The Adventurer is described as follows by his son:

“My father is an explorer in body and soul. He lives for danger, the thrill of discovery, and won’t let anything get in his way. Not BTs, Brigands, or Armed Survivalists. Not earthquakes, floods, or tar eruptions.”

“But you already know this, you’ve met him. He was the man you rescued from the Armed Survivalists after he was captured trying to recover the Dowser’s tar magnetite.”

“l asked him once why he insisted on taking such risks. All he said was, ‘Surely you understand by now?’ And not long afterwards, he was off again…”

Rewards: The Adventurer

Each Knot City and Shelter has a five-star reward system, granting rewards and upgrades with every star reached. Gain more reputation by delivering goods. APAS firmware upgrades, bandwidth increases, and Material Allotment increases are granted with every star reward. Shelters additionally offer Sam a place to rest at the 5-Star level.

How to Earn Reputation

Reputation building with The Adventurer operates differently compared to most other shelters. Sam first encounters The Adventurer during Main Order 021: “Rescue the Dowser’s Friend from the Armed Survivalists.” Found in one of the Survivalists’ camp buildings, the Adventurer must be carried across the mountains to the Dowser, marking the beginning of their connection.

1 – Q-pid Connection of the Adventurer

Before Sam learns the location of the Adventurer’s shelter, he will receive a message via the Social Strand Service (SSS). In it, the Dowser informs him that the Adventurer has left her shelter to return home. Once Sam arrives at the F5 East Distribution Centre during the main order, he will unlock Main Order 036: [Hazardous] Cross Treacherous Snowy Peaks to Deliver a Meteorite to the Adventurer. Upon reaching the Adventurer’s shelter, Sam will have to rescue the Adventurer again before being able to connect the shelter to the chiral network.

2 – Main Order 037: Rescue the Adventurer from the Snowy Mountains

To connect the Adventurer shelter in Death Stranding 2 Q-pid, you first have to find and rescue The Adventurer in a circular search area north of the Adventurer’s shelter. You can find him east of the mission marker, shown in the screenshots below. Take him back to his shelter to connect it to the chiral network and receive the 1-Star Reward.

3 – Sub Order 118: Rescue the Adventurer from the BT Area

Continue playing until Sam receives a message on the SSS from the Adventurer’s son, informing him that the Adventurer has gone missing once again. Travel to the shelter to obtain Sub Order 118: Rescue the Adventurer from the BT Area. The Adventurer can be found in the BT area, located between the Ghost Hunter and East Fort Knot (F4). He is lying inside a ruined house. Once you locate him, transport him safely back to his shelter. Completing this task will reward you with a 2-Star connection level upgrade.

4 – Sub Order 119: Rescue the Adventurer from a Chiral Creature-Infested Region

Continue playing until Sam receives a message on the SSS from the Adventurer’s son, notifying him that the Adventurer has gone missing once again. Head to the shelter to receive Sub Order 119: Rescue the Adventurer from a Chiral Creature-Infested Region. You’ll find the Adventurer unconscious on a cliff surrounded by Chiral Creatures, located south of the Lone Commander.

If you have the Chiral Rodent Hat or Chiral Spider Hat, the creatures will ignore you, making your task significantly easier. Otherwise, ensure you bring one or two Climbing Anchors in case a friendly porter hasn’t already set them up at the site. Safely bring the Adventurer back to his shelter to earn the 3-Star connection reward.

5 – Sub Order 120: Rescue the Adventurer from the Highest Reaches of the Snowy Mountains

Continue playing until Sam receives a message on the SSS from the Adventurer’s son, informing him that the Adventurer has gone missing once again. Make your way to the shelter to receive Sub Order 120: Rescue the Adventurer from the Highest Reaches of the Snowy Mountains. Head to the marked location, where you’ll find a guidepost situated at the summit of the mountain. Just below the guidepost, you’ll discover the unconscious Adventurer resting against the mountainside, ready to be safely transported back to his shelter. This will grant you the 4-Star connection reward.

6 – Sub Order 121: Rescue the Adventurer Who Vanished into Thin Air

Continue playing until Sam receives a message on the SSS from the Adventurer’s son, informing him that the Adventurer has gone missing once again. Before this event is triggered, Sam may need to complete a few cargo deliveries to increase his reputation level to just below 5 Stars. This milestone serves as the trigger for the Adventurer’s last journey.

Once activated, pick up Sub Order 121: Rescue the Adventurer Who Vanished into Thin Air from the shelter. Fortunately, this rescue mission doesn’t require extensive travel. Head south of the shelter, where you’ll find a cluster of floating BTs. Approach the largest BT, which will pull Sam into an alternate location – a massive crater in northern Australia.

To find the Adventurer, make your way across the tar to the central island in the crater. Upon reaching the Adventurer, two catchers will appear. You have two options: engage them in battle or quickly retreat to the marker where the large floating BT awaits to transport you back to the area south of the shelter. If you’ve already captured a BT – perhaps during the Fisherman’s Tar Lord Sub Order – you can use it as a distraction to evade the catchers while making your escape.

Once you’ve safely returned to the shelter with the Adventurer, you’ll earn a 5-Star reputation along with the associated rewards.

1-Star Rewards

1 – Climbing Power Gloves Lv1

Mountaineering gloves that greatly aid the retrieval of cargo.

Small spikes on their exterior make it easier to stop yourself sliding down slopes, and prevent your Endurance Gauge from draining.

The gloves are also fitted with powerful magnets that produce a targeted energy field, allowing you to pull nearby cargo toward you and add extra force to your punches.

Battery efficiency has been improved.

Special Hint: Wear them while driving a Pickup Off-Roader to pick up chiral crystals while driving.

2 – Patience by Low Roar – Music

3 – Yotei Mask – Face

Return at a later point to receive the Yotei Mask.

An unusual mask discovered by the Adventurer in the snowy mountains. It has an otherworldly air to it. When the Adventurer saw the mask, he was reminded of Mount Yotei in Japan, and named it accordingly. Blocks direct and reflected sunlight.

2-Star Rewards

1 – Thermal Pad

A small device that attaches to the shoulder or hip to warm the wearer’s entire body. Equipping these pads will slow the rate at which stamina is depleted in low temperatures. They will activate automatically in cold conditions.

Wearing thermal pads will also slightly increase the amount of stamina restored by drinking from the canteen.

Although thermal pads will consume power while active, their built-in batteries will increase overall battery capacity.

2 – Chiral Boots

Return at a later point to receive the Chiral Boots.

The ingenious idea of using chiral crystals in footwear led to the development of these boots. A chiral coating has been applied to the exterior, dramatically reducing their weight while giving them an eye-catching golden gleam. They are also highly durable and are sure to be the envy of every porter you encounter. Very few people have the skills required to produce these boots, making them both rare and extremely valuable.

3-Star Reward
