Vault Hunter’s Guide to Kairos – 1

The Vault Hunter’s Guide to Kairos: The Outbounders in Borderlands 4 is tucked away in the eastern cliffs. To make this discovery easier, consider accepting the Side Quest: Hangover Helper. Ole Shammy, the local bar owner, will point you in that direction, and you might stumble upon it during your journey.

1 – A Hair-brained Scheme

West of the Pool of Re-Flex-tion POI is a natural stone bridge, leading to a wooden house. Inside is this ECHO Log.

Description:
“Rafa shares his brand new hair product.”

2 – A Prisoner’s Promise

In the southwest, just by the beach east of the Headquarters of the Crimson Resistance, is a capsized boat with the ECHO Log lying next to it.

Description:
“A prisoner shares their daily recitations.”

3 – A Novel Find

You’ll find large animal bones between the Abandoned Post Safehouse and Shammy’s Shack. This ECHO Log is located by the skull.

4 – About the Doubt

There is a small shelter on the ledge just east of the Stockroom Order Silo. Use it to glide there.

Description:
“Rush isn’t sure hope is enough.”

5 – A Marker’s Mark

For this ECHO Log, you first have to do “The Boss” Side Mission line, starting at The Low Ley’s with Mob Mentality. Continue on and complete the Side Missions “Mob Rules”, “Angry Mob”, “Mob Justice”, and “La-La-Last Call”. Then you can finally pick up the Side Mission “Ain’t No Sham in It”, to meet the moonshiner, who will be at Shammy’s Shack. The ECHO Log will be on the counter and is a mission-relevant ECHO that counts as a Coastal Bonescape collectible.

Dead Bolts – 2

1 – A Net of Lies

In the top left corner of the Coastal Bonescape, you’ll find the Sandytoes Villa. Head to the back terrace to locate the “A Net of Lies” Dead Bolt.

Description:

2 – The Dilly-O

This Dead Bolt is on the island called “Fishing Spot”, north of the Coastal Bonescape. Investigate the southern beach of the island to find the Dead Bolt next to a stranded person.

Lost Capsule – 1

Head to the hill between the Abandoned Post Safehouse and the Stockroom Order Silo. Kratchman, the area’s least hospitable resident, lives there. Show him who’s boss, then grab the Lost Capsule from his counter.

Propaganda Speakers – 2

1 – Plungeford

The Propaganda Speaker is in the eastern parts of Plungeford. As always, follow the deep voice of the broadcast to the speaker.

2 – Shammy’s Shack

The second Propaganda Speaker is above Shammy’s Shack. There is a Ripper nest up there.

Survivalist Caches – 3

1 – Sarrett’s Jetty

The second Survivalist Cache is on the west coast of the Coastal Bonescape, at Sarrett’s Jetty, just by the water.

2 – Harper’s Hideaway

East of Harper’s Hideaway is a covered bridge with an attic. Double-jump up to the attic to find the Survivalist Cache.

3 – Haywire Shire

The last of the three Survivalist Caches is at Haywire Shire in the southwest by the coast. The container is on top of the roof.

Evocarium – 2

1 – Eridian: Paradise

1 – Eridian: Paradise

The torch for the Evocarium is in the southern part of Harper’s Hideaway at the silo.

Use the torch to reveal three target orbs. One is on top of the barn, where Byron is. The second orb is on the center building opposite the barn, and the third is in the northwest.

You can easily climb the barn by getting on top of the silos and then landing on the nearby cages to climb up to the first orb.

Then, head over to the building opposite the barn and climb the blue silo next to it.

From the second building, you can also see the last orb. It’s at the tallest silo of the farm. After picking up the third orb, return to the torch and interact with it. This will give you the ECHO Log Eridian: Paradise.

2 – Eridian: Lost

Waterstop is an outpost in the east of the Coastal Bonescape. In the center of it is the Evocarium.

Use the torch to reveal three target orbs. One is on top of a small white water tank, the second one is on the round roof, and the third is below the building to the west. Reach all three targets to receive the ECHO Log.

The water tank orb can be accessed from the higher, northwestern side of the Waterstop.

The round roof can be reached from the previous orb. Just jump and glide across to reach the round roof.

For the last orb, look for a crawlspace with a ladder below the northeastern building. Down here, you can find the third orb. Collect the third orb and return to the Evocarium to unlock and reveal the ECHO Log Eridian: Lost.

Vault Fragment – 1

Make your way to the southwestern edge of the Coastal Bonescape, known as the Stillshore. There, you’ll find the Vault Fragment placed on the table at the rear terrace.

