Crimson Desert: Secrets Hidden in the Dark Quest Walkthrough

Starting the Quest

The quest is a poster hanging at the Springtide Mill Notice Board, south of Hernand town. If you have not liberated the Springtide Mill yet, do so to access the Notice Board.

The Poster reads:
“Looking for someone to investigate a cave.
Client: Greymane
Recently, strange noises have been coming from a cave across the south of Hernand. I can’t tell if it’s animals or people, but it’s so loud it’s driving me crazy. The noise echoes every night, I can’t even drink in peace. I’m heading to the cave to check it out, so come find me if you’ve got the courage!”

Find the Greymane

The Greymane by the road just southeast of Bloomwood Ranch. If you did the Quest: Missing Companion Wooly, Willian, the quest giver there, will mention the Greymane from this quest and try to lead you to him. In any case, he will always be by the road, southeast of Bloomwood Ranch.

Follow Boris, the Greymane, on horseback when he asks you to. He will cross the river in the south and lead you to a bandit cave west of Unicorn Cliff.

Investigate the Suspicious Cave

Defeat the bandits guarding the cave entrance and enter it to investigate.

In the cave, you will find a couple of dehorned goats. Deeper in, you will find a lot of meat and also a storage area with a treasure chest.

At the bottom of the cave, your lamp will glow, meaning that there is a memory here to discover. Use “Blinding Flash” to learn about the “Lair of Animal Thieves”. If you don’t know how to use “Blinding Flash”, look it up in the Guides section of the menu. It’s Guide #110: Blinding Flash – Concentrate Light.

After learning “Lair of Animal Thieves,” you get an option to quickly access this memory with the menu button. Otherwise, put on the Visione Helmet and play the “Lair of Animal Thieves” Memory Fragment (Guide #314: Memory Fragments).

Hint:
The cave will reset after a while. So it is an endless source of hassle-free meat. Every time I ride past this cave, I go and have a look if the meat is there again.

Go Outside the Cave

After learning what happened inside the cave, exit, and you will see a short cutscene of the villagers retrieving their items.

After that, you will receive the quest rewards:
-> Inventory expansion
-> 5x grilled meat
-> 5x grilled fruit

Go to the Guards

The guards are where you left your horse when arriving with Boris the Greymane. Approach and talk to them. After that, the “Secrets in the Dark” Quest is complete, and the Quest “The Dark Veil” starts.
