The Red Key

Where to Find the Red Key

You receive the Red Key from the Gatekeeper near the Nushi’s Lair: Gate Approach campsite. Once Emma walks up to the gate, he hands over the key along with hints about where the other two are hiding.

Where the Red Key is Used

Besides the gate to the Nushi’s Lair, the Red Key opens a door in the Abandoned Village with a Strongbox behind it.

Blue Key Location

Where to Find the Blue Key

The Blue Key is at the Lookout Shack, northeast of the Subcity 03 entrance. You will spot a red pillar in the distance marking the spot, so head straight for that. There is a campsite of the same name right next to it, which makes the return trip quick.

Blue Key Not Showing Up

If there is nothing to collect at the Lookout Shack, you are simply too early in the story. The keys only become available after the first fight with the Nushi, once you have entered Subcity 03 and spoken to the Gatekeeper. The key is not missing and it is not a bug. Carry on with the main quest, then come back and it will be there.

Blue Key Door Location

Besides the gate to the Nushi’s Lair, the Blue Key opens a door next to the warehouse east of the River Fork campsite. Follow the story quest to receive the key, then return to open the door and loot the strongbox behind it.

Yellow Key Location

Where to Find the Yellow Key

The Yellow Key is at the end of the cave north of Tailwater Village. A bear malefact guards the way in and drops the Tailwater Key when you beat it.

Use the Tailwater Key on the door inside the cave, then talk to the guardian in the room behind it to receive the Yellow Key.

Besides the gate to the Nushi’s Lair, the Yellow Key opens the locked building north of the river, east of Village by the Bridge, where Strongbox 8 is waiting.

Yellow Key Backstory

If you are here for the lore, there is a document from the golem who once carried the Yellow Key. You will find it in the back room at Subcity 02, next to another strongbox.

Using All Three Keys at the Nushi’s Lair Door

With the Red, Blue and Yellow Keys in your inventory, return to the Nushi’s Lair: Gate Approach campsite and use all three at the door to start the fight with the Nushi. Before you do, finish anything you still want from the Ogouchi Buffer Zone, because the story moves you straight on to the next zone afterwards.

Where is the Blue Key in Beast of Reincarnation?

At the Lookout Shack in the north of the Ogouchi Buffer Zone, northeast of the Subcity 03 entrance. A red pillar visible from a distance marks the location.

Why is the Blue Key not showing up?

You have not reached the right story point yet. The keys unlock after the first Nushi fight and the conversation with the Gatekeeper in Subcity 03.

Where do you get the Red Key?

The Gatekeeper gives it to you automatically when Emma approaches the Nushi’s Lair gate in Subcity 03. There is nothing to search for.

What does the Yellow Key open?

Do you need all three keys for the Nushi’s Lair door?
