1 – Family Legacy Investigation Start
The Family Legacy Investigation begins with four main topics: “The Vigils,” “Keystone of Grief,” “Vitalis,” and “The Journalist.” Before he passed away, Vitalis entrusted you with the Keystone of Grief and assigned you the task of locating the Journalist, who fled to the southwest, towards the mountain ridges below the windmill.
2 – Finding the Journalist
The next step in this investigation is to find the Journalist, who escaped to the southwest, towards the windmill and the mountain ridges. The windmill is visible from the gravesite and the manual save point.
As you approach the windmill, you’ll spot a round, black, pulsing orb – the gathering point for the Hollow Walkers. This is a Timeloop, an obstacle you’ll need to destroy later. To the left of the Timeloop, you’ll find a wooden passageway leading to the ridges. Head through this gate and follow the path until it veers left. There, you’ll encounter the journalist, seated in front of a barricaded mine.

Who are you?
Answer:
I’m Tania Alver. I’m an independent investigative journalist covering the Civil War.
Question 2:
Vitalis told me the passcode is Pentos. What’s your connection to him?
Answer:
Oh. So, we’re on the same team then. Vitalis is the source of my story. We met for the first time at the Weeping Knight statue.
I don’t know much about him. He was taking me to the Vigil headquarters when we got ambushed. It’s somewhere in these rocky ridges.
Question 3:
Are you the journalist mentioned in this note?
Answer:
Yes, I am. In my defense, you are dressed like the enemy. I was just covering my a*s.
Question 4:
What do you know about their headquarters?
Answer:
They call it the Watcher’s Nest. To get there, Vitalis said we must follow the path with all the tombstones and obelisks just west of here.
Vitalis described the entrance as a doorway etched into solid rock. He mentioned a windmill above it on the cliff.
You need two keys to open the door. Vitalis gave me one during the ambush. Please, take it. Find Agatha. She has the other one.
Question 5:
Where is Agatha?
Answer:
We escaped the ambush together and headed into the rocky ridges. The enemy was following us. Agatha and I split up on the path with all the mining carts, and she made sure they followed her.
Head back to where the path splits. I went left, and Agatha went right. That was the last time I saw her. I… I hope she’s alright.
I won’t be joining you. My old injuries are acting up. I will only slow you down. I can see your APC from here. I’ll head there and wait for you.
3 – Finding the Watcher’s Nest
Here’s how you find and open the Water’s Nest – the Vigils’ Headquarters.
Tania, the Reporter, provides you with the Emblem – Candle, one of two essential keys required to unlock the Vigil Headquarters door. The second key is held by Agatha, whom you’ll need to locate next. While Tania waits in the APC, your task is to find Agatha.
Head left at the nearest crossroads and make your way uphill. You’ll encounter Agatha a short distance ahead, near the mining carts. She holds the ID Card – Agatha Maren and the Emblem – Book, both critical to progressing your mission.
With both Emblems now in your possession, your next objective is to locate the entrance to the Watcher’s Nest. According to the datapad, it lies hidden among the ridges, along a path marked by tombstones and obelisks. Retrace your steps and look for a ladder leading to a wooden platform. There, you’ll encounter a Hollow Walker armed with shard projectiles. Beyond this point, you’ll find the gravestones and obelisks that guide the way to your destination.
Follow this path and drop down a ledge at its end. Follow it all the way down to find a young man you can talk to. It’s Atticus Caddell – Ernest Caddell’s missing son. He will also tell you where the door is.
Question 1:
Who are you?
Answer:
The name’s Atticus. I escaped the Medini Prison Camp when the demons attacked. I should’ve died there. It looks like Sethyris had other plans for me.
I joined up with some refugees. We have a camp close by. The path to reach it is behind the giant stone serpent. Head north from here, you should find it.
These people need me. They’re in bad shape. I’m out here, scrounging for supplies.
Have you seen the destroyed ON vehicles on the road? They’re northeast of the Weeping Knight Statue. There’s a truck that’s still in good shape.
If only I could find the keys and get it started, I could take these people to my father’s farm in Senedra.
Question 2:
I think I met your father. He’s Ernest Caddell, right?
Answer:
Yes. He’s my father. I’m glad to know he’s still alive and well. This makes me want to get back home even more.
Question 3:
Did you see a strange door somewhere around here?
Answer:
I saw a large door carved into the rock. Head back on this path and turn left. Continue on the path, and the door will be on your right.
