Complete Guide to Eridian Writing in Borderlands 3

Eridian Writing is one of the unique challenges in Borderlands 3. These ancient glyphs are scattered across the game’s different locations. To interact with them, you first need to unlock the ability to decipher Eridian Writing. This ability is part of the game’s main story. If you encounter Eridian Writing in Borderlands 3 and can’t read it yet, continue progressing through the campaign, and the skill will eventually unlock. Once deciphered, each writing reveals lore about the game’s universe.

Ambermire has two Eridian Writing locations.

Ambermire Overview Map

First Ambermire Eridian Writing

The first is at the base of a massive tree, where you’ll decipher a message relating to “Uncountable.”

Second Ambermire Eridian Writing

The second is inside a small cave, and its meaning is tied to “Sleep.” Both writings are easy to reach if you consult your in-game map.

The Eridian Writing in Ascension Bluff is located in a temple-like structure tucked in a cave at a dead end. The meaning of this writing is “Gnaw.”

Athenas features a single Eridian Writing, which is located inside a temple at the far end of the map. It symbolizes “Purpose.” Reaching it only requires you to follow the straightforward path to the temple.

To find the Eridian Writing at Atlas HQ, head to Rhys’s office. You can access it by using an elevator. The writing here translates to “Burden.”

This writing is hidden behind the waterfall in the Gardens area, near the Typhon Dead Drop. The meaning you’ll uncover here is “Change.”

Look for the Eridian Writing on a large rock in the road area of the Carnivora map. It represents the concept of “Feeding.”

A garage door leads into a cave where you’ll find this Eridian Writing. Deciphering it unlocks the meaning “Key.”

Desolation’s Edge holds two Eridian Writing locations.

First Desolation’s Edge Eridian Writing

The first is on a temple wall and means “Erased.”

Second Desolation’s Edge Eridian Writing

The second is near a steam vent used in the side quest “Bad Vibrations,” and its translation is “Language.”

Devil’s Razor has two writings.

First Devil’s Razor Eridian Writing

The first can be found next to a large animal skull near the Fast Travel point and reflects “Building Pandora (Part 1).”

Second Devil’s Razor Eridian Writing

The second is inside a small cave and symbolizes “Building Pandora (Part 2).”

Floodmoor Basin also has two pieces of Eridian Writing.

First Floodmoor Basin Eridian Writing

One is under a waterfall in Dino territory, symbolizing “Guardians“.

Second Floodmoor Basin Eridian Writing

The other is beneath a massive tree with the meaning “Tools.”

This writing is located above the monitors in the surveillance station. It translates to “Mantle.”

Near the Crimson Radio, at the base of a tree, you’ll find this Eridian Writing. Its meaning is “Free.”

Unlock the Eridian cave through a robot-related side quest to find this writing. It translates to “Warrior.”

At the lowest level of Lectra City, follow the train tracks from the underground station to find this writing near a Dead Claptrap. It means “Hunted.”

Near the Fast Travel point at Watershed Base, you’ll find this Eridian Writing, which translates to “Braid.”

Behind a curtain in the doctor’s office, you’ll find the Meridian Outskirts writing. Its meaning is “Witch.”

This cave-located writing is accessible after passing through the train station. It means “Deal.”

After exiting the maintenance shaft, locate a large orange pipe. Climb it to find the Skywell-27 writing, which translates to “Knotted.”

After taking the elevator up to the vault, search the side rooms of a square chamber. One room contains the writing with the translation “Side by Side.”

The Anvil’s writing is in the laundry room near the beginning of the map. It symbolizes “Consciousness.”

The Droughts features two writings.

First The Droughts Eridian Writing

One is near the Legendary Hunt inside a cave, and it translates to “Names of the Destroyer.”

Second The Droughts Eridian Writing

The second writing is located at the Eridian Dig Site and means “Curiosity.”

Located near the vertical steam vent, this writing is perched on top of a pillar. It translates to “Crypt.”

The Splinterlands offers a single writing hidden inside a small cave. Its translation is “Lure.”
