Mission 5: The Red Hood Gang is the first truly sprawling mission in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Before you can even enter ACE Chemicals, you’ll need to unlock the Subwayne fast-travel station at Tricorner Island, visit the Batcave, analyse mysterious teddy bears at Wayne Industries, and investigate a crashed helicopter. This guide walks you through every step – including all 5 Ace Cards, the Toxic Waste Red Brick, and all 5 Wayne Tech Caches – so nothing gets missed.

How to Replay a Mission
In case you didn’t find all collectibles in the first story playthrough, don’t worry. You can still get it. Play the story to Mission 6: Shreck’s Department Store, where you restore the Batcave.
Then, travel to the Batcave and interact with the computer at the top, next to the red batphone. Here you can select the mission you would like to play again.
You will also see the status. If the box is ticked: Congratulations, you’ve found all the collectibles in this mission. If not, there is still work to be done!
Batcave Trophy: Ace Cards
Find and destroy 5 Ace Cards in this Mission to receive the Batcave Trophy: Ace Cards. Each adds up to the total of 170 Trophy Collectibles. Therefore, you will have 5 of 170 Trophy Collectibles after destroying all five Ace Cards.
Here’s where they are:
Red Brick: Toxic Waste
In the big production hall, find a way to flush the Red Brick out of the pipe!
Wayne Tech Caches
Find and open 5 Wayne Tech Caches in this Mission to receive a total of five WayneTech Chips.
Here’s where they are:
The Subwayne
Unlocking the Subwayne at Tricorner Island is one of 58 open-world collectibles at Tricorner. The Subwaynes are the fast-travel points in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. So unlocking them early on is key.
Go to the Tunnel
The tunnel is in the center-south of Tricorner Island, at the coordinates 217, 116. There is a big, yellow “SubWayne” sign on the wall.
Unlock the Shutter to the Tunnel
And then, I thought it would just open up :-). The shutter has four cables going away from it. There is one target above the shutter. Shoot it with a batarang!
Then, switch to Jim Gordon and follow the cable to the right to find a mechanism to stop moving with Jim Gordon’s Foam Sprayer. You can then shoot the target above the mechanism with a batarang.
The third target is on the roof, and the last one will open up above the shutter after shooting the previous three. You now get access to fast-travel. Move to the north of the map and select the Batcave to fast-travel.
Spelunking
Clear the Path to the Elevator
At the Batcave, you get to know that Jim Gordon not only has the Foam Sprayer, but also the Rebound Laucher! Use it to smash the crates in front of you. This will unlock the Subwayne fast-travel point to Tricorner Island.
Find a Way to Access the Elevator
Destroy everything in front of the elevator, “Detect” the area, and pick up the Batclaw.
Pull Down the Elevator Ramp
Now you can use the Batclaw on those yellow grapple plugs. Target and shoot the yellow plug and pull on it until the elevator is accessible. Ride it upstairs by turning the crank.
Minikit 1 of 10
There are 10 Minikits in the Batcave. Each collected Minikit adds to the Trophy Collectibles counter. By collecting 10, you will have collected 10 of the total of 170 Trophy Collectibles. This is an open-world objective, not a mission objective. You can’t pick them all up in the mission.
At the top of the elevator, when you get the objective to turn the power on, head to the ledge of the platform and look down when standing next to the indestructible desk with the computer. There is a Minikit down below. Drop down to get it.
Minikit 2 of 10
There are 10 Minikits in the Batcave. Each collected Minikit adds to the Trophy Collectibles counter. By collecting 10, you will have collected 10 of the total of 170 Trophy Collectibles. This is an open-world objective, not a mission objective. You can’t pick them all up in the mission.
Head back by riding the elevator to the top again. This time, follow the wooden planks to the right of this area to find another Minikit.
Turn the Power On
Detect and pick up the battery to put it into the generator, and place the bear onto the computer’s scanner. Use the computer to start.
Build a Gadget Bench
While waiting for the analysis, build a Gadget Bench by smashing the crates and building the workbench with the parts.