Careful though. There’s a huge demon lurking in front. When I saw it, I turned back real quick.
Exit Atticus and follow the path ahead. Take a left turn and proceed until you reach a door on your right. Insert the two Emblems to unlock the door.
4 – Solving the Watcher’s Nest Puzzle
There is a puzzle you need to solve in the Watcher’s Nest. Let’s have a look around first, and then I will tell you how to solve it.
Exploring the Watcher’s Nest
In the first room, pick up the Usable Item: Note – Wall Grooves. The note says that the Vigils tried to open Pentos’ coffin. The coffin is locked by this riddle:
“Through his name, his title, the symbol of his Order, and the date of inception of his Order, shall the path be revealed.”
The scannable inscription says:
“The Watcher’s Nest, The Vigil, Founded 1513.”
This room has eight grooves below eight wooden Shields for tokens to be placed, and further up, there are three metal shields with three grooves.
Deeper within the Watcher’s Nest lies a central research room filled with books, computers, and a whiteboard with important information. The room features two grooves near a blue banner and four additional grooves within the alcoves. You’ll also find two collectibles here, along with a computer that can be accessed for further insights.
Pay close attention to the alcove grooves, as they include inscriptions that read, from left to right: Algea, Alecto, Rosa, and Dio.
In the next room is the entrance to the tomb and a sleeping area. Here, you can find another computer and a collectible: the Recording – Pentos.
Descend into the tomb to find a collectible on top of the sarcophagus and also behind it in a chest. There are five inscriptions near the symbols on the wall. On the sarcophagus are four Ceramic Flower tokens. In the chest is a Lymbic Rod – Grief, Z. It starts the Mystery: Lymbic Door – Senedra, Hilltop. Nothing happens when using the lever for now.
It’s the four Ceramic Flower tokens that are essential to solve the Watcher’s Nest Puzzle.
Solving the Watcher’s Nest Puzzle
The four Ceramic Flower tokens must be inserted into the grooves of the Watcher’s Nest to unlock the sarcophagus within the tomb.
Remember the riddle in the Note – Wall Grooves?
“Through his name, his title, the symbol of his Order, and the date of inception of his Order, shall the path be revealed.”
The scannable inscription says:
“The Watcher’s Nest, The Vigil, Founded 1513.”
Each token has to be placed in the location that symbolizes Pentos’ Name, his Title, the Symbol of his Order, and the date of Inception.

-> Date of Inception: 1513
1 – Name: Algea
The name Algea can be found in the Alcove behind the whiteboard. It’s the groove at the far left. Scan the inscriptions to find it and place a token there.
2 – Title: Warden of Grief
The symbol for “Grief” is located within the tomb, just to the left of the altar. If you’re uncertain, you can read the inscriptions inside the tomb to identify it. In the entrance hall, it is the third symbol from the left.
3 – Symbol of his Order
Pentos was a Vigil. The symbol can be seen on the whiteboard. There are three metal shields in the entrance hall corridor. Place the token in the shield to the very right.
4 – Date of Inception: 1513
Also on the whiteboard, you can see the blue flower banner with the date 1513 to the right. So head to the flower banner and place the last token to the right of the banner.
This will activate the sarcophagus mechanism. Pull the lever to open the sarcophagus inside the tomb and claim the Mark of the Betrayed and a Blue Flower Scroll.
5 – The Elder
As soon as you pick up the scroll, Tania will remote control the drone in the cutscene and ask you to return to the APC. As you exit the tomb, you will hear a toilet flushing. There is someone now sitting in the bedroom area – Gildas Brom, the Vigils’ Elder.
Question 1:
Who are you?
Answer:
My name is Gildas Brom. I am the oldest member of the Vigil. Ever since I lost the use of my legs, I’ve been the caretaker of relics and other useful items.
We have accumulated quite a collection. These items are precious and will undoubtedly help you fight the creatures.
Question 2:
Can you tell me more about the Keystone of Grief?
Answer:
If you have the keystone, this can only mean one thing… Vitalis is no more. This is a somber day for the Vigil. He was the best of us.
Unfortunately, there is no time to mourn him. I will honor his memory later.
As for the artifact, we only have theories, some of which you can find in notes and journals strewn across the tables and desks.
The Keystone of Grief was found in the Yumal Caves, leading us to the Watcher’s Nest.
