Recover the BT Crystal from the Special Large BT

Keep helping the Fisherman until he gives you Sub Order 117, Defeat the Lord of the Tar Lake. He will then send you out to the northeast to recover a BT crystal from the special large BT. You will need an EX Capture Grenade, which you have received from The Metagenomicist, when connecting her to the Chiral Network.

Travel to the highlighted mission area just by the weapons factory in the desert. Place a manual marker right at this mission marker, so you won’t lose sight of the center.

Once you arrive, head to the center of the mission area. There, you’ll find Gazer BTs – these are the ones that barely move and have an umbilical cord. Let yourself be seen and caught.

Next, the tar will rise, and the Hunter BTs arrive. Like with the Gazers, let yourself be caught by them.

After a short travelling sequence, Sam arrives at the location where the Catcher BT emerges. This is the one you have to catch with an EX Catcher grenade. First, weaken it until its health bar is red. Then wait until it opens its mouth to throw the grenade right inside. This will make it turn into a white Chiral Crystal. Pick it up to complete this part of the order.

Defeat the Lord of the Tar Lake

Return to the south of the Tar Lake. Make sure you’re well equipped with Grenade Launchers, Grenades, and other BT weapons of your choice. As soon as you enter the Mission Zone, you will notice a red circle on the map.

Everywhere inside this red circle, you can now summon the BT that you caught. Open the Tools menu. In the “Special” section, you can now summon the BT Crystal (Delphis).

The BT will appear next to Sam, but not for long. Watch your friendly BT carefully. Soon, you will see a green glow in the tar. That’s where the Lord of the Tar Lake will emerge. In the fight ahead, as soon as you see this green glow below Sam, make sure you move out of the way; otherwise, Sam is instantly defeated.

Fight and defeat the Lord of the Tar Lake. I primarily used a Grenade Launcher and finished it off with a shotgun. The Fisherman will be very happy, rewarding Sam with his hologram, Patch 48: BT Cetus, and a place to stay.
