Blades of Fire: How to Cross the Citadel in the South

Quest Start

After fixing the Golem Bird in the Roggs Mountains, Aran and Adso arrive at the citadel to meet Thalmudak, a Primordial ally of Queen Nerea. After defeating his minions, Aran enters the citadel and can rest at The Penitent’s Gate anvil, located on the top level of the citadel.

To the southeast of the anvil is an inactive energy node that requires Aran to carry energy to it from another source. East of the anvil, the railing is damaged.

Father’s Relic

Near the inactive energy node is a device that requires a round relic to be placed – the Father’s Relic. To find it, drop down to the middle level, where the railing is damaged and the undead are patrolling. Before picking up the energy there, you may want to check first which path to take once you carry it.

Transport the energy back to the energy node the way shown on the screenshot above. Once placed, the bridges on the middle level will appear. Drop down to the middle level again, cross the bridge, and turn left to find a shiny statue that holds the Father’s Relic. Return to the anvil and place the Father’s Relic into the mechanism. This will activate the elevators on the middle level. They go down to the bottom level.

Mother’s Relic

On the bottom level is another statue near an energy source, but the statue is empty. To find the Mother’s Relic, travel to the Hell’s Bell Anvil at Doyen Graves.

Enter the chamber and head left across the muddy section to reach the dark chamber. Once inside, Aran will die instantly without a light rune, so make sure he has one. From the starting point, you can see the light on the other side, but a structure blocks the way. You need to move around it with your weapon drawn, but act quickly – time is limited before the light rune fades. This can be tricky, so here’s some advice:

1 – Keep your weapon drawn.
2 – Blocking all the time will let you run out of time.
3 – Use a combination of fight and dodge.
4 – Don’t run… your light may get lost.

On the other side, you can open the gates with a lever and retrieve the Mother’s Relic

Return to the Citadel of Tharas-Münda and place the Mother’s Relic in the mechanism. This will activate the center elevator that takes you to the fight with Thalmundak.