Whatever the Keystone is, I believe some answers can be found in Pentos’ coffin. If only we could figure out a way to open the damn thing.
Question 3:
Anything else you can tell me about the Watcher’s Nest?
Answer:
Initially, the Watcher’s Nest was a barracks for the Phol Guards, our ancestral order. Their blue-flowered crest is carved on the walls.
The Phol Guard abandoned it, but Pentos Algea, the founder of the Vigil, reclaimed it years later. He made it a secret stronghold to coordinate the Vigil’s efforts.
Today, it is a beacon, a marker left behind for future generations. Pentos was put to rest here, but we only recently discovered his tomb in the crypt below.
Although we haven’t been able to open his coffin yet, we are confident there are more answers inside.
Question 4:
This was in Pentos’ coffin. What do you make of it?
Answer:
This is what you found? That isn’t very reassuring. More riddles. The scroll must be the key to solving the enigma.
I recognize the old Hadean language. It died out centuries ago. It would be best to find someone who can translate it.
Question 5:
What other duties must a Vigil perform?
Answer:
I’m sure you are aware that nothing is free in this world. As a Vigil, you swore an oath to prevent the Calamity and protect the people of Hadea.
By performing good deeds for Hadeans, you can acquire some relics and items.
You may have noticed that the creatures, despite being slain, return after a certain time.
That’s because you haven’t shut down their Timeloop. You need to kill the Guardians first, and only then can you enter the Timeloop to shut it down.
We must shut down all the Timeloops. I know. It seems like an impossible task, given the brutality of the civil war.
Take this. It will help you detect the Guardians that are protecting each Timeloop.
Question 6:
How do I perform good deeds?
Answer:
It’s simple. Help our people. Hadeans are a proud bunch. They won’t ask for your help directly, so pay attention to what they say.
The more you help our fellow Hadeans, the more relics and items you can acquire. Now, you’re asking yourself, how can this old kook know if I’m helping people?
Oh, I can tell. It’s in your eyes, boy. The eyes have much to say if one knows how to look. Whenever you accomplish a good deed, come back and talk to me to claim your reward.
Question 7:
Where do these necklaces come from?
Answer:
The necklaces we carry today belonged to the Phol Guards. We found them in old tombs and ruins.
Crafting these necklaces is a lost art. Many have tried unlocking the secrets of forging one, but every attempt has failed.
They are precious and rare, which is why each member of the Vigil passes the necklace to their next of kin.
Question 8:
What do you know about these weapons?
Answer:
Consider what our smiths need to forge our weapons. It makes you think, doesn’t it? Now, that’s a chicken and the egg mystery if I ever saw one.
Think about it. You can’t slay the creatures without our weapons. The material to forge them comes from the creature’s corpse. How did they do it?
Question 9:
What are Timeloops, and how do I shut them down?
Answer:
They ensnare moments in time, events charged with extreme violence, and curse those trapped inside to relive the moment over and over again.
Now, how to shut it down? Once inside, you must bring an Amine Prism to the center of the Timeloop.
The center is deadly to humans, so the Phol Guards trained owls to carry the Amine Prism.
Amine Prisms are extremely rare. This is the only one I have left. Please take it. Perhaps your flying gadget can carry it to the center for you.
Remember, when you close a Timeloop, come back and see me to claim your reward.
There must be thousands. Roll up your sleeves. You have a lot of work
ahead of you.
6 – Identifying the Blue Flower
Review the datapad—Gildas has shared a wealth of information, and there’s plenty to tackle. Head back to the APC to present the Blue Flower Scroll to Tania. She will take control of the APC and link you to the Ziel computer. Additionally, Research is now unlocked. To begin, you’ll need to collect Research Items scattered across Hadea to uncover the Vaults of Forbidden Knowledge.
To research, talk to Talia, and give her the item you want to do research on.
Question 1:
Why are you in Hadea?
Answer:
If someone were to say I was obsessed with Hadea, it would be the understatement of the year.
I’ve always wanted to see it with my own eye. Something has been happening here for a very long time.
There is a dark secret, and the world hasn’t been told.
Question 2:
So, what’s written on the scroll?
Answer:
I translated the text. It’s a riddle. I suggest you read it. I’m sure it will make more sense once we find the location.
As for the blue flower, the Ziel Server is giving me the usual encyclopedic answer. It’s not providing me with a specific location.
