How to Start Job Gone Wrong in Starfield

You pick up Job Gone Wrong automatically while travelling with Sam Coe for The Empty Nest. When you enter Akila City, a guard at the city gate warns you about a robbery at GalBank.

You have to finish Job Gone Wrong before you can go down to the GalBank Vault for The Empty Nest.

1 – Talk to Daniel Blake

Mission Text:
“A guard in Akila City warned me about a hostage situation at GalBank. If I want to help, I need to talk to Marshal Blake, head of the Freestar Rangers.”

Introduce yourself to Marshal Daniel Blake. He is standing in front of GalBank.

2 – Persuade the Bank Robbers to Surrender

Mission Text:
“Some bank robbers are holed up in GalBank with hostages. I need to find out what the robbers want.”

Go up to the entrance of GalBank and interact with the intercom to talk to the robbers.

How to Persuade the Bank Robbers

There are two persuasion checks. The first one does not matter. Whether you pass or fail, the robbers give you their demands anyway.

The second persuasion is the hard one, and you really have to be at your best to get the robbers to surrender. Save before you start it so you can reload and try again.

3 – Talk to Daniel Blake

Go back to Daniel Blake and tell him the robbers’ demands. He gives you the key to the back door of GalBank.

4 – Ask to See the Hostages or Sneak Into the Bank

Mission Text:
“I need to get into GalBank so I can take out the bank robbers and free the hostages. I can ask to see the hostages and make sure they’re safe, or sneak in through the back.”

You can get into GalBank two ways: ask the robbers to see the hostages and go in through the front, or use Blake’s key and sneak in through the back door. Either way, you have to take out the bank robbers inside.

Front Door or Back Door – Which Saves the Hostages

Sneaking in through the back door is the safer choice. Asking to see the hostages first and then trying to free them got the hostages killed in most attempts. Sneaking in at the back kept them alive much more often.

Whichever way you go in, attack quickly. The longer the fight takes, the more the hostages are at risk.

5 – Talk to Daniel Blake

Return to Daniel Blake for the debrief. This ends Job Gone Wrong, and the follow-up Freestar Rangers mission Deputized starts.

With the robbery dealt with, you can head back into GalBank with Sam to continue The Empty Nest.
