About The Mechanic
Administrator: The Mechanic

Humanity originated in Africa before migrating over a period of hundreds of thousands of years to Europe, Asia, Oceania, and North and South America. No other species has expanded its habitat to such an extent. It is this movement, the Mechanic believes, that is the essential characteristic of humanity, and the engine of our evolution.
In the post-Stranding world, however, it is difficult for humans to move as they once did. The Mechanic dreams of leaving the confines of his tiny shelter and roaming free across the wilderness, of sitting behind the wheel of a great machine, and travelling faster than anything else, of moving more freely than ever before.
He lies awake at night dreaming of such a machine, and spends each day in the workshop, trying to make it a reality.
Rewards: The Mechanic
Each Knot City and Shelter has a five-star reward system, granting rewards and upgrades with every star reached. Gain more reputation by delivering goods. APAS firmware upgrades, bandwidth increases, and Material Allotment increases are granted with every star reward. Shelters additionally offer Sam a place to rest at the 5-Star level.
Porter-to-Porter Advice
Struggling to find enough cargo to boost Sam’s reputation with The Mechanic? There’s a simple solution. Open the Ring Terminal menu and head to the “Orders” section. From there, navigate to the “Search” tab and select The Mechanic under “Delivery/Report Destination.” Confirm your search, and you’ll receive a list of available Order Locations for The Mechanic. It’s a quick and convenient way to make a Porter’s job a whole lot easier.
1-Star Rewards
1 – Coffin Board

Repurposed by the Mechanic from the coffin recovered from the Armed Survivalists’ base, the coffin board is a vehicle, cargo container, and hiding spot all in one.
Built around ghost mech technology, much of the coffin’s internal workings were initially incomprehensible to the Mechanic. But after some dedicated work, he has been able to modify the device with a propulsion system that absorbs and releases tar. In many ways, the coffin board is the perfect amalgamation of ghost tech and human ingenuity.
The coffin board can be ridden like a surfboard, allowing you to easily traverse rivers and bodies of tar. Be aware that the coffin board is battery-operated.
You can also climb into the coffin board to rest and hide from enemies, or dispose of corpses by placing them inside. While hiding inside the coffin board, you can deploy stun bombs to electrocute nearby enemies. Doing this will drain your battery, and can only be done within the chiral
network.
The coffin board can be pulled along like a floating carrier even when you’re outside the chiral network. Doing so will consume chiral crystals.

2-Star Rewards
1 – Antigravity Unit – Vehicle

A component that can be fitted to vehicles. It uses chiral crystals to provide additional buoyancy when the vehicle is jumping or falling, allowing it to jump further and softening the impact of the landing.
The antigravity unit also reduces the weight of other components fitted to the vehicle. Deploying multiple units further increases this effect.
2 – Additional Armour – Tri-Cruiser

Armour designed to protect the driver of a vehicle, preventing them from being hit by gunfire and reducing damage from blasts. The armour also reinforces the entire vehicle, increasing its overall durability.
The armour is very heavy, however, and will slightly reduce the vehicle’s top speed.
3-Star Reward
Mortar – Vehicle

A mortar that can be mounted on a pickup off-roader. Loaded with MP shells, it is effective against BTs, humans, and mechanical enemies.
The mortar will automatically target enemies during combat. Effective against mid- to long-range targets, its projectiles travel in an arc and can hit enemies hiding behind cover.
4-Star Reward
Rocket Launcher – Vehicle

A rocket launcher that can be mounted on a pickup off-roader. It fires electromagnetic rockets that emit a powerful charge over a wide area on impact. A non-lethal weapon, it is effective against humans and mechanical enemies. The rockets have no effect on BTs.
The rocket launcher will automatically target enemies during combat.
5-Star Rewards
1 – Custom Hologram: The Mechanic

A Hologram of The Mechanic can now be selected under any Structure Customisation.
2 – Patch 59: Coffin Board

A 1×1 backpack patch that allows the wearer to express their individuality. Serves as proof that you have reached the maximum connection level with the Mechanic.