The drawings are landmarks, and the blue flower is the key to finding their location. Whatever this place is, it’s a well-guarded secret. I’m sure it holds the clues to Vitalis’ investigation into stopping the Calamity.
I think it’s time for you to chat with the locals. Talking isn’t your strong suit, but someone must know where this flower grows.
Question 3:
What should I do now?
Answer:
Someone must know where this blue flower grows. It might be best if you talked to the locals.
Journey to Ernest Caddell in Senedra Forest to inquire about the Blue Flower. As a knowledgeable farmer, he’s well-versed in plants and their habitats. Ernest will inform you that the elusive flower can be found near Lake Cynon.
Question 1:
This flower, do you know where it grows?
Answer:
I know this species. It’s called Adder’s Tear. It grows only in one place: Lake Cynon.
I used to take fishing trips there. Sometimes, I would sit there, waiting for something to bite, realizing how sad it was that my sons never came along. Life seems to be a series of missed opportunities.
Question 2:
How are you holding up?
Answer:
It’s been quiet here. I’ve even dared to step outside for a few hours.
It felt good to breathe the air of the forest again. I picked some fresh flowers. They now adorn my sons’ graves.
Question 3:
I met your son Atticus in the Vyssa Hills
Answer:
I knew he was still alive! I knew it. Oh, thank Sethyris. I hope he finds his way back home.
Question 4:
What do you know about the tower?
Answer:
If I were you, I would avoid that place. I forbade my sons from even going near it. The tower is haunted and cursed. I know it sounds silly, but it happens to be true.
7 – Solving the Blue Flower Scroll Puzzle
You can now travel to Lake Cynon. Head down to the area with the flowers, and you will see the pool that is shown on the Blue Flower Scroll straightaway.
Around this pool are five pillars with a Ship’s Wheel at the top and five spikey pillars with symbols. The first ship’s wheel pillar is showing the goblet symbol in the fifth position. In the elevated area to the right is another pillar, showing the drop symbol in the second position.
One pillar displays the crown symbol in the first position, while another features the star prominently in the fourth position.
The last pillar has been destroyed, and the symbol can’t be read, but based on what we know, we can tell the order of the five symbols:
Crown – Drop – Key – Star – Goblet
To progress, strike the spiked pillars with your Limbic Weapon in the correct sequence. Once you’ve hit them in the proper order, a mechanism featuring a ship’s wheel will emerge, and a nearby circular compartment will unlock. Inside, you’ll find the Gear – Spindle. Insert it into the ship’s wheel mechanism to proceed.
As the water recedes, you’ll be able to descend into the pit and navigate the shadowed corridors, leading you to the first illuminated hall. At the bottom of this hall, you can find a Lymbic Rod for the Lymbid Door – Lymbic Forge Mystery.
8 – Opening the Great Atrium Door
In the first hall, head upstairs to locate a manual save point and a door operated by a lever. Pull the lever to open the door, then follow the path past a watermill. This will lead you to a large room featuring four doors and a massive gate that requires two Sigils to unlock. The gate is marked with the inscription: The Great Atrium.
Sigil – Phol Guard
The door just left of the Great Atrium opens into a hallway patrolled by a spike-throwing Hollow Walker. This hallway features a ground-level door and a passage. A staircase leads up to the Armory Door, requiring Lymbic Rods, with another gate located to its left. This door can be opened, leading back to the Great Atrium. To the right of the Lymbic Rod Gate, a staircase ascends to the Dormitory.
In the upstairs Dormitory, you’ll find a Timeloop Guardian and a Lymbic Chest waiting. It requires the Lymbic Rod – Neutral, V, and is part of the Lymbic Chest- Lymbic Forge Dormitory Mystery.
Return to the previous hall that has a Lymbic Rod Armory door and descend to the bottom level to follow the passage to the left. There are two doors in this passage. One door to the left, the other straight ahead.
The door to the left leads to Storage or Wine Hall with the collectible: Key – Crying Eye.
The other door leads to a room with a wooden mechanism at its center, with Hollow Walkers lurking around it. Drop down into the pit and fight the Hollow Walkers. In this pit is the collectible: Sigil – Phol Guard. One of two items is needed to open the Great Atrium Door.
The two doors left of the Great Atrium are cleared, and the Sigil – Phol Guard can be placed into the left socket of the Great Atrium Door.
