Mire Marshes – next to the Void Breach tower north of the encampment
Nearest Shelter: Old Marsh Encampment

At the very north of the encampment stands a tower with one of the Void Breaches. The side quest Coin Collector also takes you here. Look for the Soul Grabber next to the tower, facing the abyss.

8 – Eastern Encampment Gate

Location: The Mire Marshes – through the hole in the eastern barricade of the encampment
Nearest Shelter: Old Marsh Encampment

Go to the eastern exit of the encampment, the barricade gate with the two small towers. Stay on the upper level to the left of the exit and look through the hole in the barricade. The Soul Grabber hangs on a tree on the other side.

9 – Southeast of Siridean’s Island

Location: Siridean’s Island – high pointed rock above the yellow climbing wall
Nearest Shelter: Siridean’s Island

Soul Grabbers 9 to 12 are on Siridean’s Island. From the Siridean’s Island Shelter, keep to your right and follow the cave corridor to the end, where you can climb a yellow rock wall. At the top, look left. The Soul Grabber is at the high pointed rock.

10 – Northern Plains of the Island

Location: Siridean’s Island – tree on the northern plains
Nearest Shelter: Siridean’s Island

Head to the northern plains of the island. The Soul Grabber hangs in a tree at the spot shown on the map below.

11 – Void Pond

Location: Siridean’s Island – across the abyss north of the Void pond
Nearest Shelter: Siridean’s Island

At the center of the island is the Void pond with the Void Breach you travel through later in the story. Walk north across the dark surface to a cave and climb the yellow wall. At the top, look right across the abyss to spot the Soul Grabber.

12 – Boat Landing

Location: Siridean’s Island – tree at the boat landing on the shore
Nearest Shelter: Siridean’s Island

For the last Soul Grabber on Siridean’s Island, head back down to the shore with the boat landing. The Soul Grabber dangles from a tree there.

13 – Northwest in the Purple Fog

Location: The Mire Marshes – across the waterfall northwest of Broken Bridge
Nearest Shelter: Broken Bridge

The last five Soul Grabbers are on the eastern side of the Mire Marshes, around the Broken Bridge Shelter. In the area northwest of the Shelter, Antea first has to clear the purple fog. Then look west: the Soul Grabber is just across the waterfall.

14 – Border to Mount Pleasant

Location: The Mire Marshes – ledge below the path at the border to Mount Pleasant
Nearest Shelter: Broken Bridge

Head north of the Broken Bridge Shelter to the last area right at the border to Mount Pleasant. The Soul Grabber hides on a ledge just below the path.

15 – Void Breach Arrival Cave

Location: The Mire Marshes – above the cave exit opposite Broken Bridge
Nearest Shelter: Broken Bridge

Go back to the Broken Bridge Shelter. Opposite the Shelter is the cave where you arrive after travelling through the Void from Siridean’s Island in the story. Exit the cave and look up. The Soul Grabber is right above the exit.

16 – Below the Wooden Bridge

Location: The Mire Marshes – under the small wooden bridge south of Broken Bridge
Nearest Shelter: Broken Bridge

Follow the path south from the Broken Bridge Shelter until you cross a small wooden bridge. The Soul Grabber hangs below the bridge.

17 – Lake in the Southeast

Location: The Mire Marshes – lake in the southeast corner, south of Broken Bridge
Nearest Shelter: Broken Bridge

In the southeast corner of the Mire Marshes, south of the Broken Bridge Shelter, go down to the lake and look toward Siridean’s Island. The last Soul Grabber is in the distance.
