War Relics – Starfield United Colonies Mission Walkthrough

“War Relics” is the seventh Vanguard mission for the United Colonies in Starfield. It’s the follow-up mission of “THE DEVILS YOU KNOW“. Here’s the step-by-step walkthrough.

After you’ve dealt with Vae Victis’ request to get rid of Orlase in the previous mission, he will give you the location of Kaiser, an important member of Hadrian’s research team…

1. REPORT TO HADRIAN

Mission text:
“Vae Victis has given me the location of Kaiser, but expects I’ll need some additional information to bring him home. He suggested I check in with Hadrian first.”

Hadrian is at the “Red Devils Headquarters” on Mars, the now re-used research station. Take the elevator down from Mars’ surface and look for Hadrian at the lower level of the facility. You can decide here and now if you want to tell her about Vae Victis or not.

Follow her after the conversation. She will give you Kaiser’s schematics and a voice authorization code.

2. SEARCH FOR KAISER ON NIIRA

Mission text:
“I’ve now got Kaiser’s schematic catalogue and the password for his voice controls: “Nos Belli Machinis.” Next stop: 1-Of-A-Kind Salvage on Niira.”

Set course to Niira. It’s north of the Sol System in the Narion System. The first planet. Land at “1-of-a-Kind Salvage” and enter the building.

Find “Gel” at ground level and speak to him. He knows Kaiser, but won’t give out the information for free. Either pay, persuade him or take your chances alone in the field.

3. PROCEED TO THE SYRACUSE

Mission text:
“I know how to find Kaiser! Looks like I’m headed towards a nearby crashed spaceship – The Syracuse.”

So, before you head out, just know that Niira’s surface is full of Sirens. If you don’t like to fight, try to make use of the salvage yards’ defense systems and the explosives canisters lying around.

The Syracuse is a wrecked ship not far from the salvage yard. As soon as you get close enough to the ship. The mission objective changes to “Follow the beacon”. There is an entrance to the ship to get to the mission marker. It will lead you to Kaiser, with three heatleeches sucking energy out of him. Just kill the creatures.

4. SPEAK TO KAISER

Mission text:
“I found Kaiser! No I just need to give him the password – “Nos Belli Maninis” – to unlock his voice controls.”

Speak to Kaiser and answer “Nos Belli Machinis.”

5. FIND A MICROCELL

Mission text:
“The Heatleeches have completely drained Kaiser’s battery. He’ll need a new one. He suggested I ask at the salvage yard if they have one.”

Head back to the salvage yard, enter and ask Gel about a Microcell. You can either ask him about how to make one yourself and go collect the parts on the yard, or you can just buy one. If you make one yourself, you get to learn the recipe. If you want to buy it, it’s in the “Misc” section of Gel’s shop.

If you want to build it yourself, you will get the mission markers for the parts that you have to collect on the scrap yard.

6. RETURN THE MICROCELL TO KAISER

Mission text:
“MicroCell acquired. Now I just need to hand it over to Kaiser.”

Go back to Kaiser’s location and hand over the MicroCell. Now you can speak to Kaiser and help on the mission to defeat “Unit 99”.

7. FOLLOW KAISER TO THE MISSION SITE

Mission text:
“Kaiser won’t leave the planet unless I help him finish his current mission – eliminating the planet’s final Xenoweapon, Unit 99 – so that’s where we’re headed.”

Follow Kaiser, speak to him when prompted and then clear the Ecliptic base with Unit 99. Talk to Kaiser when you’re done and tell him about the Terrormorph mission.

8. RETURN TO THE RED DEVILS HQ

Mission text:
“Kaiser has agreed to accompany me back to Mars. He says he’ll meet me back at my ship.”

Travel back to the Red Devils HQ on Mars, Sol and meet with everyone inside. This will end the mission. The follow-up HOSTILE INTELLIGENCE starts.
