Crimson Desert: A Rumor Fueled by Greed Walkthrough

A Rumor Fueled by Greed is a Hernand Commission in Crimson Desert, likely unlocked after capturing Ulzok in the Sweet Taste of Bounties questline. Rumor has it that a valuable document is hidden somewhere in Reventine Monastery in the Demeniss region – but tracking it down requires more than just showing up. This guide covers where to go, how to acquire the information you need, and what to do once you have it, including a tip for a known eavesdrop prompt issue.

The Rumor Fueled by Greed is a Hernand Commission: Tales of the Hernandian Residents. I assume that you get this quest after capturing Ulzok in the Greymanes: Scattered Embers’ Sweet Taste of Bounties questline. But you can gladly correct me if I’m wrong.

Quest description:
“Rumor speaks of a valuable document hidden within the Reventine Monastery. It may be wise to heed those eager for sudden fortune.”

Reventine Monastery is in the Demeniss region, just east of Hernand’s Hook Rapids. It’s also where you have to catch a Leopard Perch for the Greymane Alec.

The document is not in the monastery itself but near the house closest to the notice board. There are two men you can eavesdrop on. It will trigger the eavesdropping tutorial. It is essential to get the “Eavesdrop” prompt. I got it by leaning against the nearby wall. Then stay there to eavesdrop until you’ve learned everything needed for the next quest step.

If you’re not getting the eavesdrop prompt here – it happened to me, too – fast-travel to the nearest point to reset the area. Then come back and try again.

There is a concealed door in the monastery that looks like a bookshelf.

Walk through the bookshelf to reach the hidden room with a strongbox. Solve the picture puzzle to open it and take the box inside. You need to wear a mask to steal it. There is nothing special about the document. It can be sold for 8.09 silver.
