Banishers Ghosts of New Eden: A Picture of Health Walkthrough and Evelynne Choice

1 – Start A Picture of Health Haunting Case at the Hunters’ Camp

Location: The Dark Woods – northwest of the Hunters’ Camp
Hints: none yet, the case starts when Evelynne attacks you

After you take care of the hauntings of the blacksmith in Hammer and Tongs and the cook in Prudence in All Things, and deal with The Beast, exit the Hunters’ Camp toward the northwest. Squeeze through the gap in the rocky wall, and Evelynne Fitcher attacks you on the other side.

Evelynne never believed in ghosts, but now she thinks one attacked her while she was gathering plants in the woods. She dropped her bag with medical equipment and supplies and is too scared to go back for it. Red offers to help.

2 – Find Evelynne’s Medical Bag: Hint 1

Location: The Dark Woods – the pit on the other side of the precipice
Hints: 1 of 5

The bag lies to the northeast, on the other side of a precipice, so you have to walk around it. Start by heading north/northwest on the path. At the fork, turn northeast toward the barrier and use Antea to blast the wall away. Keep going on the path, staying on the right side, until you can descend to the area with the bag.

On the way down, you find and pick up a Torn Out Medical Consultation Log.

Climb down into the pit, where ghosts attack you. After the fight, pick up the bag for the first hint.

3 – Return to Evelynne at Her House: Hint 2

With the bag in hand, return to Evelynne Fitcher at her house in the Hunters’ Camp. Your conversation with her reveals the next hint.

4 – Investigate Evelynne’s House: Hint 3 and Shed Key

Location: The Dark Woods – in and around Evelynne’s house

There are a few things to find in and around Evelynne’s house. Start in the back garden, where you can pick up a Torn Page from “Septem Defensiones”.

Inside, the house is quite a mess. You can look at a couple of bottles on the floor, an old letter on the table and another pile of destroyed things next to Evelynne’s bed. The item that matters is the one on the floor next to the dinner table. Inspect it for the next hint.

Hint 3 of 5 – Ghost
Alive, the ghost had syphilis, but refused to take it seriously.

Before you leave, pick up the Key to the Shed from the shelf next to the exit door. You need it for the next step.

5 – The Painting in the Shed: Make-Manifest Ritual, Hints 4 and 5

Location: The Dark Woods – the shed behind Evelynne’s house

Use the key to open the previously locked shed. In the corner is an empty easel. Antea can scan it and reveal a painting that Red can then investigate. It shows a couple: Felicity and Gaufrey.

A red glowing circle appears in front of the painting. Use it to perform the Make-Manifest Ritual with 2 Hoof Fungus and 2 Lilac Hyacinths to summon the ghost.

The ghost is Gaufrey Rawlings, the fiancé of Evelynne’s sister Felicity. Talk to him for the last two hints of the case.

Hint 4 of 5 – Ghost
Gaufrey Rawlings was betrothed to Evelynne Fitcher’s sister.

Hint 5 of 5 – Evelynne
Evelynne Fitcher treated her future brother-in-law Gaufrey Rawlings with dangerous medicine.

6 – Save Evelynne and Bring Closure

Location: The Dark Woods – a house in the south
Hints: all 5 of 5 found

Evelynne has gone into hiding, and Gaufrey’s ghost is angry at her. You find both of them at this location in the south.

Fight off the ghosts outside, then enter the house and meet Evelynne and Gaufrey to bring closure to the case. You have three choices: Blame Evelynne, Ascend Gaufrey or Banish Gaufrey.

7 – Should You Blame Evelynne or Ascend or Banish Gaufrey?

Affects: Antea’s ending

There is no right or wrong answer. If you want Evelynne to live, ascend or banish Gaufrey. If your focus is bringing Antea back, you have to blame Evelynne. Here is what each choice does:

Blame Evelynne
Red sacrifices Evelynne with the Blame ritual for her part in Gaufrey’s death. Blaming counts toward resurrecting Antea.

Ascend Gaufrey
Red gently releases Gaufrey’s ghost with the Release ritual. Evelynne lives. Ascending counts toward Antea’s ascension.

Banish Gaufrey
Red forces Gaufrey’s ghost out with the Banishment ritual. Evelynne lives. Banishing also counts toward Antea’s ascension.