Vault Symbols – 3

1 – Plungeford Mill
2 – Plungeford Mountainside
3 – Waterstop

1 – Plungeford Mill

In Plungeford, the settlement in the center north of Coastal Bonescape, there is a tall mill building. To claim the Vault Symbol, you can either enter it from the bottom and climb the stairs all the way up, or you can jump across from the highest building in Plungeford.

The Vault Symbol is in a small room at the top of the staircase, etched into the wall.

2 – Plungeford Mountainside

The second Vault Symbol is easier to spot. It is edged into the mountainside in the northeast of Plungeford.

3 – Waterstop Southern Tower

In the southeast corner of the Coastal Bonescape, near Waterstop, stands a towering structure. Ascend to its summit, and just beneath the cone-shaped roof, you’ll discover the Vault Symbol etched into the surface.

Activities

Abandoned Auger Mine:
Timid Kyle’s Neglected Opening

Just north of the Abandoned Outpost, where the first settlement with Side Quests is that you will encounter in-game, is the Abandoned Auger Mine. Enter the cave below this settlement. The path will lead to “Timid Kyle’s Neglected Opening”. Be aware that you have to advance in the story until you join the Augers at Terminus Range before you can access Auger Mines.

It is a hideout with a deep, red pit in the center. When you approach the empty wall in this area, it will show a clave. Find the Clave to enter. It will turn blue and be passable when you’ve joined the Augers at Terminus Range.

Pass through the glyph and fight the threshers at the bottom of the tracks. Then look for mine tracks that are barricaded. You can break the barricade. Follow the tracks down to a room with a waterfall and jump-glide over the gap to the next passage.

Follow the only passage, crouching into a room with a ladder. Obviously, climbing it and following the upper path, ending up on a higher level of the previous waterfall room. Here you can cross over again, crouching into a room with a red pool that is filled with more threshers. The path continues behind the altar in this room, where you can destroy another barricade.

Continue following the path until you reach a stone pillar that allows you to cross over to a higher passage that leads to the vending machines of the mines. Drop down to the nearby hole to face Voraxis, a monstrous thresher. Defeating it will complete the Auger Mine activity.

Ancient Crawler: Slugmetal Ditch

The Ancient Crawler: Slugmetal Ditch Activity in the north of Coastal Bonescape is a big round scrapyard, where Rippers camp out. To complete the Ancient Crawler location at the Coastal Bonescape, you first have to find the Deposit. It’s at the bottom of the big tower.

Find an elevated platform with a grapple, located just west of the Deposit slot. There, you’ll find a canister to carry and place inside the deposit.

Now you have to reach the top of the tower. Look to the left for a grapple point on the rocky wall. A metal wall will take you to the top.

Now you can jump and glide over the top of the tower. It has a grapple point at the base of the top platform. There, pull off the metal cover from the device at the top and pick up the Crawler Vehicle Part: Smiley – Vehicle Cosmetic.

Safehouse – Abandoned Outpost

The Abandoned Outpost Safehouse is unlocked during the “Guns Blazing” Main Mission. Just follow Claptrap’s instructions and you will be fine.

Silo: The Stockroom

The Silo: Stockroom is in the northeast center of the Coastal Bonescape. Clear all enemies and interact with the Silo Console at the top of the silo to unlock Fast Travel.

Bobbleheads

Harper’s Hideaway

At the west of Harper’s Hideaway is a cliff down to the beach. On that cliff is a ledge with a bobblehead looking towards the sea.

Order Silo: The Stockroom

Head up to the platform just northeast of the platform. There is a bobblehead looking down to the Order Silo: Stockroom.

Riptide Grotto Southwest

Run up the hill southwest of Riptide Grotto to find the Flick looking out to the sea.

Safehouse Top Exit

Exit the Safehouse from the top and cross over the bridge. There is a green ledge to the right. At the back of this green ledge is the Flick.

Stillshore Coast

From Stillshore, at the southeast coast of the Coastal Bonescape, head northeast and follow the waterline, where you can wind the Bobblehead uphill in the grass.

Waterstop Vista

South of Waterstop, which is in the southeast of the Boastal Bonescape, is a vista ledge. Go to the end of it to find a Bobblehead admiring the view.

Abduction Injunction

Someone’s been beaming up beasts! Help the rancher bring her babies home.

1 – Check the Herd

Wildhorns are being mysteriously abducted! Investigate the disappearances and bring the beasties home.

