About Eastern Environmental Observatory
The post-Stranding sky is filled with chiral clouds, chiral particles at lower altitudes, and chiral radiation known to render electrical equipment unusable. All forms of flight, manned or unmanned, are therefore impossible.
The Eastern Environmental Observatory, however, sits above the chiral clouds, allowing it to collect data on the sky above and making it a critical piece of scientific infrastructure. While the observatory was originally constructed below the chiral cloud line, the clouds have gradually dropped in altitude. It is no exaggeration to say, then, that the observatory is located in one of the strangest environments in all of Australia.
Administrator: Ridge Frost

An APAC staff member who operates and maintains the Eastern Environmental Observatory all by himself.
In the past, several staff members operated the observatory. Ever since a voidout destroyed Lakeside Fort Knot (F5), however, there has been no one to relieve Ridge. He’s been left to operate the facility on his own, as he tries not to be overwhelmed by feelings of isolation and loneliness. Chiral radiation means his mind and body are also suffering the effects of chiral contamination, and he has teetered on the brink of death on more than one occasion.
Rewards: Eastern Environmental Observatory
Each Knot City and Shelter has a five-star reward system, granting rewards and upgrades with every star reached. Gain more reputation by delivering goods. APAS firmware upgrades, bandwidth increases, and Material Allotment increases are granted with every star reward. Shelters additionally offer Sam a place to rest at the 5-Star level.
Porter-to-Porter Advice
Struggling to find enough cargo to boost Sam’s reputation with the Eastern Environmental Observatory? There’s a simple solution. Open the Ring Terminal menu and head to the “Orders” section. From there, navigate to the “Search” tab and select The Eastern Environmental Observatory under “Delivery/Report Destination.” Confirm your search, and you’ll receive a list of available Order Locations for the Eastern Environmental Observatory. It’s a quick and convenient way to make a Porter’s job a whole lot easier.

If a stabiliser cannot prevent you from falling altogether, it should at least lessen the impact of a fall. The device has a built-in battery, increasing Sam’s overall battery capacity.
Even the most experienced porter sometimes loses their balance because of tiredness or complacency. Attaching a stabiliser to your backpack will alleviate the pain and embarrassment of such moments.
