About the Northern Environmental Observatory
Like its sister facilities located all over Australia, the Northern Environmental Observatory conducts observations and analyses of its local environment.
Ever since the nearby city of Cape Fort Knot (F2) was swallowed by the tar, the observatory has paid particular attention to the tar currents. But the loss of Cape Fort Knot has also cut off the observatory’s essential food and supply lines, as well as compounded its shortage of local manpower. If things continue this way, the future of the observatory’s monitoring activities – and indeed the observatory itself – will be at serious risk.
Administrator: Mike Northcote

Mike came to Australia as part of the APAC advance expedition, where he joined the staff of the Northern Environmental Observatory.
He is observant, sharp, and a great people person who quickly made friends with the staff at Cape Fort Knot (F2), the F2 South Distribution Centre, and other locals nearby.
When Cape Fort Knot was lost to the tar, he was devastated. With everything else lost, the boomerang he had received as a gift from one of his friends who passed away during the catastrophe is a source of great comfort to him – no matter how far he throws it, it always comes
back.
Despite knowing that such a thing is impossible, a small part of Mike dares to dream that the souls of his friends will one day return as well.
Rewards: Northern Environmental Observatory
Each Knot City and Shelter has a five-star reward system, granting rewards and upgrades with every star reached. Gain more reputation by delivering goods. APAS firmware upgrades, bandwidth increases, and Material Allotment increases are granted with every star reward. Shelters additionally offer Sam a place to rest at the 5-Star level.
Porter-to-Porter Advice
Struggling to find enough cargo to boost Sam’s reputation with the Northern Environmental Observatory? There’s a simple solution. Open the Ring Terminal menu and head to the “Orders” section. From there, navigate to the “Search” tab and select the Northern Environmental Observatory under “Delivery/Report Destination.” Confirm your search, and you’ll receive a list of available Order Locations for the Northern Environmental Observatory. It’s a quick and convenient way to make a Porter’s job a whole lot easier.
1-Star Reward
1 – Woods by Magnolian – Music

2 – Porter Suit: Squares

A suit designed specifically for making deliveries. S-size cargo can be attached to the shoulders and the hips. Its pattern will camouflage you in snow or asphalt.
2-Star Reward
Blood Boomerang

A foldable boomerang is effective against BTs. It was designed specifically for Sam and is stored in a dedicated holster attached to his suit, allowing it to be carried without taking up space as cargo.
The boomerang’s blade is designed to be filled with Sam’s blood – the more blood loaded into the boomerang, the more damage it will inflict on BTs.
If you approach a gazer undetected, you can use the blood boomerang to sever their umbilical cord and send them back to the world of the dead.
The blood boomerang will also inflict non-lethal damage on human targets. It flies in a special trajectory and will always return to Sam. It can never be lost.
Be wary that the boomerang cannot be thrown if Sam’s blood levels are too low.