At the Herd’s location, a ship will arrive, capture a beast, and take off. Its next destination is the Pool of Re-Flex-tion POI, located west of the Abandoned Outpost. From there, it heads north of Harper’s Hideaway, landing at an unnamed location where the beasts are dropped off.

2 – Free 3 Abducted Beasts

Shoot the chains off the three marked containers to free the beasts. The containers are standing around in the facility.

3 – Kill Order Captors

Grapple up to the bridge and defeat all the hostiles. Then, interact with the creature in the container.

Hangover Helper

For Moonshiners, it’s essential to find the right balance of alcohol. Enough to put the shine in
your belly, but not enough to stop you from drinking and buying more! Help Ole Shammy get it
juuuust right.

1 – Talk to Ole Shammy

The Side Quest leads you to Shammy’s Shack, a location southeast of the Order Silo: The Stockroom Safe House.

2 – Gather 4 Fruit, Kill 10 Kratch & Bada*s Kratch

Ole Shammy is sending you to the Cliffs in the east of the Coastal Bonescape region. To reach the area, you can use a couple of grapple points. The fruit you need is located within Kratch territory. Once you find the fruit, use your grapple to collect it. There are four fruits in total, spread across two plateaus, with two fruits on each. If you don’t have 10 Kratches, that’s okay – it won’t affect your progress.

3 – Place the Fruit into the Stomping Tub

Back at Ole Shammy’s place, put the fruit into the big tub in front of him. Next, you’ll need to “body slam” the fruit. To do this, stand on top of the fruit, perform a double jump, and then press the crouch button while in the air.

4 – Find Geyser

Go east from Ole Shammy’s, but follow the stream. You’ll find the Geyser in the backyard of an old house. Perform the same body slam on the geyser (double-jump & crouch button). When the geyser erupts, grapple the nuggets that are coming out of it until you have a red one.

5 – Place Red Geyser Nugget in Fruit

Return to Shammy’s Shack and place the red nugget in the fruit.

6 – Gather Mangler Scent Glands

Hunt Manglers until you have 9 Mangler Scent Glands. You will need to go to another location halfway, since one Mangler place is not enough.

7 – Place the Scent Glands in the Fruit

Return to Shammy’s Shack and place the red nugget in the fruit, pick it up, and throw it into the barrel on top of the roof.

8 – Gather Partygoers

Once the fruit is in the barrel, interact with the nearby microphone and shoot the keg and defeat them all.

Meat is Murder

Violence! Intrigue! Romance! Okay, no romance, but still!

To start making this Side Quest available, enter the main building at Harper’s Hideaway and look for someone who needs help on the ground floor. Remove the barricade in front of the door to free the quest giver, Byron.

1 – Follow Byron & Search the Barn

Follow Byron around at Harper’s Hideaway. Finding the clues in the barn is not so difficult, since all the clues have a green glow. There are:
1 – the people lying by the drill
2 – the poster with the red strokes and a smiley
3 – A dead wildhorn
4 – At the back of the barn is an arm and a leg.

2 – Find Harper

Harper is missing – those are his arm and leg. Use the highlighted radio on the workbench, and the meat grinder will start to work. Harper is found high up in the barn. Use the kill switch on the grinder, but it won’t work.

3 – Destroy Coolant Regulators

Next, you have to find and destroy two coolant regulators. They are outside, just behind the meat grinder. You have to pull open a round lid first to access them.

4 – Release & Examine Harper, the Radio

To release Harper, just shoot the rope by his feet, then examine the axe he is carrying. Then examine the radio on his chest. This will draw a new wave of Rippers.

5 – Reach Tool Shop

The Tool Shop is in the settlement in the east by the lake near the vending machine.

6 – Find Cave Beyond Waterfall

The shopowner mentions a cave behind the waterfall – just what the riddle said. The waterfall is in the center, north of the Coastal Bonescape region, in Plungeford. The Waterfall is in the north, just by the border to The Howl. Look for a barricaded cave. Inside is a guy called Zeke.

Defeat Zeke and investigate the radio on the desk to complete the Side Quest.

Brew-ha-ha

Side Mission Start:
Follows after “Ain’t no Sham in It” – Ole Shammy at Shammy’s Shack.
What it is about:
Help Ole Shammy get his nuggies!

Side Mission Steps:

-> Reach geyser: In the southeast. East of the Haywire Shire POI.

-> Unclog geyser: Stand on top and smash it with double-jump & crouch.
-> Throw in a blue nugget: Catch a blue nugget and throw it into the big machine nearby. Follow the order of colours in the set time to get the brew.
-> Prick up primo shine, return to Ole Shammy
-> Give primo shine to Ole Shammy.
