How to Reach the Northern Hiss City
The Northern Hiss City lies south of the Watchtower Domain, separated by a sandstorm. A withered stone with an inscription stands before it, but Adso cannot read the text due to its deteriorated state. To reach the Southern Hiss City, head north to the City of Curved Stones and walk directly into the sandstorm – this will transport you there.
To open the northern gate of the Southern Hiss City, you need to activate two blue orb dispensers located near the sealed gates on either side of the northern Anvil Gate. Start by heading to the arena and locating the green orb dispenser. Carefully dodge the green orb and move left, where you’ll encounter a group of Hiss enemies. Defeat them to acquire the Viper Key.
Return to the green orb dispenser near the arena and use the Viper Key to unlock a nearby gate. Once inside, dodge the green orb again and quickly climb the ladder behind the gate. At the top, you’ll find one of the blue orb dispensers that will teleport you to one of the chambers holding a blue button. Press this button to open the first gate.
For the second blue button, head west to a closed gate. To access it, squeeze through a narrow gap near the arena. Refer to your map to locate a winding staircase nearby. At the end of the staircase, you’ll find a lever that lowers the quicksand in the northwest section of the Southern Hiss City. Once the quicksand subsides, cross the area while avoiding the green orb dispenser. Climb the ladder beyond the quicksand to find another blue orb dispenser. This will lead you to the second gate with the blue button.
Press both blue buttons simultaneously to open the Anvil Gate. Interact with the inscription near the anvil to learn its content. Finally, return to the Serpents Amphitheater Anvil and use the inscription on the withered stone to gain access to the Northern Hiss City.
3 – Inscribed Stone Room
As soon as you enter the Inscribed Stone Room in the south (named the Central Hiss Hall on the map), where the Anvil is, the doors close, and sand will pour in. Look up where the Anvil should be. There is a hook you can interact with. This will take you to another area. Search this zone for a crank and use it to get out. Then, head back to the Inscribed Room with the Inscribed Stone Room Anvil, where you can enter a balcony to the east and find this chest.

4 – Hurmuz’s Statue
Hurmuz’s Statue is not far from the Inscribed Stone Room, on a balcony. It requires a charged Hurmuz’s Amulet, where you have to find and defeat three Forger Sentinels first to charge the amulet.
To charge the amulet, return to the room below the Inscribed Stone Room, where you end up escaping the sand filling the room, and where you can find the Ogre’s tooth to receive the Novice’s Flute in the story. Down here is a Light Rune Inscription that will release the Forger Sentinels.
Return to Hurmuz’s statue and interact with it to place the charged amulet. Hurmutz will detonate the entrance to the locked cave that he’s pointing to. Return to the place where you climbed the rope up to escape the room below the Inscribed Stone Room, just below the blue orb dispenser. Here you can walk a narrow ledge to reach the chest inside the cave.

5 – Crow Templar Light Rune
On the way back from the previous chest, let the blue dispenser hit you with the blue orb. This will take you to a Templar that requires a crow to wake. Use a Light Rune at the nearby Light Rune Inscription. This will make a yellow bridge appear to cross over the abyss to reach the chest and the crow. Defeating the Templar will give you one of Nerea’s Tears.