Wayne Tech Cache 1 of 10
Find and open 10 Wayne Tech Caches in the Batcave to receive 10 WayneTech Chips as a reward. This is an open-world objective, not a mission objective. You can’t pick them all up in the mission.
This WayneTech Cache is part of the story. It will arrive after the Gadget Workbench is built.
Purchase an Upgrade
Interact with the Gadget Workbench to buy the Batarang Combo upgrade with WayneTech Chips, then check the progress on the Bear Analysis and pick it up to return to the Batmobile below. Return to Tricorner Island via fast-travel by Subwayne.
A Family Friend
Access to the open-world South Island is now unlocked. South Island is divided into five separate collectible areas: Old Gotham South, Old Gotham North, Old Gotham West, The Cauldron South, and The Cauldron North – Ace Chemicals. The Family Friend is in the Old Gotham North area at the coordinates 366, 395. Head to the door to officially start the mission.
Waynetech R&D
Plug Power Cells into the Generator
You’re now playing as Bruce and/or Lucius. The first objective is to find three power cells for the bear scanner generator. In the back room is a half-finished car, with the power cell on top of the lockers. Destroy everything here to build a grapple on the car. Use the grapple to get the power cell. Pick it up and place it in the generator.
WayneTech Cache 1 of 16 in Old Gotham North
This Cache counts towards the Old Gotham North collectibles. This one is one of sixteen in Old Gotham North.
The first WayneTech Cache is just left of your starting position. Look for a line of golden studs leading to an underground vent. Follow it to the room with the cache.
For the second power cell, destroy everything around the generator to find it on the floor. Pick it up and place it in the generator.
For the last power cell, move the toolbox to the right. Then get on top to pick up the power cell on top of the lab equipment. Take it to the generator.
Pick up the power cable and plug it into the bear analyser. Then, analyse the bear by pushing the machine’s button.
Analyse the Bear
This will start a little Chemical Analysis puzzle. Find the matching parts and place them into the three fields. You will need a yellow part and a red part in the center. Leave WayneTech after.
Glider Calibration
Playing as Batman and Jim Gordon again, the first part of the mission starts with the introduction of Gliding in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
Find a Way to go Higher
Fly to the mission marker. Fly through the circles to collect studs. If you were wondering about those updraft vents in the open world, this is where you learn how to use them. Destroy everything on the rooftop. Then use Batman’s Bat Claw to pull the yellow grapple plug off the wall to get the rest of the parts. Now you can build a ventilator. Use the updraft to glide higher.
Grapple to the crane in front of you, then Glide Launch during grapple.
Find the Citizen
A police call comes in with a citizen in need. Glide to the location and help them.
Caught Red Hooded
Analyse the Bears
There are three bears spread in this vast area of ACE Chemicals. Reach and analyse them.
The first one is straight ahead to the west, where the yellow container is hanging off a crane. There is a green container in this area that has a yellow grapple plug. Use the Bat Claw on it to open the container and analyse the bear in another Chemical Analysis puzzle. You need the orange part and the rough purple part.
For the second bear, I head east to a warehouse with roof access, where a red train wagon holds the bears. As before, use the Bat Claw to pull open the back of the wagon to access the bear. This time, you will need three parts: Orange, Dark Green Flat Cube, and Dark Green Spikes.
The third and last bear is in the south, inside the big round structure with the open roof. There is a pile of bears right where the green chemical pours out. Switch to Jim Gordon and use the Foam Sprayer on the spout to stop the chemical. Now you can access the bear and analyse it. You need four components here: Green with the circle in the center, Dark Green Cube, Light Green Smooth Cube, and the Blue.
Get to the Entrance
Find the ACE Chemicals building entrance in the north. To enter, look for the crawlspace pointed out by the mission marker.
Ace Chemicals – Mission 5 Start
Pick up the Key
After entering (and finally starting Mission 5: The Red Hood Gang), you first have to defeat a brute. He will drop a key after his defeat. Pick it up and use it on the elevator to enter ACE Chemicals.