Sigil – Order of the Eye
To find the Sigil – Order of the Eye, head to the upstairs door to the right. A corridor leads down past a waterwheel and bookshelves to a door that opens by pulling a lever. Open the door and fight the Hollow Walkers behind it. This room has a fireplace with the inscription: “To the North and to the South. The way will be revealed.“
The torches around the fireplace can all be moved. Only rotate the torches at the back wall (north) and the ones at the opposite side (south) to open a secret compartment in the fireplace, revealing a chest with the Sigil – Order of the Eye inside. There is also a locked door here that requires the Owl Key. It is in the Great Atrium, and I will come back to that.
You can now open the Great Atrium Door by placing the Sigil – Order of the Eye in the other slot. The Great Atrium door opens.
9 – Repairing the Water Sluice Controls
The Great Atrium is a big, water-filled room with an impressive mechanism at its end and a door with a carved hammer.
Water Sluice: Gear – Spoked
Defeat the Hollow Walkers in the Great Atrium, and you will find the Key – Owl near one of them.
Return to the Owl Door near the fireplace room and use the Key – Owl to open it. There is a Lymbic Chest inside that requires the Lymbic Rod Grief, Z. There is a staircase up that leads to a room that has the Research Item: Old Sketchbook locked away inside a cupboard.
Head back down to the room with the Lymbic Chest and follow the staircase down to the door that leads back to the atrium. Here you can find a chest with the Gear – Spoked. It is one of two items needed for the Atrium’s mechanism – the Water Sluice Controls.
To repair the Water Sluice Controls in the Great Atrium, place the gear that you just found in the slot to the left of the inscription, as shown in the screenshot, and pull the left lever.
Water Sluice: Gear – Large
Lowering the water in this room will allow you to descend using the stairs. At the bottom, drop down near some scaffolding. You’ll find many passages down here. Look for an open gate in front of which there is a lever, accompanied by the inscription “Chapel.”
To enter the Chapel passage, proceed through the gate, which will close behind you. After defeating all the Hollow Walkers in the corridor, head to the back, where you will find a chest containing the collectible: Lymbic Rod – Terror X for the Lymbid Door – Lymbic Forge Mystery.
Follow the only way possible to find a locked door with an Eye Symbol. The Inscription will identify it as the Second Library. It requires the Key – Crying Eye, which you have found earlier. Here you can find the Defensive Gear: Bracers of Grief – Denial. In this library is also the second Timeloop Guardian. Unlocking the door in this room leads to right back to the fireplace room.
Return to the corridor where the Crying Eye door was and enter the chapel instead. You will hear a wooshing of a Timeloop Guardian down below. Defeat it and head up at the other side to drop down to the pulpit, where you can find the collectibles: Gear – Large and Lymbic Rod – Rage, W. This will start the Lymbic Chest – Lymbic Forge, Hall Mystery.
Exit this room through the only door to hear another Timeloop Guardian wooshing in here. Defeat the Timeloop Guardian, and you can find the Lymbic Rod – Neutral, V in the scroll shelf.
Return to the Great Atrium, where you can repair the second part of the Water Sluice Controls using the Gear – Large. Don’t forget to pull the lever to make the water recede.
10 – Finding the Hammer
The last thing that is missing in the Great Atrium is a hammer that needs to be placed in the big door near the Water Sluice Controls. Here’s where to find it to enter the forge.
Now you can get to the bottom of the Great Atrium. Follow the wooden platform path to a ladder where a spike-shooting Hollow Walker is. Here you will find the last Lymbic Rod for the Lymbic Door at the bottom of the Great Atrium.
Follow the only passage at the bottom of the Great Atrium – the Hall of Martyrs. There is an elevator that takes you down to a cave with the Timeloop. Defeat the Timeloop Guardian there and open the sarcophagus with the lever. Inside is the Active Relic: Aster’s Band of Domination, the Hammer of Modus (fits in the big door at the Great Atrium), and Fundamentals of Lymbic Forging (Crafting Tome).
Return to the Great Atrium and use the Hammer of Modus on the door to enter the hall with the Lymbic Anvil.
On the Anvil lies a Level 3 Sword of Grief that you can use to fight the Hollow Walkers ahead.
After defeating the Hollow Walkers, insert the Keystone of Grief into the blue slot to the left. This will open one of the barriers in the big, central door, but there are still three keystones missing.
This will complete the Investigation: Family Legacy and start the three Investigations:

-> Searching for the Keystone of Ecstasy
-> Searching for the Keystone of Rage