Cross the Large Gap
First, plug the fire spout with Jim Gordon’s Foam Sprayer to receive additional building parts. Then, switch to Batman and use his Bat Claw on the fan to get enough parts to build an updraft vent. You can now enter the vent. You can make a quick pit stop in the alcove just above where the vent is in the second screenshot to pick up a purple stud.
Follow the Bears
Another fun bit before leaving: Destroy everything here to build a forklift. You can then move on to the left side, following the flow of the bears in the big pipe.
For Fun: Flippers
Before following the bears, follow the golden studs to the right and crawl through the crawlspace to find a blue stud and a Flippers game in this room.
For Fun: Purple Stud
Also, before leaving, grapple with the top of the tank where the bears are cooking. At the back are two tanks with steam spouts. Switch to Jim Gordon and use the Foam Sprayer on those two. The tanks will explode, giving you access to the Purple Stud.
You can then press a red button to continue following the bears. Plug the chemical leak by using Jim Gordon’s Foam Sprayer.
To destroy the vent so you can pass through, use Batman’s Bat Claw on the yellow grapple plug and pull the cover off. Then switch to Jim Gordon to use the Foam Sprayer on the vent’s mechanism to stop it.
There is a big ventilation shaft on the other side of the vent and a Wayntech Cache at the bottom. To continue, glide through the big round hole at the top.
Continue on through the crawlspace and take down the thug at the other end. It’s a large production hall with many Red Hood thugs and a surveillance camera. The next door to follow the bears is at the other end of the hall.
Red Brick: Toxic Waste
The Red Brick is behind the window next to the exit. You can see it through the window when going through the corridor.
To get it, go to the next room and use the crawlspace there. In the room with the Red Brick in the pipe, use Batman’s Bat Claw to pull open the overhead crawlspace.
Switch to Jim Gordon and use the Foam Sprayer on both valve releases. The Red Brick just fell out of the pipe on the other side of the window. Grapple up to the overhead crawlspace to get it, after using the Foam Sprayer for the third time.
Shut Down the Mixing Machine
Open the door together with Jim Gordon and squeeze through, then go through the overhead crawlspace to defeat another brute and his friends. After the fight, a couple of boxes appear. Destroy them all to build a canon. Use Batman’s Bat Claw on it.
Factory Meltdown
Chase Red Hood One
After the Mixing Machine’s destruction, the Factory Meltdown begins. Use Jim Gordon’s Foam Sprayer to plug the holes in the pipes ahead and cross over. Head upstairs to follow Red Hood One.
Keep following Red Hood One. Glide over the collapsed passages.
Grapple to the crane in front of you, then Glide Launch during grapple.
Build an air catapult to get over the wall and plug the toxic release pipes at the top with Jim Gordon’s Foam Sprayer.
A police call comes in with a citizen in need. Glide to the location and help them.
Look for a Way Out
Defeat the thugs in the next room. Shoot the water valve with a Batarang to extinguish the fire, then plug it again with Jim Gordon’s Foam Sprayer.
Chase Red Hood One
Plug the fire valve at the exit with Jim Gordon’s Foam Sprayer, then go to the next area.
To call the elevator, use Batman’s Batarang to shoot the target through the broken window. The elevator gets destroyed, but you can grapple up now.
A jump and glide parkour follows. Try gliding through the rings to get extra studs. You can block the fire spouts with Jim Gordon’s Foam Sprayer. At the end, destroy the water valve with the Batarang or the Rebound Launcher. Plug the valve again with the Foam Sprayer to get through.
Red Hood One will attack again in the next room. After the attack, plug the fire valve with Jim Gordon’s Foam Sprayer, then shoot the target to start the catapults. Use them to continue, but make sure to pick up the last Ace Card here!
Escape through the big, fallen pipe. At the top, you can pull a grapple plug on a pipe to break it. Plug it once more with Jim Gordon’s Foam Sprayer to have an exit to an arena. Henchmen will attack while Red Hood One fires his launcher. Dodge his attacks and defeat all the henchmen. Chase after him, lift a pile of debris, and enjoy the ending cutscene.
